Liu Banxia had a really good sleep that night, sleeping an hour and a half longer than he had planned.
Everyone’s promise of full support was genuinely upheld; their nightti work was done with as little noise as possible, and they independently resolved any problems they encountered.
It wasn’t as easy as it sounded. Each situation ca with its own responsibilities. That’s the peculiar nature of hospital work; once you involve yourself, you take on the responsibility.
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, he rushed back to the ergency center.
"Brother Wei, be extra careful during rounds today. We’re not sure what might happen during this surgery," Liu Banxia said.
"Don’t worry, leave it to ," Wei Yuan nodded firmly.
"I just asked the night shift nurse; the patients from yesterday’s surgeries are all doing well. But the patient with the roundworm infection from a few days ago probably won’t make it much longer. He arrived too late."
"Ah... even though this outco was anticipated, it still feels uncomfortable," Liu Banxia sighed.
"Will it affect you?" Wei Yuan asked.
Liu Banxia shook his head. "If those of us in this field can’t even bear this, then it really would be better not to do this job. We all must develop a ’heart of stone’ to get through it."
At that mont, Liu Banxia’s phone rang. It was a video call invitation from Qiaoqiao.
"Why are you up so early today?" Liu Banxia asked as soon as he answered.
"To cheer you on! You’re bound to succeed!" Qiaoqiao waved her little fist.
"How did you know?" Liu Banxia asked curiously.
"Well, Sister Li told , of course! I also know that one of your patient’s family mbers is very difficult to deal with. However, they seem quite good to my mom; they brought her a bowl of pork rib soup very early this morning," Qiaoqiao said proudly.
"Impressive! That’s really impressive. Even I didn’t know that, yet you’ve got it all figured out," Liu Banxia said.
At this point, Tang Dou’s big head squeezed onto the screen, completely filling the display. He then stretched out his tongue and licked the phone screen.
"Okay, I have to go, he’s starting to be naughty again. This guy, I can’t manage him anymore," Qiaoqiao’s voice drifted over, and then the video call ended.
"How nice, having a girlfriend to cheer you on. Then look at your boss, all alone," Wei Yuan teased.
Liu Banxia glanced over; indeed, Shi Lei did look rather lonely. However, he wasn’t skilled in matters of matchmaking, so he could only offer moral support.
"How are you two preparing?" Zhou Shuwen asked, walking out of his office.
"I have no problem."
"Ready."
Shi Lei and Liu Banxia replied in unison.
"Good. Once we have Chen Xuehai from cardiac surgery, our four-person team will be complete," Zhou Shuwen said.
"To prepare for today’s surgery, I didn’t even read to my son last night," Chen Xuehai added as he walked over.
Chen Xuehai was invited for his strong supplentary skills. Although this patient was only undergoing abdominal surgery, his cardiopulmonary function could easily beco problematic.
With preparations complete and under Zhou Shuwen’s lead, they rushed to the operating room.
On the way to the operating room, Liu Banxia pulled up his attribute panel.
Liu Banxia: Level 50, 135,145/138,900
Title: Excellent Surgeon
Mind: 70 points (Comprehension, mory, Concentration increased by 25.00%)
Agility: 73 points (Stability, Speed, Touch increased by 35.19%)
Strength: 62 points (Strength, Instrunt Mastery, Instrunt Efficiency increased by 44.19%)
Stamina: 54 points (Resistance, Physical Strength increased by 38.46%)
Attribute Points: 11 points
Glory Points: 188 points
Dressing Change: Level 3, 48,780/49,999
Suturing: Level 4, 50,766/99,999
Diagnostics: Level 4, 91,002/99,999
When I first got the system, I’d pull out the attribute panel to look at it whenever I had ti. But after having it for a while, I stopped paying much attention to it. Looking at it is useless anyway. To improve my abilities, I still have to put in real effort.
A while ago, when I was busy, I added 5 attribute points to Mind to reach 70. I also added 3 points to Strength for better control. As for the 5 points I added to Stamina, I personally felt it was to cope with long surgeries. Anyway, only I know about this, and I can assign my points however I want.
Today is also for that young patient. I need to consider what kind of potion to use to achieve the best effect. When I leveled up to fifty, the system prompted that new items were available in the mall. I had hoped for so more aweso potions, preferably ones that could manipulate strength and agility, but the reality was quite different from my expectation. The new items were just gemstones of a higher quality—the Flawless level—improving the respective attribute by 10 points and requiring 150 Glory Points for redemption. In my opinion, it’s still a rip-off. I have no intention of wasting my current Glory Points since the dream space can provide with so much assistance. With so few Glory Points left, I can’t afford to be reckless.
The dilemma is choosing the right potion. One is the Advanced Composure Potion, which boosts agility and spirit, and the other is the Advanced Stability Potion, which enhances strength and spirit. Both are great, but I can only choose one. After so consideration, I’ll go with the Advanced Stability Potion. My hand speed and stability are fine; to suture faster and better, I need to improve my mastery of surgical tools and my focus.
"Are you getting worried?" Zhou Shuwen asked.
"No, just a bit excited," Liu Banxia quickly replied.
Zhou Shuwen smiled. "Maintain a normal mindset. No matter what kind of surgery it is, for us, it’s ultimately just another operation. We’ve already discussed the surgical plan. Next, just as you said, if a ’little demon’ pops up, no matter who’s behind it, we just sweep it away."
Liu Banxia grinned; he hadn’t expected Zhou Shuwen to use such a thod to ease everyone’s tension.
Arriving in the operating room, he noticed many people behind the observation window.
This was a matter of personal preference when observing surgeries; so liked to grasp the overall situation from a macro perspective, while others preferred to scrutinize the minute, intricate details on the screen.
This was indeed a surgery that drew imnse focus, not only because of its high degree of difficulty but, more importantly, because it could potentially fill a gap in dical knowledge.
This surgery wasn’t even admitted through the inpatient departnt but through the newly established ergency center. If it were truly successful, it would undoubtedly declare the ergency center’s dical capabilities to the outside world.
To say this surgery was the focus of national attention would be an exaggeration. However, its success would undoubtedly create waves throughout the country’s dical community.
Moreover, the four individuals now entering the operating room were among the best in the ergency center.
Whether it was the long-famous Zhou Shuwen, the returnee Chen Xuehai, the rising star Liu Banxia, or the composed Shi Lei, none of them were to be underestimated.
"Let’s review the surgical procedure one more ti," Zhou Shuwen said. "When removing the organs, Shi Lei and I will take the lead, with Liu Banxia assisting. If a fragile blood vessel ruptures during organ removal, Liu Banxia must stop the bleeding imdiately."
Liu Banxia nodded.
Zhou Shuwen continued, "If we successfully remove the organs from the abdominal cavity, I will handle the tumor. Dr. Chen and Wang Lei need to monitor the patient’s vital signs closely. There’s no turning back once we start; we won’t get another chance. When the tumor is successfully removed and the organs are being auto-transplanted back into the abdominal cavity, Liu Banxia, you and Shi Lei will be the main force, and I will assist. You not only need to be quick but also stable. Only then can we ensure a successful one-ti transplantation. Understood?"
"Understood. I’ll warm up my body first," Liu Banxia replied and began doing warm-up exercises on the side.
He wasn’t fooling around or putting on a show; his body, especially his wrists and fingers, needed to be completely relaxed.
It was often the case that plans were well-laid, but once the abdominal cavity was actually opened, the patient’s actual condition would always present so subtle variations.
Such subtle variations, if not handled properly, could beco the critical factor determining the success or failure of the surgery.
The young patient was brought in. Due to the tumor’s effects, the child was sowhat frail. His timid eyes surveyed the people in the operating room, and everyone returned his gaze with gentle expressions.
The eight-year-old boy was about to face a life-and-death ordeal. Even if he was too young and innocent to fully understand, he likely had so premonition.
Once the child was successfully anesthetized, Zhou Shuwen announced in a grave voice, "The surgery begins," and then made an incision on the child’s abdon.
The observers in the gallery and those watching the screens began to watch with rapt attention. Even though it was currently just a very simple, routine laparotomy, they didn’t want to miss a single fra.
"Teacher Wang, why are they examining the bottom of the abdominal cavity so carefully? Shouldn’t they be removing the patient’s abdominal organs now?" Xu Yino asked, watching the screen.
Wang Chao blinked and looked towards Wei Yuan.
"The purpose is to clearly visualize the blood vessels, ensuring there will be sufficient length for reconstruction during the organ transplant," Wei Yuan explained.
"This is also one of the challenges of this surgery. Because of the tumor’s impact, this child’s blood vessels have beco quite fragile. Not only is the removal process highly difficult, but the transplantation will be even harder."
"Look, the blood vessel rup... Damn! Banxia is truly amazing; the hemostatic clamp was on it the instant it ruptured. I admire his speed, reaction, and accuracy. I can’t think of anyone else in our hospital who could match that."
The onlookers nodded in unison; this was genuinely no exaggeration. Heart, eyes, and hands had to be coordinated to the utmost degree to achieve such speed.
No one criticized Wei Yuan for swearing; everyone was feeling much the sa way.
This was the first ’little demon’ they had encountered on their journey. This was an arterial vessel, and the bleeding was profuse. Yet Liu Banxia had managed to clamp it in the nick of ti, even before the gushing blood had reached its peak.
While they were marveling at this, everyone else watching the surgery shared the sa sentint.
They were all experts; they knew that if it had been them, they absolutely could not have achieved such a result. Every second saved was equivalent to creating another second of life for this child.
