The new information from Wang Chao invisibly added another layer of pressure on Liu Banxia.

To him, what happened to himself now really didn't matter. As long as he was happy with his work, everything else was secondary. But now things were different. It might seem like it was just about whether he'd get promoted, but it involved much more. He was grateful to both Chief Director Chen and Director Zhou. Therefore, his personal feelings on the matter didn't count right now; there was only one thing to do: fight for it with all his might.

"President Liu, think about it yourself. I'll go think about my own issues; they're giving a headache too," Wang Chao said, and then slipped away.

He knew Liu Banxia needed ti to digest this information. Even though it was just a candidacy for deputy director of the fledgling ergency center, the position was fraught with peril. There was one more thing he hadn't told Liu Banxia: if it turned out Liu Banxia couldn't beat the competition, they might arrange for Chen Xuehai to lose the selection, thereby pushing Liu Banxia into the position. Internally, such a maneuver would seem rather shaful. But to outsiders, it would demonstrate just how stable Chief Director Chen's authority was. Don't assu such things are absurd; under certain circumstances, these absurdities were quite possible. Of course, this was sothing his family's Old GrandMaster had said, and he wouldn't dare repeat it to Liu Banxia. Liu Banxia was already under imnse pressure; if other problems cropped up later, things wouldn't be pretty. After all, Liu Banxia had a "record." With his temper, who knew when he might act up again?

The interns also noticed that 'Big Devil Liu's' mood seed a bit off, so they decided to keep their distance for the ti being.

After drawing lots, Liu Yiqing, Su Wenhao, and Qing Kewa stayed to help, while Li Hao and Huang Bo went to the operating room to watch surgeries.

Liu Banxia's heart and mind were in a ss. After mulling it over, he headed up to the neurosurgery ward.

The ward was quite crowded. Besides the three mbers of the Lin Family, there was an unfamiliar woman, and on the bed lay a small boy about seven or eight years old.

"Banxia, are you really that busy? If my surgery hadn't been postponed a day, would you even have co up? Let introduce you, this is your sister-in-law, and this is your nephew," Lin Chenglin greeted enthusiastically.

"Hello, sister-in-law. Brother Lin hasn't stopped talking about you. He'd show up at my place in the middle of the night, then dash off again," Liu Banxia said with a smile.

"Dr. Liu, hello, thank you for your trouble," Lin Chenglin's wife quickly said.

"Hehe, anyway, I've turned a new leaf. From now on, I'll accept supervision from my wife and son," Lin Chenglin said.

"I've been quite busy recently. Uncle Lin, Auntie, don't worry too much. Director Xiao was temporarily called for a surgical consultation. He'll be back this afternoon, and Brother Lin's surgery will be the first one tomorrow," Liu Banxia said.

"Banxia, coming here gives us peace of mind," Lin Chenglin's father said.

"I also heard from Chenglin, if it weren't for you, he wouldn't have been able to turn his life around. A family should be together; that's what makes a family. If he dares to make another mistake in the future, I'll break his legs."

"Haha, he wouldn't dare, not even if he had all the courage in the world," Liu Banxia said, laughing.

"He told at the ti, it was like being reborn, and he needed to live the rest of his life carefully. I even prepared a lot of barbecue, but he ran off before he could eat any."

"Hehe, I didn't get it before. I wasn't even afraid of death, so what else was there to fear? I stayed outside your sister-in-law's door for a week," Lin Chenglin said.

His wife glared at him. Although they had reconciled now, he was still on probation. This was all for the child's sake; the child had suffered the most.

"Is there anything here that needs adjusting? I'll arrange it later," Liu Banxia asked again.

"There's nothing to adjust, everything has been arranged very well," Lin Chenglin said.

"Seriously though, once I've recovered, when you have so ti off, you absolutely must co to our place for a al. Whether it's my life, or the true reunion of our family, none of it would have been possible without you."

"Yes, Banxia, you must co for this al. If you don't, Auntie will keep worrying about it," Lin Chenglin's mother also spoke up.

"Of course, that's no problem, though my schedule is pretty unpredictable right now. Brother Lin knows how it is; when I get busy, it's hard to say when I'll be free," Liu Banxia said.

"Anyway, when I'm free, Qiaoqiao and I are always scrounging for als, either at my ntor's place or President Qiu's. Neither of us is much of a cook, you see."

The Lin family was very happy that Liu Banxia had readily agreed.

This wasn't an invitation intended to ensure more diligent surgical care, but a genuine expression of gratitude to Liu Banxia.

The old couple also longed for their grandson, but what could they do? After all, their son had really ssed things up. But now, everything was fine, and the family was happy together.

"Alright, you guys stay here, I need to check on the other wards. If you need anything, just call . Don't be shy; this is a luxury ward, after all, you have that right," Liu Banxia joked.

"Once I am fully recovered, having a nice al with you will be enough," Lin Chenglin said.

Liu Banxia smiled and nodded, walking out of the VIP ward.

Since I'm already up here and just looking for a distraction, I might as well continue my rounds.

The next ward he visited belonged to the man with hemophilia.

"Dr. Liu, co and have so fruit. I've gained a lot of weight from all the eating and sleeping," the patient quickly greeted him upon his arrival.

Without ceremony, Liu Banxia grabbed a banana. "You're almost out of the woods. A few more days, and you should be able to leave. But you must be careful in the future; get a check-up the mont anything feels off."

The patient nodded. "Don't worry, I value my life more than you do. There's barely any drainage these past few days. Does that an the tubes can co out soon?"

"Let's wait one more day. We've held on this long; one more day won't make a difference," Liu Banxia said with a smile.

"Alright, let's hang in for another day then. To be honest, I'm tired of being here, just eating and sleeping all day," the patient confessed.

"Consider it a break for yourself. With the daily hustle, it's hard to truly relax. Even during the Spring Festival holiday, you can't really rest; in fact, you probably end up more tired," Liu Banxia pointed out.

"That makes sense. Visiting relatives is a responsibility for us younger folk," the patient nodded in agreent.

"Get so rest. I feel relieved just seeing you're okay. I'll head out now and see other patients; it always cheers up," Liu Banxia declared.

The patient chuckled. Even though Dr. Liu was blunt, he didn't mind; in fact, he was quite happy.

Dr. Liu had been very clear: his main purpose in visiting him was to gain so happiness. That was fine with the patient. Without Dr. Liu, he wasn't sure what would have beco of him.

After seeing these two patients, Liu Banxia continued upstairs. This ti, he again visited a VIP ward, belonging to Shen Liming, who had undergone a total hip replacent.

"How's rehab going? Don't rush it; rehabilitation is nearly as important as the surgery itself," Liu Banxia said with a smile.

"I'm still working at it; I have to persevere," Shen Liming responded.

"I've gotten a bit used to it now, but the physical therapist said I can't increase the intensity or do movents with too wide a range yet. Dr. Liu, once I'm fully recovered, will I be like a normal person?"

Liu Banxia nodded. "Personally, I don't see why not. Of course, it depends on how you asure it. Normal daily life shouldn't be a problem. Of course, if you're aiming to be a top athlete, that might be difficult."

"Hahaha, that's reassuring to hear!" Shen Liming exclaid with joy.

"Aren't your parents here? Can you manage on your own?" Liu Banxia inquired.

"I'm fine now. Let them be; they get anxious watching move so slowly," Shen Liming divulged.

"Let them visit every few days. Each ti they co, they can see my progress, and that will make them happy. It was my misfortune to get sick, but I can't let my parents suffer along with ."

Liu Banxia nodded. "Honestly, I really admire you. If it were , I definitely wouldn't be as strong. Without my family's support, I doubt I could have endured the post-surgery period."

"Dr. Liu, please don't praise like that. I've figured things out now. Now, I need to focus on finding a wife and put making money on the back burner for a while," Shen Liming announced.

"Before, all I thought about was making money, working day and night, rushing projects. And what did it get ? I nearly died."

"I used to think that if I had money, everything would be easier, including finding a wife. That idea isn't entirely wrong; after all, you need money to live. But once you've reached a certain standard, focusing too much on money isn't the way to go."

Liu Banxia gave him a thumbs up. "That's a great way to think, very insightful. My wife has a lot more money than I do, but I don't care."

"Hahaha, I've read so old news about you, the brave Dr. Liu who isn't afraid to live off his wife," Shen Liming teased with a smile.

"That's right, I am who I am, and I don't hide it," Liu Banxia also chuckled.

"Alright, I have to go. Just be careful. Don't overdo the exercises in your eagerness to get out and find a wife; that could actually hinder your recovery."

Shen Liming nodded. Although he moved slowly, he still escorted Dr. Liu out of the ward.

If Liu Banxia's mind had been in turmoil before he went upstairs, he was much calr now.

Seeing the patients he had helped recover, their smiling faces, and hearing their words of gratitude—that sense of satisfaction was enough to soothe all his inner turmoil. It might seem selfish, but for him, this was the simplest source of joy.
