"Consider carefully. Was it when your father was giving you strict training that you gradually started to feel this pain?" Liu Banxia asked.

The young patient thought carefully, then nodded. "But the pain back then wasn’t the sa as it is now; it was more like a side stitch."

"Then think again carefully. Is your distaste for food not about the taste or sll of the food itself, but rather that your body feels uncomfortable after you’ve eaten?" Liu Banxia asked with a furrowed brow. "How to describe it? It’s like, you can eat food fine, and you also feel hungry. But after eating, the pain just gets worse, and occasionally there are symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting?"

"Yes, exactly like that! I vomit after eating, no matter what it is. The more I vomit, the more painful it becos, so I dare not eat too much. Dr. Liu, have you figured out what’s wrong with ?" the young man’s face lit up with surprise and joy.

"Is the main area of pain here?" Liu Banxia asked, pressing the area where the patient’s ribs connected.

The patient nodded vehently, his joy unconcealed.

Nobody had asked these questions in any of the other hospitals where he had his diagnosis, and Liu Banxia had been so accurate just now. He thought that perhaps now he had a chance.

"It’s hard to say at this point," Liu Banxia said. "We’ll need to do an additional test: an abdominal CT angiography. This ans injecting a contrast agent into your blood vessels, which might cause so discomfort."

"No problem! Any kind of examination is fine, as long as you can diagnose what my disease is," the young man said excitedly.

"Wait a mont, I will arrange it right away," Liu Banxia said.

Inside, he was slightly exhilarated, not just because he had a direction for the diagnosis, but because he had helped Xu Peichen.

"Banxia, is there a lead now?" Seeing the young man almost hopping with joy despite his injured foot, Xu Peichen also ca out of the clinic.

"First, let’s do an abdominal CT angiography. I suspect it may be dian Arcuate Ligant Syndro, also known as Celiac Artery Compression Syndro," Liu Banxia said.

"But right now, it’s just my suspicion. We’ll know what’s going on once the CT scan cos out. Let’s hope it is; it would help alleviate his pain sowhat."

Xu Peichen patted his shoulder. "I don’t know much about these things. If you really diagnose it correctly, he’ll be much better off in the future. It’s treatable, right?"

Liu Banxia nodded. "To cure it completely, surgery is required. Let Shi Lei handle it when the ti cos; I haven’t fully recovered from my injuries yet, so Director Zhou won’t allow into the operating room."

Xu Peichen laughed. "Must be tough not being able to operate, huh?"

Liu Banxia nodded pitifully. "It’s really tough. I’ve been running around today just to relieve my boredom. Director Xu, I think you’re a bit short-staffed here too, aren’t you?"

Xu Peichen nodded. "All the departnts in the hospital are understaffed. We’re always recruiting, but it’s never enough."

"For current dical students, having only a bachelor’s degree or even a master’s degree can feel insufficient. For promotion and salary prospects, many people will pursue a doctorate. Every year because of this, our hospital has a staffing shortage of about ten people."

Liu Banxia grimaced. "I’d better not think too far ahead for the ti being and just focus on my work."

"You’ve done an excellent job in the ergency center, and your na ca up quite a few tis in the recent eting. Don’t slack off; keep up the good work," Xu Peichen said.

"And if you ever find it boring there, you’re welco to co to our Orthopedics Departnt for a couple of years too. I can offer you a position as associate director, where you can not only deal with orthopedics matters but also handle other diseases."

"Director Xu, if I dared to leave now, wouldn’t Director Zhou chase down and thrash ?" Liu Banxia said with a wry laugh.

"Ah, Old Li still regrets it to this day; he should have decisively made a move at the ti," Xu Peichen said with a sigh.

The associate directors and attending physicians in orthopedics who heard this couldn’t hide their envy. ’Old Li’ in Xu Peichen’s words could only refer to Vice President Li Mingwu.

A few months ago, Liu Banxia was just a junior resident. He used to tread lightly whenever he ca to Orthopedics. But now, he’s beco soone who can communicate on equal terms with the heads of various departnts.

Don’t underestimate Xu Peichen for being just the director of Orthopedics; he simply did not want to take a higher position. Orthopedics is already a very busy departnt in itself; he did not have the energy to tackle more responsibilities.

Xu Peichen offering Liu Banxia the position of associate director wasn’t a joke. He was well aware of his skills in setting bones and cleaning wounds. He also knew he had experience leading the ergency center; if he were to join Orthopedics, he would undoubtedly beco Xu Peichen’s right-hand man.

It’s truly hard to compare people. Although Liu Banxia is just a resident for now, his exceptional skills attract the attention of top brass. Who wouldn’t covet such talent?

Since Liu Banxia was already there, Xu Peichen didn’t want to waste his expertise. So, he directly assigned him to see patients with dislocated joints.

Liu Banxia was not one to shirk work. However, he would still work according to the rules, taking X-rays first, and then resetting the joint. Even though he had the skill to reset it directly, he had to follow hospital procedures.

This is a standard hospital rule. Having confidence in yourself is not enough; you need to make the patient satisfied. If any patient becos unhappy, feeling you’re not treating their case seriously, they might complain, which would cause a lot of trouble.

However, his techniques were a bit different from others, a little quicker than most doctors. Basically, as soon as a patient ca in, he’d first glance at their X-rays, give a casual touch, engage in a bit of small talk, and then imdiately proceed to reposition the bones.

If it weren’t for worrying about causing pain to the patient, he probably wouldn’t even bother with the small talk.

"Dr. Liu, Dr. Liu, the doctor examining the CT scans told to find you quickly. He said your guess is probably correct." A skinny young man hobbling in on crutches interrupted Dr. Liu’s consultation.

"I’m sorry, he has been tornted by his illness for more than ten years, and now we see so light at the end of the tunnel," Dr. Liu hurriedly spoke to the patient lying on the bed.

"It’s fine, I understand, OUCH..." The patient was interrupted mid-sentence by a bone resetting perford by Dr. Liu.

"It’s finished. It was just a minor joint dislocation. Take another X-ray, put on a back brace, and you’re done," Dr. Liu said with a smile.

The patient could only look helplessly at him. This doctor was indeed fast.

Having handed that case over, Dr. Liu led the skinny young man outside and inserted his CT images onto the light box.

DING! Skinny patient’s task completed.

Experience gained: 500 points, Diagnostic skills proficiency: 800 points, Glory Points: 5 points.

This mission is rated Flawless, gaining 500 experience points, 500 diagnostic skill proficiency points, and 5 Glory Points.

"We can almost confirm now, it’s Celiac Artery Compression Syndro. It would be too complicated to explain all the dical jargon, but this ans a ligant in your abdon is compressing your celiac artery, causing inadequate blood supply," explained Dr. Liu.

"Now, you can see this blood vessel is sowhat narrow. Every ti you eat or exercise, the compression becos more severe. That’s why you usually experience minor pain, and occasionally, intense pain."

"This may have sothing to do with overtraining when you were young. When a person’s body is under constant strain, it inevitably causes so damage. Considering your situation..."

Before Dr. Liu could finish, the patient hurriedly cut him off, "Dr. Liu, just tell if it can be treated, please, can it?"

Tears stread down the patient’s face as he spoke.

Dr. Liu patted his shoulder. "Yes, it can be treated. We have two thods. One is to maintain the status quo while temporarily alleviating the pain by injecting anesthesia into your celiac plexus. The other is surgery to relieve the compression and restore blood flow."

"Surgery, surgery, it has to be surgery! No, can you make the pain go away first?" The patient was so elated, he was babbling.

Dr. Liu nodded with a smile. "Sure, we can’t jump straight into surgery. Your physical condition isn’t at its best right now. Ideally, you should rest and recuperate for a few days."

"So here is what we’ll do. I’ll discuss your situation with Director Xu, then we’ll proceed with your transfer. You’ll stay in my ward for a couple of days, where we’ll use anesthetics to alleviate the pain."

"Alright, we’ll do as you say." The patient kept nodding vigorously, even enthusiastically shaking Dr. Liu’s arm a couple of tis.

As the saying goes, ’happy as a child’—and this patient was the very picture of it.

Until you walk a mile in another’s shoes, you can never truly understand their plight. Similarly, unless you have constantly "enjoyed" that pain, you could never comprehend the sheer joy this young man was feeling right now.

A quick inquiry revealed Xu Peichen had gone to the operating room for surgery. It looked like the remaining work would fall to his departnt. After completing the transfer procedures, Liu Banxia took the young man directly back to the ergency center.

"Wang Chao, you’ll be responsible for this patient," Liu Banxia instructed. "Celiac Artery Compression Syndro. First, administer a celiac plexus block to give him a couple of comfortable days. We’ll proceed with the surgery the day after tomorrow."

"Okay, leave it to ," Wang Chao nodded.

"Rest assured," Dr. Liu reassured the patient. "I’m injured so I won’t be able to perform the surgery, but I’ll get a top-notch expert from our ergency center to do it."

"Alright, thank you, Dr. Liu. The quicker the better. I really want to get a good night’s sleep," the patient sighed.

Dr. Liu nodded. "Don’t worry, Doctor Wang will take care of everything else. Let’s get the patient bed ready and call your family to share the good news."

"Oh, I completely forgot about that," the patient said gleefully.

"Not bad for your first day back, bagging a hat-trick," Zhou Li chid in.

"You shouldn’t praise too much, or I’ll really get proud," Dr. Liu said seriously.

"Did you hear what they’re saying?" Zhou Li asked, grinning.

"What are they saying?" Dr. Liu asked, curious.

"Got a tough problem? Find Banxia. Banxia isn’t omnipotent, but without him, it’s absolutely impossible!" Zhou Li tossed out the remark and sauntered away.

Liu Banxia was left both amused and exasperated, wondering how that saying had even co about.
