Liu Banxia made a round in the upstairs ward and more or less figured out what had transpired.
The female patient didn’t want to inform her family, feeling the incident was too shaful. Additionally, since it was a traffic accident, dical insurance wouldn’t cover the costs.
The male patient’s wife, due to the ambiguous relationship between her husband and the female patient, was also unwilling to advance the money for the female patient’s treatnt. It wasn’t an outright refusal to pay; rather, she intended to settle it after the insurance claims were processed.
Liu Banxia wasn’t worried. The hospital finance departnt rely needed to be inford of the situation. As long as an insurance company was involved and no further complications arose, the compensation amount would be sufficient.
After he provided an explanation, this minor issue was considered resolved.
In fact, the hospital had relevant regulations for such cases.
With signatures from the insurance company, the traffic police departnt, and the hospital, patients could use the "green channel" for expedited processing. However, Liu Banxia had been too hasty the previous day, and the male patient’s wife hadn’t managed to handle the insurance matters yet.
All Liu Banxia needed to do, in his capacity as Chief Resident of the Ergency Departnt, was to call the hospital’s on-duty administrator. After that, it would be out of his hands.
After a quick breakfast, he saw Shi Lei, Chen Jianxin, and Wang Chao arrive at the ergency room.
"Hahaha, I am most gratified!" Liu Banxia comnted brashly.
"You certainly know how to stir things up. It seems being Chief Resident leaves you with a lot of free ti," Shi Lei glanced at him.
"Boss, don’t say that. With you here, I feel much more confident. Please, take a seat and rest. Don’t overtire yourself," Liu Banxia quickly fawned.
Chen Jianxin and Wang Chao were amused. This was Liu Banxia’s special skill—he could be completely shaless when needed.
"Alright, settle down. What do you need from this ti?" Shi Lei asked.
"Well, I was wondering if you could cover a shift for soday so I can go ho and get my records sorted out. Also, since things are quiet now, could I pop over to the Anorectal Departnt to help with another dressing change?" Liu Banxia asked cautiously.
"Go on, go. I imagine you’d sneak off there even if I didn’t let you," Shi Lei said with a sigh of resignation.
With Shi Lei’s permission, Liu Banxia zood off.
Although he had already spoken with Jiang Tao, and was currently on a 24-hour shift in the Ergency Departnt, he wasn’t worried about failing to complete his daily tasks. However, he had made a promise to Jiang Tao earlier and felt obliged to inform him in person about it.
"My, my, you’ve been promoted and still find ti to visit us?" Jiang Tao teased.
"I had to co and apologize. I genuinely can’t fulfill the promise I made," Liu Banxia replied.
Jiang Tao waved his hand. "Your sincerity is what counts. Later, when the new resident doctors arrive, you can give them a good lecture."
"Director Jiang, rest assured, I can always squeeze out the ti for that," Liu Banxia confird.
"Alright, go back to your work in the Ergency Departnt. Director Zhou will be focusing mainly on the Ergency Departnt during this period, so make sure you perform well," Jiang Tao said with a smile.
DING! Jiang Tao’s Favorability Quest completed.
Completion: 80%. Acquired 500 experience points.
After leaving, Liu Banxia reflected on the matter. He’d almost forgotten about this quest. It seed if he hadn’t made this trip, as ti went on, he might have genuinely faced a penalty for Jiang Tao’s favorability quest.
This was the first quest he hadn’t completed to 100%. It appeared the system wasn’t just teaching him dical skills but also lessons about how to conduct himself.
Indeed, how much dical skill did he truly possess at this point? He didn’t yet have the grounds to be arrogant.
"Look, that’s Dr. Liu!"
Just as Liu Banxia reached the Ergency Departnt, he heard a shout. Then, a group of six or seven people rushed over. Not only did they surround him, but they also held "weapons" in their hands—cellphones, one for each person.
"What can I do for you?" Liu Banxia asked curiously.
"Dr. Liu, my na is Song Xueping. Please accept my apology; otherwise, I’ll lose my job." A young man facing him knelt directly on the floor.
Liu Banxia was startled and quickly dodged to the side.
A man’s knees are precious; accepting another’s kowtow was no small matter. Besides, Liu Banxia genuinely didn’t understand what was happening.
He moved, but the kneeling man turned to face him again.
"What are you doing? Get up, quickly!" Liu Banxia urged, shuffling aside again, now anxious.
"Dr. Liu, please accept my apology. If I can’t obtain your forgiveness, our company will suspend my account," Song Xueping continued to kneel.
"You have to tell what this is about first. Can you please get up?" Liu Banxia said helplessly.
"I was misled last ti and reposted your video with so comntary. Your hospital sent a lawyer’s letter to both and my company. Please, forgive . I’ll kowtow to you." After saying this, Song Xueping began to kowtow.
These were genuine kowtows; Liu Banxia could hear the thud of Song Xueping’s forehead hitting the floor tiles.
This commotion attracted the attention of many onlookers. What began as re curiosity soon led to a crowd gathering around them.
Liu Banxia frowned. Sothing about this situation felt off; a normal apology wouldn’t involve such a grand spectacle.
Just as Liu Banxia began, "I..." a voice from the crowd shouted, interrupting him, "Dr. Liu, aren’t you taking this too far? He’s already kowtowing to you. Why can’t you just forgive him?"
"Exactly! It’s not like it’s a capital offense. Such a grown man is kneeling and kowtowing to you; what more do you want?"
"This is quite an eye-opener! So, just because we’re sick and paying the hospital, they think they can treat us this way?"
"He was just misled and only reposted it. You’re a doctor of high standing; why pick on soone who’s just struggling to make a living as a strear?"
"Everyone, quiet down! Quiet down!" Liu Banxia shouted.
Though he yelled with all his might, no one listened. Instead, a few people in the crowd helped Song Xueping up from the ground.
"If you continue this unreasonable behavior, I’ll have security escort you out," Liu Banxia said sternly.
If Liu Banxia still hadn’t realized by now that these people had set him up, then he truly had lived a sheltered life.
"Everyone, take a look! This is what doctors are like nowadays! He’s kowtowed and apologized, but this doctor is still unforgiving! Does soone have to die before he’s satisfied?" one of the young n holding a phone shouted.
"Stop talking, it’s all my fault," Song Xueping said, then bowed insincerely to Liu Banxia. "Dr. Liu, whether you forgive or not, I apologize."
"I’m sorry, but I don’t accept such a disingenuous apology. I will now be consulting with my own lawyer regarding this matter," Liu Banxia stated coldly.
"A lawyer? Are you trying to scare us? We’re just common folk! Everything cos down to reason. Do you really have to push soone to their death?"
"That’s right, count in! I’ll be waiting for you to sue too! Whoever doesn’t sue is a coward!"
Having achieved their objective, the group spat out a few more curses and left, still grumbling.
