"Very good, this operation was very successful. Send the patient to the ICU first. It’s past dinnerti again; I wonder if there are any chicken legs left for us," Liu Banxia remarked wistfully.

Miao Rui, who had been quite happy monts before, suddenly looked crestfallen. Setting aside the money, which wasn’t much anyway, the main issue was that he’d been tricked by Demon King Liu, and this incident would beco a black mark on his record.

Returning to the first-floor lobby, Liu Banxia made so inquiries and learned that the girl’s condition wasn’t particularly good. Although her life wasn’t in danger, she would have to endure significant suffering and would require plastic surgery.

"What exactly happened?" Liu Banxia asked as they walked towards the canteen.

"You might not believe it if I tell you. I thought that in this day and age, there wouldn’t be such foolish parents anymore," Wang Chao said.

"What was it? Did they fall in love too young? And both sets of parents disapproved? So they attempted suicide?" Liu Banxia asked.

"Puppy love was a secondary issue. Have you heard of those internet addiction treatnt schools? They were banned by the governnt, but so are still operating secretly," Wang Chao explained. "The two of them t in one of those places. Since they were both from Binhai City, they gradually got to know each other. They were punished at school for their relationship, and both sets of parents were notified."

"Then today, they seized an opportunity to escape and et. Driven by impulse and unable to think clearly, they acted rashly. Now, both sets of parents regret it and understand, but it’s too late."

Liu Banxia also shook his head. "Internet Addiction Schools" had a notorious reputation. So were well-known, while others operated secretly, but they were all known for using extre thods to treat internet addiction.

"Ah, internet addiction. There are so many kinds of addictions nowadays. When will phone addiction be treated? There have been quite a few accidents caused by people playing with their phones," Liu Banxia said.

"It’s not easy to treat. Never mind managing kids; it’s impressive enough if adults can control themselves," Chen Xuehai chid in.

"Orthopedics has seen a significant increase in patients with cervical spine-related diseases over the past two years. Ophthalmology was already seeing a trend of myopia in younger children, and now it’s even more prevalent," Wu Mingyu added.

"Heh heh, you forgot to ntion one departnt: proctology is also very popular now," Liu Banxia said with a smirk.

"Teacher Liu, I can understand how using phones can lead to accidents. Many people use their phones while walking. The cervical spine is affected from constantly looking down, and eyes suffer from the phone screens. But what does proctology have to do with phones?" Miao Rui asked curiously.

"Seeing as you treated everyone to chicken legs, I’ll enlighten you," Liu Banxia said with a smirk. "You’ve only noticed people playing with their phones everywhere, even so who bravely walk down stairs while using them. Actually, even more people use their phones on the toilet. A task that should take five or six minutes often gets dragged out to at least half an hour."

Hearing his words, no one spoke; this was indeed the current reality. Even they would take out their phones to fiddle with when they went to the bathroom, naturally extending their ti there.

"So, you see, everything needs to be done in moderation. If this moderation isn’t controlled well, it will bring trouble to our lives," Liu Banxia said. "These things were originally ant to make our lives more convenient, but now, many illnesses are linked to these modern conveniences. I don’t know if technological progress is driving human developnt or just bringing more problems into people’s lives."

"Many of the patients we’ve received recently have problems caused by the indiscriminate use of antibiotics, right? So, should we continue to research even more advanced antibiotics?" he continued. "If you don’t research them, the bacteria get stronger day by day. If you do research them, the bacteria get stronger even faster. Without a good system of control, the rampant use of various antibiotics will result in the ergence of more superbugs and drug-resistant bacteria in the future."

"Of course," Liu Banxia’s tone shifted, "our little tradition of adding chicken legs and pig trotters is always welco. It enriches our taste buds and also brings the joy of giving to the person treating."

Miao Rui rolled his eyes. Since it wasn’t teaching ti, he didn’t need to pay too much attention to the Demon King.

"Ah, Director Jiang, why are you eating so late today?" Just as Liu Banxia arrived at the canteen, he saw Jiang Tao, the director of Proctology.

"I just finished a complex anal fistula operation with seven tracts. Did you all just finish a surgery too?" Jiang Tao replied.

"An ergency case, a car accident patient. We finally managed to save their life, but they’ll have to stay in bed for a long ti. It was a suicide attempt, so the dical expenses are a huge burden," Liu Banxia explained.

"You guys are doing really well now. That temporary heterotopic replantation of the amputated limb yesterday was beautifully done. Even patients from our departnt have been asking about it," Jiang Tao comnted.

"Word spread that quickly?" Liu Banxia was sowhat curious.

"It just shows how powerful the internet is nowadays; you guys might even end up in the news. When will you have so free ti? You still need to visit our departnt," Jiang Tao said.

Everyone chuckled, knowing what Jiang Tao’s invitation was for.

Technically, Liu Banxia could be considered to have co from the Anorectal Surgery departnt. After all, his first operation as chief surgeon was perford there, and that’s where he initially built his reputation.

"Director Jiang, let offer you this chicken leg first, a small token. I really can’t get away recently," Liu Banxia said. "Let’s wait until after the New Year. All our departnts will be expanding then, and I should have so free ti. Currently, I’m like a firefighter, rushing wherever a fire breaks out."

Jiang Tao nodded. "I know you’re busy now, but you might get even busier. Director Zhou is coming back tomorrow, so you all can relax a bit."

"Oh? Why didn’t I know that?" Liu Banxia asked, surprised.

"He was originally scheduled to return the day after tomorrow, but he’ll land tomorrow night. He knows you’re all busy, so he’s coming back to help share the load," Jiang Tao said with a smile.

Everyone was quite moved. This showed how much Zhou Shuwen cared for them.

"How do you still have such a good appetite?" Jiang Tao asked curiously, noticing how quickly the food on Liu Banxia’s plate was disappearing.

"I have to eat; I’m completely reliant on these als to keep going right now. It’s the sa for the others; dieting isn’t even a consideration," Liu Banxia said. "Luckily, I only have to endure this for a few more months before I can happily change positions. I’ll need a good rest then. Later, Wang Chao and Qi Wentai will split this workload; one will be in the ergency departnt, and the other in the upstairs wards."

"The goal is for them to beco attending physicians next year. By the year after, these ’kids’ will have matured. We’ll help them gain more experience, have them intern in Pediatrics and the ICU, and then they too can gradually beco attendings," Liu Banxia continued. "They’re all good kids with decent skills. I’ve poured my heart and soul into trying to keep them here, yet these little rascals are still hesitating."

Chen Xuehai glanced at him, amused. Liu Banxia had indeed put in a lot of effort to retain these interns.

"But don’t decide to stay just because I said so; this concerns your future lives," Liu Banxia added. "If you feel like it, occasionally treat to a chicken leg or a pig trotter, and co back to visit when you have ti. That would make perfectly content."

The heartfelt atmosphere was instantly shattered by that remark.

Miao Rui and the others didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. They really didn’t know what to say about Demon King Liu.

The al was quite lively, mainly because the number of patients had decreased, allowing everyone to eat in peace. If it had been as busy as the first half of the month, could they have chatted so leisurely?

"Teacher Liu, do you have a mont?" Su Wenhao asked after they returned to the Ergency Center.

"Yes, let’s go to my office. It seems you’ve made a decision. I hope it wasn’t influenced by ," Liu Banxia said.

"Teacher Liu, actually, it was influenced by you," Su Wenhao said. "If it weren’t for you, this decision would have been truly difficult. I’ve decided to stay at our Ergency Center. This opportunity is very precious, and I don’t want to give it up."

"Attracted by the attending physician position I dangled out there?" Liu Banxia asked with a smile.

Su Wenhao shook his head. "That’s only one aspect. I’m confident that as long as I study diligently, I can secure an attending physician contract at the Second Hospital within three years. You once said that even if we want to return to our original hospitals in the future, we should acquire sufficient dical skills before doing so. I’ve only scratched the surface of many of your skills, and studying under you will allow to grow faster."

"To get such praise from an honest person like you, it seems I’m doing quite well," Liu Banxia chuckled.

Su Wenhao looked slightly embarrassed; this was the first ti in his life he had praised soone so directly.

"However, you still need to get your family on board with this. If necessary, I can give you a three-day leave," Liu Banxia said seriously. "To put it plainly, we live for ourselves, but also for our entire families. Getting their understanding and support is fundantal."

Su Wenhao scratched his head. "Teacher Liu, could you possibly arrange a dormitory for in the future? If I send my salary ho to my family, that would also be a way of helping them out."

"A dormitory is no problem; I still have enough pull in our hospital for that. But you still need to talk to your family and get their approval. That way, you’ll be able to happily endure the ’torture’ here at the Ergency Center in the future," Liu Banxia nodded.

This wasn’t an issue. He wouldn’t even need to request it from his superiors. If his standing in the Second Hospital couldn’t even manage sothing this small, then all his ti here would have been for nothing.

He was in a good mood; at least one more person was confird to be staying. Even though he had told Su Wenhao to choose for himself, deep down, he had been hoping Su Wenhao would stay.
