"Teacher Liu, this is the father of the patient with ovarian torsion."

It was after eight in the evening when Xu Yino brought a man over.

"Doctor, how's Xiaoyu?" the patient's father asked anxiously.

"The surgery was very successful. The blood vessels have been sutured, and the twisted ovary has been repositioned. Let take you to the ward to see her. Did you co by yourself?" Liu Banxia asked.

"Ah... her mother gets carsick; even trains make her sick," the patient's father sighed.

"Alright. Our nurses will keep a close eye on her. After all, it's a won's ward, so it's not convenient for you to provide care," Liu Banxia nodded.

"Doctor, what really happened? The police just said Xiaoyu was in a car accident. I initially thought it was a scam," the patient's father asked.

"Regarding the specifics, it's best to wait for the traffic police to explain them to you later. I'm not very clear on the details myself," Liu Banxia said.

"But for now, you can rest assured. She's doing very well after waking up from the anesthesia. Our surgical intervention was also very tily, and we prevented any further damage."

"Furthermore, the other ovary, the one that wasn't twisted, shows no signs of necrosis, so it won't affect her future fertility. Xu Yino, please contact the police and inform them."

Xu Yino nodded and started making the call.

He wasn't sure about this family's financial situation. Even if the car accident was triggered by a dical condition, the insurance payout likely wouldn't be enough, given how severe the accident was. But he didn't know the specifics; those would have to be handled by the traffic police. Not to ntion, there was another patient who was brain-dead, and their family was currently in the ward with them.

"Zhou Qian, how's the patient in Bed 2?" Liu Banxia asked Nurse Zhou Qian casually as he arrived outside the ward.

"She's stable for now, but a bit agitated," Zhou Qian said.

"That's a normal stress response as the anesthesia wears off. By the way, you all will have so extra work tonight. The patient's mother couldn't travel due to motion sickness, so only the father managed to co," Liu Banxia said.

"Don't worry, Sister Li has already briefed us," Zhou Qian replied, nodding with a smile.

"That's reassuring. Go get so fruit later; I brought it from ho. I've been swamped all day," Liu Banxia said.

"Thank you, Dr. Liu. I'll go in a bit," Zhou Qian replied.

One shouldn't assu that being a doctor gives you the right to order nurses around. Doctors and nurses belong to two entirely different systems; they rely collaborate. Of course, since everyone usually works together and knows each other well, asking for a favor now and then is acceptable. However, taking such assistance for granted would be inappropriate.

In the ward, the patient's neck had been sutured where the blood vessels were repaired, making it difficult for her to turn her head. Despite this, she saw her father arrive, and tears welled up and stread down her face from the corners of her eyes.

Liu Banxia and Xu Yino didn't go further in, choosing to give the father and daughter so private ti.

"Xu Yino, when you talk with the patient later, ask if she has any other dical history. I have a feeling her ovarian edema was caused by sothing else," Liu Banxia whispered.

"Teacher Liu, are there any other tests we can do?" Xu Yino asked.

"We're not sure yet. Let's talk to the patient first. Once we have a better assessnt, we can order the appropriate tests," Liu Banxia said.

"Even though Doctor Shi Lei examined her in the operating room, it was a bit rushed, so he might not have gotten a completely accurate picture. In any case, an ovary doesn't just swell for no reason, right?"

Xu Yino nodded in agreent.

The patient is only twenty-six, and no other conditions were found during the examination. Infection can probably be ruled out.

Seeing that the father and daughter had nearly finished talking, Liu Banxia led Xu Yino over.

"Just focus on your recovery for now. Your surgery wasn't overly serious," Liu Banxia said to the patient.

"Thank you, Doctor," the patient said.

"Actually, I wasn't the one who perford your surgery; it was Doctor Shi Lei from our Ergency Center. You weren't inford of the details imdiately afterward because you were still under anesthesia, and your family hadn't arrived yet," Liu Banxia explained.

"Were you feeling unwell while driving today? During the surgery, we discovered that one of your ovaries had twisted."

"Yes, I was on my way to the hospital for a check-up because of severe abdominal pain. I didn't expect that I wouldn't make it. The pain suddenly beca excruciating, and I lost control of the steering wheel," the patient said.

"When did the pain start?" Xu Yino asked.

"It started this morning, but it wasn't that bad at first. Doctor, will this affect my ability to have children in the future?" the patient asked.

"No, it won't. Currently, there's just so edema. The swelling increased the ovary's volu, which in turn increased the risk of torsion," Xu Yino explained.

"Have you experienced any other discomfort recently? Generally, ovarian enlargent can be a sign of an underlying condition or have other potential manifestations."

"No, I've been feeling fine. The pain just started suddenly today. I even went to work, but it beca so unbearable that I had to take leave to co to the hospital," the patient said.

Her tone was firm, but Liu Banxia detected a flicker of hesitation and uncertainty in her expression.

This only deepened his suspicion. The most frustrating thing was when patients concealed information, making an accurate diagnosis impossible.

"Try not to worry about other things for now. Your most important task is to rest and recover. Your condition isn't too severe. If you need anything, just press the call bell," Liu Banxia said.

"Since your father is here, we've also notified the police. Let your father handle the subsequent matters. Don't feel burdened; just focus on getting better."

"Thank you, Doctor," the patient responded.

Liu Banxia nodded and led Xu Yino out of the ward.

"Doctor! Doctor..."

They had only taken a few steps when the patient's father called out from behind them.

"Is there anything else?" Liu Banxia asked.

"Doctor, can I stay and accompany Xiaoyu in the ward? My heart aches for my child," the patient's father said.

"Well..." Liu Banxia frowned.

"Technically, we don't have a strict rule against it. When we have too many patients, we sotis have male and female patients in the sa ward."

"However, she is a female patient, and the weather is quite warm now, so patients tend to wear light clothing. If sothing were to happen, it could easily lead to misunderstandings or conflict."

"You should consider this carefully. It might be fine during the day. However, I personally advise against it. If any conflict does arise, it will only worsen your daughter's mood and recovery."

The patient's father nodded and walked back into the ward.

This sort of thing really could be a headache.

From the father's perspective, his daughter had been through a major car accident and surgery; naturally, he wanted to stay by her side and take care of her. But what about the other patients in the ward? They might have reservations. There are differences between n and won. Even doctors need to be extra cautious during physical examinations, let alone ordinary people.

"Teacher Liu, what do you think is the cause of her condition?" Xu Yino asked.

"I don't know yet. But sothing is definitely going on. The patient is concealing sothing, so I can't be sure," Liu Banxia replied.

"You can't tell either?" Xu Yino asked, a bit curious.

"Why would I be able to tell? Do you think I can determine life and death with a single glance or sothing?" Liu Banxia said, exasperated.

"If the patient doesn't cooperate, there's nothing I can do. We can't perform any other examinations right now. We'll just have to wait for the follow-up and take a closer look at the ovary then."

"Heh heh," Xu Yino said, grinning. "I thought you already had so idea of what was going on."

Liu Banxia was speechless. He hadn't realized Xu Yino held him in such high esteem, almost as if he were a miracle doctor. Still, a question lingered in his mind: What was the cause of this unexplained ovarian edema? If the ovary hadn't twisted, could today's tragedy have been averted?

DING! Task issued: Unexplained Ovarian Edema.

Open-ended Task: Patient suffers from ovarian edema, leading to abdominal pain, which subsequently caused a car accident. The patient is also concealing information about her condition. The host must conduct further diagnosis to determine the true cause. Task rewards will be issued based on the diagnostic results.

Liu Banxia felt a twinge of worry. It had started as a seemingly minor condition, but because he'd overthought it, it had now generated a system task.

Just as he reached the Ergency Center lobby, the traffic police officers arrived. The remaining matters were for them to handle, falling outside the scope of a doctor's duties.

"Teacher Liu, why don't you go get so rest? Su Wenhao and I can keep an eye on things here," Xu Yino suggested.

"It's alright. I didn't perform any surgeries today, so I'm still quite energetic," Liu Banxia replied.

"Have you thought about what your work will be like once you officially graduate and beco a doctor in our Ergency Center? It's only a few days away now."

"Technically, I should be giving you all so ti off right now. Let you go back and have a good get-together with your classmates. After all, for many of you, it will be difficult to et again in the future."

"It's not a big deal, really. I figure, if they're true friends, with smartphones these days, we don't even have to change numbers. We'll always be able to contact each other," Xu Yino said.

"Besides, once we start working, everyone will be busy, and there won't be much ti for idle chat anyway. Teacher Liu, do you still keep in touch with your classmates? Frequently?"

Liu Banxia nodded. "I do keep in touch with so, yes. But most of them are working in the south. The pay scale is higher in the south, or they push hard to get into places like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, or Shenzhen."

"You wouldn't think it looking back at our school days; everyone seed so ordinary. But man, once we graduated, it was like they all suddenly developed amazing abilities. As for , I just had to pack my bags and head ho, and I even got scamd in the process."

Xu Yino chuckled. The story of Liu Banxia getting scamd during his job hunt was hardly a secret in the Ergency Center. Perhaps that experience was what shaped him into the formidable figure he was today.
