It’s not a big deal to diagnose an ovarian teratoma. But for the Second Hospital’s Ergency Center, which had just opened on its first day, it was a significant event.

The reason is simple: success or failure dictates everything.

If the diagnosis had not been made after pathology, it would have been a different story.

People were now praising Liu Banxia for his courage, insight, and superb dical skills; in that alternative scenario, they would have called him reckless, foolhardy, and a quack.

Even though last night’s dinner was a little late, they managed to throw a mini-celebratory banquet in the cafeteria. They just improved the food quality a bit and ordered a few individually stir-fried dishes.

But now it was incomparable to the original ergency departnt. There were only a few people back then, but now there were dozens of them.

Upon waking up, Liu Banxia hurried to the ward of the girl he had diagnosed yesterday. It was still early dawn, not yet ti for ward rounds, but he still wanted to be there.

Not even ten minutes later, his group of interns also quietly made their way over.

"Why didn’t you sleep a little longer?" Liu Banxia asked quietly.

"We ca to see if she still has a headache after waking up," said Xu Yino.

Although it was just these few words, they moved the patient’s parents who were in the ward. Regardless of their motivation for coming, they had co, after all.

At 7:43 AM, the patient slowly woke up. Seeing a room full of people, she was sowhat stunned and rubbed her eyes reflexively.

"Do you still have a headache?" Liu Banxia quickly asked.

The patient paused, then smiled. "No, it doesn’t hurt anymore, it really doesn’t hurt."

If Liu Banxia hadn’t reminded her, she would have forgotten all about it. After a few happy exclamations, she started clutching her stomach. The headache was gone, but now her stomach ached a bit.

"Don’t worry, this is normal. The pain will disappear in about two or three days," Liu Banxia said with a smile.

"You still haven’t passed gas yet. Pay attention to that and let us know when it happens. Next is the proper recovery period. Enjoy this headache-free ti."

The patient nodded. "Doctor, thank you. So...can I still have children in the future?"

"Why not? Of course, you can," Liu Banxia said.

"We checked your other ovary during the surgery yesterday; it’s very good, very healthy. Have a peaceful recovery, and after you’re discharged, you can enjoy a normal life."

For a patient, being able to resu a normal life is the happiest thing. Regardless of the disease, it’s a tornt.

"Dr. Liu, can I be discharged tomorrow?" Han, who was waiting at the door of another patient’s room, quickly asked as Liu Banxia ca out of the first room.

"Had enough of this place so soon? Our environnt here is so good. We’ll draw so blood later, and if your test results are satisfactory, you can leave," Liu Banxia teased.

"Dr. Liu, it’s indeed better than staying in a hotel—it’s cheaper, and it’s a decent single room without anyone else. However, it’s still a hospital; it’s more comfortable staying at ho," Han also joked.

"You should also pay more attention in the future. Driving is also a sedentary profession. If you feel uncomfortable, drive directly to the hospital. If the situation is urgent, wait where you are and call 120 (ergency services) directly," Liu Banxia said.

"Many diseases develop quickly. When an illness strikes, you must remain calm and ensure good ventilation; this is the best self-rescue. Okay, looking at you, you seem to be fine. We’ll just draw so blood as a formality, and then you’ll be all set."

"Dr. Liu, no need for more thank-yous. If you need anything, just give a call," Han said.

"Actually, as long as we don’t et each other here in the future, that would be best. Use the money you’d otherwise spend on future treatnts to buy a al instead; that would be much better. We should go downstairs now; blood drawing will be arranged later," Liu Banxia said with a smile.

Just as they reached the ground floor in the elevator, he saw Zhou Li winking at him from the lobby.

"Greetings, Directors! I didn’t expect you all to arrive this early." Seeing the hospital leaders strolling in the lobby, Liu Banxia quickly ran over.

"Not bad, yesterday’s case was handled well," Chief Director Chen Zhenxing said, nodding with a smile. "You should continue in this style. When you encounter difficulties, don’t always think about solving them by yourself. You can discuss them together. Otherwise, why would we have a consultation system?"

"Thank you, Chief Director, thank you for your affirmation, Directors. I lack experience and need the help of seniors," Liu Banxia quickly said.

"There’s another comndable aspect to your work," Chen Zhenxing added. "Apart from ergency surgeries requiring imdiate attention, you conduct preoperative discussions for other surgeries to determine the surgical plan. I personally hope you can maintain this practice."

"I personally hope you can keep this up. Although it’s a requirent, not many truly implent it. Firstly, surgeries are usually fully scheduled, and secondly, similar surgeries are perford too often."

"But for many doctors who don’t have much experience, if they encounter unexpected changes during surgery, they often beco flustered."

"I’ve seen your discussion records; they’re docunted in detail. I hope it becos a comndable tradition for the Ergency Center in the future. You are the first batch of people in the Ergency Center, and you are its foundation."

Applause rang out; everyone knew this was the Chief Director’s affirmation. This wasn’t just for Liu Banxia; it was for the entire Ergency Center.

"Alright, everyone, get back to your work. If it’s ti for you to get off work, then go. Being able to leave on ti isn’t easy, so take advantage of it while patient numbers are low," Chen Zhenxing said, waving his hand.

He was quite pleased with the state of the Ergency Center, into which he had poured all his effort. He had carefully considered each person who was transferred here before making the decision.

"Chief Director, any more instructions?" Liu Banxia asked.

"What more instructions could there be? You’re already doing a very good job. Keep it up," Chen Zhenxing said.

"I’ve also spoken with the city ergency center. The increase in patient assignnts won’t happen for another ten days. These few days are for you to familiarize yourselves with the environnt to avoid mistakes when you’re busy."

"Also, regarding the dical departnt’s investigation into you, act reasonably and don’t let it bother you. You should put work first, understand?"

"Rest assured, I’m practically a regular for these things. What other thoughts could I have? I haven’t taken it to heart at all," Liu Banxia said.

"Just as Shuwen said, you’re quite thick-skinned," Zhou Zhiyong said with a laugh.

"Now you’re the Chief Resident, and that cos with heavy responsibilities. You need to be more prudent when handling things. Are there patients from the inpatient departnt being triaged here today?"

Liu Banxia nodded. "Mainly patients of Director Zhou and Dr. Chen. I checked the surgery schedule; twenty-three will be gradually transferred here within a week."

"The doctor staffing at the Ergency Center is quite good. Although we’ve added so nurses, further training will be needed when patient numbers increase in the future," Chen Zhenxing said.

"Chief Director, rest assured. A training plan is already in place. This new batch of patients will also provide our nurses with more hands-on experience," Wang Ying said.

Chen Zhenxing nodded. After taking another look around, he led the group away.

Liu Banxia exhaled a sigh of relief, afraid that so problem here would be noticed. Things were different now; with such great resources, any lapse would be embarrassing.

"Why didn’t you co forward while Chief Director Chen was here?" Liu Banxia sidled up to Liang Xiaolin.

"What was I supposed to do by going forward? I’m just an intern," Liang Xiaolin rolled her eyes at him.

"You’re heartless, aren’t you? If I were being criticized, you could have put in a good word for ," Liu Banxia said.

Liang Xiaolin didn’t know what to say. It was only because there were many people around that she couldn’t deal with him as casually as usual.

"Shoutian, keep up the good work!" Zhou Li chid in, approaching them.

"Sister Li, you should head ho and rest. You’ve worked consecutive shifts. Take so ti off, and then you can go back to your regular schedule, right?" Liu Banxia asked.

"I’ll have to help Sister Wang out a bit more for the first few days. The people transferred here are from the inpatient departnt, so integration takes ti. And we also need to carefully assess each individual for future shift arrangents."

"Hehe, Old Wang has taken on a bigger responsibility now. Our anesthesia departnt is under his managent. Even though he’s an acting head now, it won’t be long before his position becos permanent," Liu Banxia said with a pleased grin.

"What exactly are you up to?" Zhou Li shot him a look.

"Braised pork bones, of course. Just secretly pack a couple of pieces for . Otherwise, with so many people, there won’t be enough to go around," Liu Banxia said mysteriously.

"When’s the official move-in? Pick a good day so I can arrange for a day off too. With the plethora of talent in the Ergency Center now, I can finally take a proper break."

"Who are you planning to ask to cover for you? Isn’t Dr. Shi also moving there?" Liang Xiaolin asked curiously.

"Your brother, of course. Such a good Deputy Chief Physician shouldn’t go to waste," Liu Banxia stated casually.

Liang Xiaolin was thoroughly frustrated; she couldn’t have imagined he would set his sights on her older brother.

"We’ll see when the ti cos. Anyway, the renovation is almost finished, and it looks great," Zhou Li said cheerily.

What was all that effort over a lifeti for, if not for this ho? Even though it was bought on mortgage, it was still hers. And repaying those mortgages early with Wang Lei was possible with a little effort.

"One piece of advice," Zhou Li said before clocking out, "don’t be as cheeky as you were in the ER. Why do you think the Chief Director ca? Wasn’t it to back you up?"

"That was his intention?" Liu Banxia asked in surprise.

"What else did you think? The opening was just yesterday, yet he ca again today. Do you think the Chief Director has that much free ti? Just one case, and you received special praise. He even ntioned the dical departnt’s incident. Couldn’t you think a little deeper?" Zhou Li stated helplessly.

"His affirmation of you is him backing you up. He’s also telling others he’s grooming you. Just be more vigilant; there’s really nothing much to it."

Liu Banxia nodded thoughtfully. He’d been naive; he hadn’t thought that deeply into it.
