In the morning, Liu Banxia showcased a bit of his skill. After finishing his tasks, he took a round in the wards to check on his patients. With that, his morning’s work was completed.

His role as Chief Resident was quite stress-free because the other departnts were well-equipped and highly competent. They rarely needed to consult him about situations; patients who reached those departnts were all capably managed.

"President Liu, latest news! Chief Director Shen’s new appointee, Xu Qixin, will reportedly start the day after tomorrow." During lunch, Wang Chao ca over with his tray.

"Is the news accurate? When he arrives, will he co directly to our Ergency Center or go to the inpatient departnt?" Liu Banxia asked curiously.

He was quite intrigued by this Xu Qixin, but not because he viewed him as a villain. New positions and the resulting competition were perfectly normal.

It doesn’t an soone is a bad person just because they compete with you.

Xu Qixin, as a chief physician in plastic surgery, to be headhunted by Shen Liqun, must be soone with considerable skills.

This couldn’t be mishandled. It was Shen Liqun’s first major move to make his mark at the Second Hospital. If Xu Qixin wasn’t up to par, Shen Liqun would be the one to lose face in the future.

A truly skilled person like him coming to the Ergency Center would undoubtedly be able to establish and support the plastic surgery departnt.

"He will co directly to our Ergency Center, and then an attending physician from plastic surgery will be transferred here. Don’t you feel any pressure?" Wang Chao asked curiously.

Liu Banxia laughed and shook his head. "What pressure? When the plastic surgery folks co, it’ll actually save us trouble. If sothing needs handling, we can just let them take care of it."

"Wouldn’t it be great to have so spare ti to rest? So patients can be directly referred to them, which will also lighten the burden on our general surgery departnt significantly."

"I even think that once I step down as Chief Resident, work will be much more relaxed. Then I’ll have enough ti to spend with Qiaoqiao. How nice would that be."

"I really have to hand it to you. Even our Old GrandMaster said that your way of thinking is sotis different from others," Wang Chao said helplessly.

"Anyone else would definitely be concerned. But you? You’re just thinking about how to slack off. It’s not that it’s wrong, it’s just... your way of thinking is a bit different."

"By the way, we admitted a patient with a C. difficile infection yesterday. This is the second patient in our hospital who needs a fecal transplant. We’re doing a detailed examination today and plan to do the transplant tomorrow."

"Then you’ll have to do your best. The last procedure was very successful; I hope this one goes just as smoothly," Liu Banxia said.

"President Liu, why do you think I’m still a bit nervous? I originally wanted Brother Hui to do the transplant when he’s on shift tomorrow, but he refused," Wang Chao said.

"He said that even though I’ve done one procedure, this is considered the first patient for our Ergency Center’s Fecal Transplant Team, so I still have to be the one to do it."

"Silly boy, sotis you just think too much," Liu Banxia said.

"In any other hospital, that way of thinking would be excellent. Competition is everywhere; you need to be constantly vigilant and strive to grab all the credit and opportunities for yourself."

"That way, you’re sure to reap plenty of benefits in the future, whether it’s a promotion, a salary increase, or sothing else. That’s true not just in hospitals, but in almost any workplace."

"But our Ergency Center is different. Many people who co here don’t actually have grand ambitions. They’re content to wait for the Ergency Center to upgrade and just ride along with its success."

"The sa goes for Wang Huan and Xu Hui, and even Wei Yuan. We’ve all talked about this before. So, just put your mind at ease, and there won’t be any problems."

"Frankly, it mainly cos down to our current group. I’m sowhat special. You have strong connections. Qi Wentai has benefited from Old Qin’s legacy. So, to sum it up, I have connections too, you see."

"When the Ergency Center is officially upgraded in the future, relevant functional departnts will also be established. Most likely, people will be chosen from our current group. After so selection, everyone can get a position."

"After all, the Ergency Center is quite special; it’s not an ergency departnt in the traditional sense. What’s the current scale of our Ergency Center? And what will it be like after a genuine upgrade?"

"The empty floors upstairs aren’t just for show; they’re reserved for us. Taking on so administrative duties then wouldn’t be a problem, though it would be a bit more tiring."

"That’s why I’m really not anxious about whether I can beco a deputy director. Sooner or later, I’ll beco a minor official, enough to impress my father-in-law and make him feel proud. That’s all that matters. You don’t want these atballs? Then I’ll eat them for you."

Wang Chao blinked. He had been so engrossed in listening that his eating had slowed. There was no escape; Liu Banxia, with his large appetite, had targeted the atballs and would definitely devour them.

Anyway, Liu Banxia felt no pressure at all and genuinely welcod Xu Qixin’s imminent arrival. If he couldn’t compete with Xu Qixin, that would be normal. Whether in terms of title or qualifications, he couldn’t compare. But having such a capable person join the Ergency Center would definitely lessen everyone’s workload when it ca to receiving patients. Especially considering the economic benefits, the plastic surgery departnt could bring a lot of revenue to the Ergency Center. There were so many potential plastic surgery procedures, many of which were easy to perform yet highly profitable. This also needed to be considered. If the Ergency Center ran a deficit every month, where would everyone earn their bonuses?

Having eaten his fill, Liu Banxia sauntered back to the Ergency Center. Looking around, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of accomplishnt.

Although his ti in the Ergency Center hadn’t been particularly long, the mories he’d made here far surpassed those from his three years of residency training at the Second Hospital.

"Teacher Liu, the patient is 63 years old with a history of diabetes. He’s experiencing abdominal pain, diarrhea, and mild vomiting. His blood sugar was asured at 10. After a stool test, he was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis," Su Wenhao said, walking up to him.

"We’re considering an ofloxacin intravenous drip and rehydration therapy. If we use a glucose solution, do we need to monitor the patient’s blood sugar constantly?"

Liu Banxia nodded. "If the patient is severely dehydrated or has a significant electrolyte imbalance, intravenous rehydration is appropriate. If it’s not severe, oral rehydration might suffice, as it’s easier to monitor."

"However, with the patient in this state, a blood sugar of 10 isn’t particularly low. Monitor it closely. If his blood sugar exceeds 15, intervention for glucose control will be needed."

"Diabetes really isn’t sothing to be taken lightly. If you underestimate it, it will cause problems for you. You’ve done well to identify this issue; that’s how it should be. Write down the orders, and I’ll sign off on them."

"Thank you, Teacher Liu," Su Wenhao said cheerfully.

"Teacher Liu, a worker fainted at a construction site and is on his way here," a dispatch nurse called out.

"Okay, everyone else has gone to eat. I’ll take this patient," Liu Banxia responded, glancing around and spotting Miao Rui, who had just returned.

"Miao Rui, a patient who fainted at a construction site is on his way. You take the lead on this one, and I’ll supervise. How about it? Think you can handle it?"

"Teacher Liu, is this a particularly special patient?" Miao Rui asked, surprised.

"Not especially," Liu Banxia replied.

"You scared for a second, speaking so seriously. I thought it was sothing major. No other conditions reported? It can’t be heatstroke, can it?" Miao Rui muttered, sowhat relieved.

"Haha, I was just trying to liven things up. No other conditions were reported, so it’s probably not too serious," Liu Banxia chuckled.

Miao Rui was at a loss for words. The big boss is always so mischievous, he thought.

After about seven or eight minutes, the patient was brought in.

"Fifty-three years old. He fainted but revived on-site. Vital signs are stable. His coworkers were still worried, though, so they brought him straight here," the paradic reported.

"Take him to an examination bed. And can the coworker who ca with him please help register?" Miao Rui said.

"Sir, before you fainted, did you feel anything unusual? You seem to have sweated a lot. Were you working in an enclosed space?"

The patient shook his head. "No, just doing so odd jobs. It was hotter today, though. Lately, I haven’t had much of an appetite; I don’t really feel like eating."

"Old Zhao, just tell the doctor everything," the accompanying coworker interjected. "It’s more than just not wanting to eat; you’ve lost a lot of weight too, more than five kilograms! And hasn’t your back been hurting a bit?"

"Well, if you don’t eat, you lose weight, right?" the patient grumbled. "If you ask , we didn’t even need to co to the hospital. This trip is just hundreds of yuan down the drain."

"Sir, are you saying you’ve lost your appetite? No desire to eat at all? And how exactly does your back hurt?" Miao Rui inquired.

"Not exactly," the patient explained. "It’s just that swallowing food feels a bit difficult. Plus, work is tiring, so I drink a little alcohol to relieve the fatigue, and that ans I eat less."

"The back pain is just normal pain, you know? People who do manual labor always have so aches from straining themselves. We still have to earn money. Doctor, can I just get my blood pressure checked and then leave?"

Liu Banxia, standing nearby, frowned slightly but didn’t say anything.

Miao Rui was handling this patient, and he needed to control the entire process. Besides, they were still in the early stages of diagnosis, so there was no need to rush.

"I still recomnd you undergo so examinations," Miao Rui said. "As you ntioned, you do heavy physical labor, so your usual diet needs to be adequate to support that."

"Besides, you’re sweating excessively right now and seem sowhat dehydrated; these are things we need to pay attention to. Before you fainted, did you feel any pain in your chest?"

The patient furrowed his brow. "I think so, but I’m a little fuzzy on the details."

"At the very least, we need to do an electrocardiogram and a cardiac ultrasound. We can’t ignore symptoms of chest pain," Miao Rui said.

"And given how quickly you’ve lost weight recently, I also think we should investigate that. You said it’s not because you don’t want to eat, but because swallowing is difficult. We should also check your throat or esophagus, don’t you agree?"

Liu Banxia breathed a sigh of relief. That was exactly the issue he had just been considering, and Miao Rui hadn’t overlooked it. Definitely worth a gold star.
