Chapter 1002: Three Innate Abilities Chapter 1002: Three Innate Abilities Cain frowned as he focused on the energy pool of the unconscious assassin.
While the Eye of Gluttony allowed him to perceive the change in energy density, he lacked the abilities or tools to analyze the energy pool of the man thoroughly.
“Ah, the Level System grants great raw power, but other than that, even I, who masters spells, am severely restricted in several fields.
Even though I am a step away from the Soul Realm, I still have to rely on my senses to perceive the world around .” Cain couldn’t help but sigh as he saw the severe shortcomings of the Level System.
It could allow the rise of mighty warriors but limit their path to machines of destruction and nothing more.
Although Cain would have wanted to obtain more information about the man’s cultivation, he knew that was not possible, at least not with his current abilities.
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, replenishing his energy pool and heightening his senses.
Several hours went by with Cain’s power rising more and more until finally, deep into the night, he opened his eyes as the power of the Eye of Gluttony burst like a radiant star.
Cain was very careful as he placed his hand on the forehead of the unconscious assassin, slowly channeling the devouring power of the Eye of Gluttony into the man’s energy pool.
Soon, a deep trail of energy and mories began to reach his brain, and a flash of surprise appeared in his eyes.
‘The amount of energy is nearly twice as much as mine despite the size of our energy pool being the sa, and the density is almost five tis greater.’ Cain was shocked by the sudden revelation, but it made it clear why the assassin’s power rose so much once he channeled the full power of his energy pool.
While that information was important, and Cain knew it would be of great use in the future, his true goal was sothing else.
“There!” Focus heightened in Cain’s eyes as he saw the golden stream of force that seed to carry the power of creation inside the assassin’s energy pool.
He was cautious, as the previous attempt had shown how fragile this force was.
The assassin was an extrely powerful Sky Lord, so his chances were higher.
Still, it would only take a mistake for the golden force carrying the Innate Ability to shatter, transforming into raw energy that could only work to replenish his reserves.
Cain’s focus rose higher and higher as he continued extracting the golden force, taking it out of the assassin’s energy pool before depositing it into his own.
“¡Boom!” A small tremor erged from inside Cain’s body, and a broad smile appeared as he felt the new ability that had awakened inside him.
His eyes soon regained focus, and he turned toward the assassin, who now resembled a mummy without any form of vitality or energy.
Cain would not feel bad about an enemy’s death.
He took the man’s belongings and space ring before closing his eyes and began to analyze the broken mories that the Eye of Gluttony managed to steal.
Soon, coldness and disdain appeared in Cain’s eyes as he saw that the one who sent the assassin after him was none other than Oliver.
Shortly after the eting, this entitled mber of the High Council contacted the assassin and gave him a picture of Cain along with his location.
‘Such impatience.
Is Councilman Oliver a traitor who wants to weaken the Trinity Empire or just a fool who cannot endure people clashing against him?’ An annoyed expression appeared on Cain’s face as he attempted to figure out Oliver’s goal.
Deducing the actions and goals of an intelligent person was easy, but those of a fool who acted based on his emotions and did not consider the consequences were much more challenging.
Cain did not doubt that a force within the Trinity Empire was helping the invasion force from the shadows, but he did not know who they were or how deep their power and influence ran.
After learning the identity of the person behind the assassination attempt, a contemplative expression appeared on Cain’s face.
‘What should I do?’ Information about the failed assassination would embarrass the High Council and might help Cain’s demand for the key to the Legendary Realm.
As for trying to pin the bla on Oliver, that was not possible.
Cain did not have proof, and even if he did, there was no way the High Council would side with him over Oliver.
After all, the man’s father was a powerful Legend.
They might even consider killing him to keep the matter quiet.
Cain carefully analyzed the situation, weighing the risks and benefits.
In the end, he decided to keep quiet about the assassination attempt.
He knew that if Oliver was part of a traitor force, they might send soone even more powerful to finish the job. ‘It is better to keep quiet about it, act as if nothing happened.
That way, they would not know if the assassin failed or just ran, giving ti.’ Coldness appeared in Cain’s eyes as he made a decision, and the next second, he raised the assassin’s corpse into the air and incinerated it until there was nothing but dust.
Once every trace of the assassin’s corpse faded, Cain closed his eyes and began to look back into the mories.
While the Eye of Gluttony had gained energy absorption and ability absorption feats, its mory assimilation power was weaker in the Crimson World than in Aether.
The further back, the less information Cain could access.
Cain kept his eyes closed for nearly half an hour as he organized all the information he obtained from the assassin.
A disappointed expression appeared on his face, as what he obtained was not of much use, but it still gave him an idea of the man’s background.
The assassin’s na was Sindarin, and he was not part of any force.
It seed the man had reached Trinity Island less than ten years ago, coming here as he escaped from the South Coast of the main continent.
Sindarin had worked with Oliver for a long ti, killing the councilman’s political rivals and pretty much anyone that annoyed him too much.
As a good assassin, he did not have a fixed residence, and all his precious belongings were always carried in his personal space ring.
Unfortunately for Cain, the knowledge about the South Coast and the key to condensing the energy pool were not in the mories he managed to rescue. “Well, at least I learned about Oliver’s involvent.” Cain was content enough with that information; besides, he obtained sothing very useful.
A sharp light appeared in Cain’s eyes as he channeled the new ability that had rged into his energy pool, and in the next second, his figure transford into an amorphous mass of shadows.
Cain could not help but analyze this power, and a strange expression appeared on his face.
The full extent and range of this ability appeared in his mind, giving him a minute and flawless understanding of its power and how to use it.
This ability would have taken years to train and an outstanding mastery over the Shadow Law in Aether, yet thanks to the universal rules of the Crimson World, the only thing that Sindarin had to do to obtain it was to reach Level 18.
The only thing Cain needed to do to get it was extract the golden force from the assassin’s energy pool and fuse it into his own. In the next second, Cain’s shadow figure lted into the ground as he moved around Councilman Irion’s residence.
No one detected his presence as he moved around, showing just how powerful the ability was.
Cain considered going to Oliver’s ho and killing the man but discarded the idea.
While the councilman was nothing, he could not face the man’s Legendary father. After testing its power, Cain returned to his residence, deactivated the ability, transford back into a fleshy figure, and analyzed his body and power.
“Now I have three Innate Abilities.
My Eye of Gluttony, the Dark Brotherhood’s Energy Shield, and Sindric’s Shadow Body.
These should be enough to help handle any enemy beneath the Legendary Realm.” Cain was glad about this new power, but it was still not enough.
The difference between a Sky Lord and a Legend was imnse, as the second harnessed the power of True Nas.
Legends rarely act, but if an invasion was going to occur, then there would definitely be such powerhouses in the enemy army.
“Ahh, there is not much I can do.
I will wait a few more days, and if things unfold according to plan, I should gain knowledge of the Legendary Realm soon.
If not, I will search for other alternatives.” With a decision made, Cain went back to his bed and continued to rest.
