"Kids, go bring in the fruits from outside, there's a lot!"

After returning to the Ergency Center, Liu Banxia yelled out.

The interns were startled. What was happening? Why had he gone mad and bought so many fruits?

Miao Rui and Su Wenhao initially thought the two of them would be enough. But seeing the towering piles of fruits in the trunk and on the seats, their shared thought was that Teacher Liu must have been provoked.

Just the two of them definitely couldn't handle it all. It was ti to call in reinforcents.

Liu Banxia had bought boxes of fruits—big cherries, grapes, mangosteens, Bosc pears... basically all kinds of high-end fruits.

"My God, Teacher Liu, you've really gone wild," Xu Yino, holding a Bosc pear, offered her diagnosis.

"Hahahaha, I'm happy! So, I want to share so happiness with everyone," Liu Banxia answered, laughing.

"Teacher Liu, can you just cut to the chase? If you're happy, what happens to us afterward?" Liu Yiqing asked with a pained expression.

"That's right. We can eat our fill now, but what kind of torture awaits us tomorrow? You can't just give us a little sothing sweet and then drop a taphorical bomb on us," Xu Yino added.

"What are you all talking about? I'm just purely pleased. Oh, and Qiaoqiao is expecting twins, hahaha... let revel in this a bit more. Hehe, I'll go to the break room to celebrate." Liu Banxia laughed manically for a bit and then ran off.

"Oh my God, is it true? Did Qiaoqiao tell you?" Xu Yino looked at Liu Yiqing.

Liu Yiqing shook her head in confusion. "Qiaoqiao didn't say anything. Did she go for a check-up today? I've been at the hospital all day."

For the two of them, this was big news. They imdiately took out their phones and contacted Qiaoqiao for confirmation.

Of course, the news was accurate. After verification, the two girls were also overjoyed. Now they could eat without worrying about this being a trick from Liu, the big demon.

It was wonderful news, after all. Twins aren't that easy to conceive. Not to ntion, the fruits this ti were high-end; buying so many, Liu, the big demon, had indeed spent a fortune.

"So, have you called the people upstairs yet?"

Liu Banxia, after reveling so more on his own, walked out.

"They've already picked them up, Teacher Liu. Aweso! We can continue buying tomorrow," Xu Yino said, giving a thumbs up.

"Indeed, days like this don't co often," Wang Chao said, breaking open a mangosteen.

"It's a happy occasion, so we must celebrate," Liu Banxia said proudly.

"Chao, you need to get a move on too. Your pace is too slow. We're in similar situations; you have to work harder, or I'll leave you streets behind."

Wang Chao glanced at him and decided to hold back.

Even if he sped up, it wouldn't necessarily help his wife conceive twins. It's fate. Let this guy gloat for now.

Shi Lei, snacking on grapes nearby, wisely chose to slip away. Today's Liu Banxia has gone crazy. Better to keep my distance and not engage with a madman.

"Banxia, not bad." Zhou Li, who was on duty that night, also ca over.

"Hehe, just okay, the Third Best in the country," Liu Banxia said with a wide grin.

"All you know is how to provoke people, huh? Ugh... I regret it so much. No, I must discuss this with Old Wang later; we have to move our plans forward," Zhou Li glared at him.

Liu Banxia looked helpless. "Anyway, you call the shots in your family. Comrade Old Wang has to obey. But don't be too hard on Old Wang; he still has surgeries with coming up. You can pick on him again after this busy period is over."

"Such a rascal," Zhou Li rolled her eyes at him.

"I have a day off the day after tomorrow. Will Qiaoqiao be ho? I want to visit her. I've been so busy for so long; when I'm off, I just want to lie down at ho."

"Sister Li, with our relationship, why do you need to make a special trip to see her? When you have ti, and I'm off, let's go out for a al together. Anyway, my term as chief resident is about to end soon; I'll have plenty of ti," Liu Banxia said.

"Qiaoqiao said she has a lot of costics, and she has no use for them now. She told to use them; otherwise, it would be a pity to throw them away," Zhou Li said.

"That seems to be the case. Ever since she got pregnant, she hasn't been wearing much makeup," Liu Banxia said.

"Then you don't have to make that trip; it's quite far. When I'm off duty next ti, I'll bring them to you, and that'll be that. If you go, you'll have to cook for Qiaoqiao."

"That works too. I'll take it easy and rest well at ho. It's just that your place is quite far. Aren't you two considering buying a house in the city?" Zhou Li asked.

"That depends on Qiaoqiao. Now with two babies on the way, I think the house there will be spacious enough if we make so adjustnts. Let's live there for another two years. Worst case, I'll just do more commuting," Liu Banxia said.

"By the way, I heard from the others that Sister Wang's mother's condition is getting worse. It's probably a matter of ten days to half a month," Zhou Li said in a lowered voice.

Liu Banxia nodded. "Let know when the ti cos. I'll definitely be busy during this period and might not have ti to attend to it. Sister Wang has always been very good to ; it's just that our contact lessened after she was transferred."

"Then you'll have to work hard. When I chatted with Sister Wang the day before yesterday, she said that when you get promoted to deputy director, you have to treat us to dinner," Zhou Li said.

"How's your promotion to deputy director coming along? I've been aning to ask for a while but didn't want to distract you. However, the atmosphere at the Ergency Center has been great these past few days; with one surgery after another, even so patients are talking about you."

"You've got to keep going; you're not far from being a renowned physician. Everyone's counting on you, even Old Wang, so you must push yourself."

Liu Banxia nodded wryly. "Today, when I found out Qiaoqiao is expecting twins, I almost backed out of the running. But now, the decision for deputy director isn't really up to anymore; I can't influence it much."

"Let's see how the leaders arrange it; I can only obey. I was already quite torn, and now..."

"Dr. Liu," the dispatch nurse called out at this mont, "a car accident patient will be brought in soon. An electric bicycle driver, pierced by a dian barrier in the abdon and neck."

"Everyone, pay attention! Prepare blood bags; I'll take this patient. Reserve an operating room and the CT room. Wang Chao, you assist. Any two interns can join," Liu Banxia said.

"You've already perford two major surgeries today. Why don't I take this one?" Shi Lei suggested.

"It's fine. I'm not even that tired today, and it's been a while since I've handled an ER case. I'm worried I might be out of practice," Liu Banxia replied.

Shi Lei nodded.

It was true; ergency patients were different from those on the operating table. If a doctor didn't regularly handle ergencies, even with excellent dical skills, they might not always be able to cope.

Liu Banxia had mostly taken a step back from frontline ER work lately, so handling one patient wouldn't be an issue.

They waited for less than ten minutes before the ambulance arrived at the entrance.

"The patient is in his twenties, knocked down by a car while riding an electric bike. He has penetrating wounds from a guardrail in his neck and abdon; the object has not been removed. Blood pressure is 60/90, heart rate 120. It appears an artery was injured at the neck wound, with blood seeping out. The patient was unconscious at the scene and was given oxygen and IV fluids," the paradic pushing the gurney reported as he brought the patient in.

"Resuscitation Room 1! After transfer to the bed, connect ECG, run a rapid blood test, cross-match, and start transfusion," Liu Banxia ordered.

As they pushed the patient, he observed him carefully.

The abdominal wound probably wasn't the biggest issue; the critical one was on the neck, where small trickles of blood were oozing from the edge of the impaled barrier.

He leaned towards the paradic's assessnt: an artery was likely punctured, and only the blockage from the tal bar was preventing massive blood loss.

"Everyone, be careful. This piece of guardrail isn't very stable. Keep it steady when transferring the patient. The carotid artery might be lacerated, and there's likely internal bleeding in the abdon," Liu Banxia reminded them as they entered the resuscitation room.

Everyone carefully lifted the patient onto the examination table.

Liu Banxia let out a sigh of relief. If sothing had gone wrong during the transfer, resuscitation would have been incredibly difficult.

Bleeding from the carotid artery could be fatal in minutes.

"Open IV access imdiately, transfuse blood! And... DAMN IT!"

Liu Banxia was still giving orders when he abruptly cursed.

The patient happened to regain consciousness at that exact mont, turned his head slightly, and a jet of blood spurted from the wound on the right side of his neck.

There wasn't much Liu Banxia could do other than imdiately thrust his fingers into the wound.

"Cut his clothes! Get a cooling blanket! Rapid transfusion, IV fluids!" Liu Banxia roared, his fingers feeling the blood ceaselessly pulsing against them.

The pressure in the artery was imnse. Even as he applied pressure, he couldn't completely stanch the flow.

"Where's the cooling blanket? Hurry! Ice packs, anything to lower his temperature!" Liu Banxia yelled again.

Everyone understood the urgency. There was no ti for anything else but cutting clothes and finding ice or cooling blankets.

"Hang another unit of blood! He's about to go into hypovolemic shock! Get the OR ready, quickly! Shi Lei, go prepare!" Liu Banxia continued to shout, placing his left hand over his right on the wound.

"Teacher Liu, there's fecal matter leaking from the patient's abdominal wound. I'm afraid it's an intestinal perforation!" Xu Yino reported.

"There's still a chance. I've got it pinched for now, minimizing the bleeding. Push him to the OR, quickly but steadily! Go!" Liu Banxia nodded.

Others had already cleared a path to the operating room, but now they needed to coordinate with Liu Banxia's movents. The artery in his neck, one of the most vital in the human body, was under trendous pressure.

Everyone around was tense, understanding the gravity of the situation. If they couldn't stop the bleeding quickly or transfuse enough blood, the patient would go into hypovolemic shock and die.

Even with tily blood transfusions, if blood supply to the brain was delayed, it could cause varying degrees of brain damage, including neuronal death or even brain death.

They were racing against the clock because they needed not only to stop the bleeding but also to restore blood supply. So, no matter how anxious Liu Banxia was, he couldn't perform surgery in the resuscitation room.

Without operating room conditions, it would be very difficult to repair the carotid artery, let alone address the abdominal injuries.
