"Pssst!"

"Pssst!"

"What now?!" I scowled at the annoying idiot that stuck to my side and insisted on accompanying .

"Uh, don’t an to disturb, but uh... explain to again why we’re sneaking into the city lord’s mansion." Dion squinted.

I gritted my teeth.

"Did you not listen to a word I said?"

"I did, it just sort of went through here and got out through here!" he gestured at both his ears.

’Calm down Damon, calm down, you can’t kill him.’ I kept repeating in my head.

When Dion insisted on sticking to , I had no choice but to feed him a lie. I told him my mission was to fish out information about a stolen artifact that had recently been spotted in the city lord’s mansion.

After which we ca to the city lord’s mansion. But since we couldn’t just storm in through the front door, we leapt over the walls.

I had two purposes in coming here. One was to determine if the city lord was truly working with the Heretics. If yes, then that was when purpose two would co into play, which was to find out if he was also a heretic.

But make no mistake, I wasn’t intending to fight anyone just yet. I was just here to find so sort of evidence. Surely if the city lord was cooperating with the heretics, it’ll have to be for so benefit, and that, would leave evidence behind.

I would have been no doubt closer to my goal if not for the idiot asking stupid questions.

"Since you’ve forgotten, just shut up and follow my lead." I muttered.

We entered the mansion itself through a side entrance, easily slipping through under the noses of the guards. Most of them were normal humans, and only a few were kappa ranked.

Currently, we were walking stealthily through so long corridor.

"Wait!" My hand pushed Dion back against the wall just as we reached a corner.

"What are you doing?" he whispered.

"Listen." I gestured, and we both leaned our heads from behind the wall, just enough to see two n speaking, one of them I recognized. It was the blond man from the tavern incident. And the other, a fat old man adorned in silk robes.

This proved it. The city lord was involved.

"The boss wants you to know, so pretty suspicious people have been spotted coming into this city today, and she wants you to find them out." the blond man said.

"O...o...of course." the fat man replied hastily. "I’ll do my best to find them."

"In fact, I myself ca across one of them earlier." the blond man continued.

I sighed.

’So he was already onto from the start.’ Now that I think about it, I should have used my mask. A face this dignified was bound to draw attention.

"He even began to tail , and for a while I thought I had lost him. But he managed to track down here, isn’t that right?" the blond man sharply turned in the direction we were hiding.

"Shit!" both Dion and I flinched back against the wall. He knew we were here, or at the very least knew I was here.

"W....what?! There’s soone here?!" the fat man who I presud to be the city lord asked frantically.

’Fuck! fuck! fuck!’

"Aren’t you going to introduce yourself?" The man continued.

I hated monts when things didn’t go according to my plan, and this was one such mont.

And the worst part, I couldn’t even kill the man. Doing that would alert the heretics. That was because his patron Darkwalker would feel their contract broken, which they would in turn relay to the rest of the heretics.

So that left two options, the first being I incapacitate him without killing him, which was arguably much, much harder than killing him.

And the second option, which was,...to run.

"What do we do?" Dion mouthed to .

"Shush! I brought my a finger to my lips.

I had chosen the second option, we were going to run away, but first, a distraction.

I ca out of our hiding spot.

"W...who are you? How did you get in here?" I ignored the frantic city lord who was trying to act brave, and turned to the blond man.

"Wow," I smiled. "Didn’t think you’d noticed . I must admit, you’re quite perceptive for a heretic. Thought you all were a bunch of bloodthirsty maniacs."

The man smiled, amused.

"I see people have been having the wrong opinions about us. Here’s my offer, how about joining us, that way you’ll get to really know how we actually behave."

I scowled.

"I’m afraid I’d have to decline. You see, I have not the slightest interest in bowing to so stuck up alien diagnosed with a god complex."

"How dare you insult Lord Jin!" his eyes practically glowed in anger.

"Ah, so it’s that bastard." I muttered under my breath. Where I stopped in the novel, was during the final war. And this so called Lord Jin was a reccuring character in that arc. He was a subordinate of one of the dark princes, and oh was he persistent.

He basically beca a stage four tumor in Alistair’s side.

"DIE!" The blond man scread, losing his earlier composure, as a black smokey aura erupted from his body.

’Seems this one’s a fanatic!" I though with a weary sigh. Even the mbers of the dark cult were divided into two. Those who were there for the benefits it offered, that is, power, riches, and sotis even fa. And then there were the fanatics.

The fanatics truly believed deep in their essence, that the Darkwalkers were their gods, and would bring them salvation. In their eyes, others were the heretics for not believing in that fate.

The blond man’s right hand underwent a beastly transformation, his finger nails lengthened into claws, and the skin seems to form so sort of carapace. His unique ability I presud.

Without wasting a mont, he charged at under the scared gaze of the city lord, but too bad for him, I didn’t resist even as his claws pierced through . After all, I was only a reflection of a reflection.

Crack!

I shattered with a soft crack before the blond man’s bewildered gaze.

--------------

anwhile, Dion and I had already gone far from the mansion.

"Dude, what the hell?! You literally beca two!" Dion exclaid, eyes widened.

"It’s my unique ability, what’s so surprising about that?" I inquired, genuinely confused.

"What’s so surprising?!" he gasped. "Being able to make clones, man. Do you know how cool that is?"

Well, it was true, clones indeed were cool, no matter how much I dissed them. Most especially my type of clones.

"So what?" I scoffed. "It’s not like there hasn’t been soone with a clone ability before."

"And, we were almost caught as intruders in a city lord’s mansion, but what you care about is how cool clones are?"

He grinned.

"But we didn’t get caught right?"

"Yeah, we didn’t." I mirrored his grin.

"But I have a question though, why do you not use your ability during combat classes? You would have stood a much better chance against Alistair and your sister if you did."

"Tell Dion, can a thousand ants defeat a normal human holding a can of pesticides?" The situation wasn’t necessarily like that, but he didn’t need to know that. I definitely couldn’t defeat Alistair as I was now, no matter what I did. Even if I made a reflection with 90 percent of my aether.

Rose though, was a different story, unless she went completely ballistic, I could surely defeat her with a reflection that strong.

"Oh... now that you put it that way," he scratched his head. "It does kind of makes more sense.

"So what about your mission? he asked changing the topic. "Is it done for?"

"Yeah I probably think so." I replied.

-------------

anwhile, at the jungle,

"Finally found you huh?" I mused.

Before stood a nacing blood eyed deer with extrely long antlers that would put mooses to sha.

It was about my height, but the condescending way it was staring at , made it seem like I was way smaller than it was.

It was found by one of my reflections, so I quickly swapped here. It would seem that deciding to expand my search was a great idea, otherwise, I would have missed even this one.

The beast was only at the Kappa rank, so I wasn’t the slightest bit worried.

"Grrrrrhh...!" It snarled, watching with predatory eyes.

"Relax little one, it’s gonna be quick, I promise."

We stood watching each other for a few monts, before the beast suddenly snapped, and charged straight at .

Beasts biologically had greater strength than humans, so even though I was a rank higher than it was, I quickly employed aether reinforcent.

I sidestepped it’s charge, letting it’s antlers tear through the space, and crashed into a tree directly behind .

For a kappa ranked creature, it sure was tenacious though. As if it didn’t feel any pain, it wheeled around with impressive speed, it’s antlers aid for my body.

Once again, I effortlessly dodged it’s attack. It was simply too outclassed. Without wasting any more ti, I prepared to finish it.

I leapt back, creating distance from it, then gripped my sword firmly and dashed towards it.

"First art: Blooming spring!" My sword cut through it’s antlers, and dragged against the creatures head in a spray of blood.

"Well, that was anticlimactic." I muttered at the creature’s downed body. "Now to retrieve it’s heart unhard." That was the main problem.
