Chapter 1013: Devouring the Dark Brotherhood (III) Chapter 1013: Devouring the Dark Brotherhood (III) Cain’s expression turned grave, his eyes sharp as he heard that.
Not only was the enemy’s power imnsely high, but the fact that the King was coming ant they were highly unlikely to turn back.
Usually, the leader of an organization on the islands that surrounded the Sea of Wonder would not embark on an invasion.
First of all, they were the shield that protected their hos, and without them, their domain would be a feast for anyone hungry enough to attack.
Secondly, if they were to fall, their entire kingdom would enter a state of turmoil from which it might not arise.
‘Why are they so desperate to invade the Trinity Island?
It doesn’t make sense if this is about obtaining wealth or simply wounding their old enemies.
Is there sothing I am not seeing?’ Cain could not help but ask himself these questions.
First, the Lynch Kingdom used the forces of an organization on the South Coast, which could not have been easy to obtain.
Imdiately after their failure, they started a second voyage, apparently ready to use every soldier in their army, including the King.
“Does your ability work on Legends?” The voice of Lord Commander Sarukan woke Cain out of his contemplation, and he gazed at the man with awe, trying his best to hide the desire in his soul.
‘If I devour the Spirit Force of a Legend, would I obtain their Legendary Ability?’ Cain did not let the temptation cloud his judgnt and focused on Lord Commander Sarukan before giving an honest answer.
“I have never tried, so I cannot say for sure whether I can devour their Spirit Force, and even if I can, I cannot affirm whether I will obtain their mories.” Lord Commander Sarukan seed to contemplate things for a few minutes before nodding and turning his gaze toward Archduke Halbinder, his eyes sharp and full of dominance, indicating the man to act.
Archduke Halbinder sighed as he nodded.
Their danger was cataclysmic, and there was no ti to hold grudges.
With a wave of his hand, the ground beneath their feet split apart, and a large ice pillar erged.
Cain was surprised to see an old man trapped inside the ice.
An average person would have perished, and even a Sky Master would not fare better, but the Eye of Gluttony showed him the bursting vitality and life force inside the man.
Thanks to the mories Cain had just obtained from the mbers of the Dark Brotherhood, he knew this man was Larto, the leader of the criminal organization.
Even more importantly, the man’s Legendary Ability was a dark dragon that could fight head-on with a Legend!
Archduke Halbinder did not waste ti and waved his right hand, dispelling part of the pillar of ice that contained the Legend of the Dark Brotherhood.
It did not take long for Larto’s head to be cast out of the ice, but the man remained unconscious, as even if he was a Legend, a month inside the ice had weakened him trendously.
Lord Commander Sarukan nodded toward Archduke Halbinder before turning his eyes toward Cain.
He did not utter any words, but the intent behind his gaze was clear.
Cain did not hesitate and took a deep breath before walking forward and standing right in front of the Legend from the Dark Brotherhood.
His power began to rise until it peaked, and the gray fla that appeared on his hands was the strongest he could summon.
Coldness and hunger appeared in Cain’s eyes as he placed his right hand on Larto’s head, and a smile appeared on his face as he saw how this force spread across the body.
Unfortunately, the smile did not last long since the mont the gray fla attempted to extend into the spirit of the Legend, an overwhelmingly powerful repulsive force struck Cain, pushing him back and nearly making him puke mouthfuls of blood.
Lord Commander Sarukan and Archduke Halbinder were stunned by the backlash the young man received and could not help but sigh. As a Legend, Larto had awakened his True Na, which was now the core of his existence and the purest form of his soul, and that was more than what Cain could handle.
“Are you fine?” Lord Commander Sarukan asked with a flash of concern.
He understood that backlash related to spirit techniques could be extrely dangerous, but his worries faded as he saw Cain standing straight and calmly cleaning the blood that trailed from the corner of his mouth.
“I was injured but will be fine soon.” Cain nodded to the leader of the Royal Guards before turning his eyes back to Larto, the hunger in his heart growing stronger.
He managed to feel the pure and majestic force inside the man, and he wanted it.
Of course, Cain did not let those thoughts distract him, and he adopted a solemn expression before glancing at Lord Commander Sarukan.
“It seems I am incapable of obtaining the mories inside his mind.
I could try again once I finish the crystallization of my energy pool if you so desire.” Lord Commander Sarukan stared at Cain and nodded.
While by that ti the war would have already started, Larto might have so insight that could help them figure out any hidden sches of the Lynch Kingdom, not to ntion the man had surely interacted with the traitors that hid in the Trinity Kingdom.
“Halbinder, go to the mages and adjust the magic formation.
We must enhance the Holy Elent if we are going to face the forces of the Lynch Kingdom.” Lord Commander Sarukan spoke to the scholarly mage.
Archduke Halbinder nodded toward the leader of the Royal Guard, and he glanced at Cain for a few seconds before clasping his hands and performing a slight bow before vanishing from the room.
Cain was slightly surprised by Archduke Halbinder’s behavior.
‘Strong and capable of recognizing his mistakes.
So sad his son is such a fool.’
