The next day, Liu Banxia headed to work, full of enthusiasm. After all, happy events lift the spirits.
"How’s your hand? Do you need to postpone today’s surgery?" Shi Lei asked.
"It’s fine; it’s pretty much healed. As long as I’m not too exhausted, it’s not a problem. Much of the work can be delegated to Qing Kewa and the others," Liu Banxia replied.
"Did those people leave after I did yesterday? Dealing with them is such a headache, and we don’t have many options against them."
"They left, yes. But didn’t you see? They weren’t saying good things about you. It’s causing quite a stir online now," Shi Lei said, giving a bitter smile.
"What happened? Let see," Liu Banxia asked curiously.
"You should ask Wang Chao; he’s the one who discovered it. Don’t let it affect your mood for surgery; rember, patients must co first," Shi Lei reminded him.
"Don’t worry about that. Wang Chao, co here, tell about it quickly," Liu Banxia called over to Wang Chao.
Without further ado, Wang Chao pulled out his phone, tapped a few tis, then handed it to Liu Banxia.
It was a follow-up report on yesterday’s incident. After Liu Banxia left, people let their imaginations run wild based on the scene of him getting into the car.
The general consensus, after much analysis, was that Liu Banxia couldn’t possibly afford the Porsche Panara on his own. From this, they concluded he must be a kept man, relying on his good looks. That would explain his audacity in sending a patient’s relatives to a detention center without a second thought.
As for being a kept man, so envy it, while others despise it. But for the person involved, it’s usually not a pleasant experience.
However, after reading it, Liu Banxia didn’t feel much of anything. He had long stopped worrying about such things. He was completely financially independent. The money he earned was his to spend, and frankly, more than he could use.
"President Liu, does this really not bother you at all?" Wang Chao asked curiously.
"Bothered? What’s there to be bothered about," Liu Banxia shrugged.
"Let tell you a bit of gossip: I t my future father-in-law yesterday. He’s giving an Audi A6L today. So, tell , what is there to be bothered about?"
"Damn it, this is unbearable!" Wang Chao exclaid in frustration.
How is one supposed to live like this? Wang Chao thought. He knew Liu Banxia wasn’t actually a kept man. But what could you do when your future father-in-law and girlfriend just kept showering you with gifts?
"Alright, I’m heading into surgery. Qiaoqiao went to pick out the car. If she cos by, just have her wait for for a bit," Liu Banxia said.
Wang Chao nodded, "Go on then. Just rember to treat to a few als soti."
Liu Banxia laughed. He really didn’t care about the online reports. It wasn’t his first ti dealing with this. Sotis, you just had to have thick skin, or these reports would drive you crazy.
They don’t care about the truth; they only care about what grabs attention. Reported sothing wrong? So what? They’ll just issue a correction in the next report. Caused harm to soone? That matters even less to them. Who asked you to interpret it that way? Their report was rely speculation, after all.
This is the so-called "new dia" nowadays. Often, their purpose isn’t to report news but simply to attract eyeballs.
He wasn’t sure if it was the efficacy of the Red Flower Oil or his current excellent physical condition. He had been worried about lingering effects yesterday, but after a night’s sleep, there were truly no major issues with his hand.
The morning’s operation was a subtotal gastrectomy. This type of surgery is primarily used to treat gastroduodenal ulcers and gastric tumors. Today’s patient had both, a fairly common scenario.
Nowadays, very few people truly maintain a healthy and regular diet, whether in cities or rural areas. Perhaps this is one of the prices to pay for an improved standard of living.
The surgery was a success, earning Liu Banxia 800 experience points, 500 proficiency points in Diagnostics, 300 proficiency points each in Dressing Change and Suturing, and 8 Glory Points.
"Alright, send the patient to the ward. I need to go check out my new little car," Liu Banxia said.
"Sigh... it must be nice having a wife like that," Wang Lei remarked with a sigh.
"Hehe, I’ll go tell Sister Li on you," Liu Banxia said with a mischievous grin.
"Go ahead. She calls the shots at my place anyway," Wang Lei said nonchalantly.
"I’m truly impressed by you lot. Is this sothing to be proud of?" Liu i interjected.
"Hehe..." Xu Dan giggled beside them.
"What are you laughing at? You’ll have to get married sooner or later. Let’s see what you’ll do then," Liu Banxia looked at her.
"Dr. Liu, I’m still very young," Xu Dan said earnestly.
"You won’t be young when you beco a senior scrub nurse. Will you not have to consider it then? You’ll have to go through it sooner or later. After all, everyone has to live their life," Liu Banxia said.
"I’m out of the ’sea of suffering’ now. Those of you who aren’t, need to hurry up. Haven’t you noticed? We dical personnel tend to get married and have children much later than people in other professions."
"So you all need to work hard. If you find soone suitable, make your move quickly. We have so little personal ti; you need to prepare early to reap the rewards early."
This resonated with everyone present. Many in the operating room were married. However, working in a hospital ant they genuinely had little ti to care for their families.
Back at the Ergency Center, he saw Qiaoqiao chatting with Liang Xiaolin and Zhou Li. When she saw him approach, she skipped over and pressed the car keys into his hand.
"Are you happy now? How much did it all cost?" Liu Banxia asked.
"I don’t know. Dad wanted to buy it, and Uncle Qiu placed the order. How would I know?" Qiaoqiao said, feigning seriousness.
"For it to be delivered so quickly, it must be the top-spec model. Though I don’t know the price, it definitely wasn’t cheap. Go take a look first. Co to the cafeteria with for lunch later," Liu Banxia said.
"Okay," Qiaoqiao replied joyfully.
Arriving at the parking lot, Liu Banxia felt a surge of excitent looking at the large, black Audi A6L.
Even though Qiaoqiao gave it to , this is still my first car ever! he thought. With a car, getting around will be much more convenient.
Noticing the license plate ended in 602, Liu Banxia affectionately pinched Qiaoqiao’s nose. That’s the date we first t, and the second day I got the system. I can’t believe this girl rembered!
Qiaoqiao just giggled happily. She hadn’t said it outright because she wanted to test Liu Banxia, not expecting him to actually figure it out.
"It’s great. Next ti we go out, I’ll have to drive my car," Liu Banxia said after looking it over inside and out.
"But so parts still need accessorizing. I’ll send it over this afternoon; it’s not like you’re in a rush to drive it anyway," Qiaoqiao said.
"It’s good enough as it is; no need to make it too fancy. Let’s go eat first. I’m actually getting pretty hungry," Liu Banxia said.
"When are you off next ti?" Qiaoqiao asked.
"That’s still up in the air. But I’ve already told my parents and asked them to get ready so they can co over promptly when the ti cos," Liu Banxia said.
"Why go through all that trouble? They can co earlier. There are plenty of hotels they can stay at. Anyway, hotels will have lots of vacancies after New Year’s Day, and it’ll save them from an exhausting journey," Qiaoqiao suggested.
"Alright, we’ll do as you arrange. Whatever you say. My mom dotes on you the most now anyway. She even warned this morning not to bully you. I’m not even sure who’s bullying whom here, but I’ve given up resisting," Liu Banxia said.
Qiaoqiao shot him a smug glance. That’s more like it, she thought.
When they arrived at the cafeteria, Qiaoqiao, being a regular visitor, didn’t attract too much attention.
During the al, their table naturally beca the liveliest one again, especially when Xu Yino and Liu Yiqing playfully called her "Mrs. Liu," which made Qiaoqiao beam with delight.
"Drive carefully on your way. I’m not in a hurry to use this car anyway. Once they’re done with it, just have a designated driver bring it to ," Liu Banxia advised Qiaoqiao as she was leaving.
"Mm-hmm, you head back. It looks like Shi Lei is looking for you," Qiaoqiao nodded and ran off cheerfully.
"Chief, what’s up?" Liu Banxia asked.
"My hand’s fine now. Can we add those two appendectomies?" Shi Lei asked.
"Alright, but we’ll have to push the schedule back a bit. This afternoon’s surgery will likely finish after four. I’m fine, but the OR staff will need a rest. Can we schedule them for the evening?" Liu Banxia asked.
"That should be fine. After all, we’re doing them earlier than planned, and they’re both chronic appendicitis cases," Shi Lei said with a smile.
"This way, we can also free up an operating room for tomorrow. Tomorrow’s schedule is quite packed. Actually, it’s not just tomorrow; the surgical schedule has been quite full recently."
Liu Banxia nodded.
The Ergency Center’s operating rooms aren’t exclusively for its own use. To maximize utilization, the inpatient departnts also schedule surgeries here.
Furthermore, as the weather turns colder, the cold air tends to trigger many underlying conditions in people with weaker constitutions. The operating rooms throughout the entire hospital are now running at, or very near, full capacity.
No wonder people say hospitals are a good business. Although the investnt in the Ergency Center is huge, as long as the dical expertise is there, recouping the costs isn’t a problem at all.
"By the way, Chief, with the increase in patients, everyone needs to be extra careful," Liu Banxia said.
"dical orders must be explicit. Potential post-discharge situations must also be docunted in the patient’s records, not just conveyed verbally. Haven’t you seen the reports? Another hospital in a different province got sued over discharge issues."
"dication verification in the pharmacy must also strictly follow regulations. I’ll ntion this to Sister Wang again. When things get hectic, all sorts of problems can easily arise."
"That’s true," Shi Lei said with a sigh. "And we can’t skimp on the consent forms. Even if patients complain about all the procedures, we have to follow every required step."
