Chapter 1249: Adapt, evolve, overco (II) Chapter 1249: Adapt, evolve, overco (II) Cain’s form shifted as he adopted his gargantuan seventy-five-thousand-ter dragon form, his towering body dwarfing the Blood Monsters before him.

Since this would be a true test of power, it was clear that the best path forward was to face them in his strongest state, where his strength, endurance, and vitality were at their peak.

Without hesitation, Cain dove forward.

As soon as he was within five thousand ters of the creatures, the Blood Monsters attacked, lunging toward him with unrestrained killing intent.

Their eyes glowed with a malevolent light, and their grotesque forms moved with surprising agility.

Cain t them head-on, limiting himself to physical attacks to conserve energy for any unforeseen challenges.

His massive claws sliced through the air with precision, and his tail whipped around like a colossal battering ram.

The first Blood Monster leaped at him, its maw open wide to reveal rows of jagged teeth.

Cain swiped his claw across its body, sending it hurtling backward with a deep gash across its torso.

Another creature, resembling a gigantic predatory beast, charged from his left.

Cain spun skillfully despite his size, his tail smashing into the beast’s side.

Bones cracked under the force, and the creature was flung into the bloody mist, disappearing from sight.

The Blood Monsters were relentless.

Dozens sward around him, attacking from every angle.

Cain moved with practiced mastery, his movents a blend of raw power and calculated technique.

He reared up on his hind legs, bringing his front claws down onto two creatures that had dared to approach from the front, crushing them into the blood-soaked ground.

Despite the deep wounds he inflicted, the Blood Monsters seed unfazed, quickly recovering and returning to the fray.

Their resilience was remarkable, but Cain remained undeterred.

He charged through their ranks, his jaws snapping shut around one creature and flinging it aside.

His claws tore through another, and his tail knocked several more off their feet.

The clash was intense.

The air was filled with the sounds of roaring, snarling, and the thunderous impact of flesh against flesh.

Cain could feel the strain in his muscles, but he maintained his focus, aware that he needed to preserve his energy.

After exactly ten minutes of relentless combat, all the Blood Monsters pulled back, circling the scarlet dragon but ceasing their attacks.

Cain frowned.

Up until a few monts ago, no matter how much damage he dealt, none of the Blood Monsters had stopped their assault.

Now, they simply gazed at him with unreadable expressions.

Just as Cain began to wonder what was happening, the Blood Monsters started to tremble.

Under his watchful gaze, their forms began to change.

An imposing exoskeleton expanded across the bodies of so, their skin hardening into armor-like plates that glead dully in the dim light.

Others adopted a more fluid form, their flesh becoming elastic and malleable, rippling like liquid as they moved.

The transformations took less than two seconds to complete.

Without hesitation, the creatures lunged once more into the clash.

Cain’s eyes sharpened as he imdiately fought back against the horde.

He swung his claw at one of the Blood Monsters, expecting to send it flying as before.

To his surprise, his attack was halted as his claws clashed against the creature’s exoskeleton with a resounding clang.

The force of his blow was absorbed, and the creature stood its ground, pushing back against him.

His shock didn’t end there.

Another Blood Monster attempted to strike him from behind.

Cain whipped his tail around, striking the creature squarely.

While he managed to send it away, he noticed that his attack did little damage.

Its elastic flesh absorbed the impact, and the creature quickly regained its footing, charging at him once more.

The battle intensified anew.

Cain found himself adjusting his strategy as he faced these adapted foes.

The Blood Monsters with exoskeletons were now impervious to his claws, while those with elastic flesh negated the force of his tail strikes.

They worked in unison, exploiting their newfound defenses to press their attack.

Cain’s movents beca more deliberate.

He dodged a swipe from a creature’s massive claw, then ducked under another’s snapping jaws.

Despite his best efforts, he realized that his physical attacks were no longer as effective.

The creatures were adapting to his thods, and he needed to change his approach.

Deciding he could not continue like this, flas burst forth from his body.

Scarlet fire enveloped him, casting an eerie glow across the battlefield.

He opened his maw, unleashing waves of searing flas in all directions.

The intense heat washed over the Blood Monsters, scorching their exoskeletons and igniting the elastic flesh of others.

The creatures recoiled, shrieks of pain piercing the air.

Cain pressed his advantage, enhancing his physical blows with the power of fire.

His flaming claws sliced through exoskeletons that had previously withstood his attacks.

His tail, wreathed in flas, struck the elastic creatures with renewed force, the heat preventing them from absorbing the impact.

For a mont, it seed the tide had turned.

The flas were achieving their goal, weakening the Blood Monsters and disrupting their coordination.

However, not even five minutes after the scarlet flas appeared on the battlefield, the Blood Monsters pulled away from Cain simultaneously once more.

A strange liquid oozed over their bodies in the next second, coating them entirely.

The liquid shimred and hardened, forming a protective layer that glistened ominously.

Cain’s eyes narrowed as he observed this new developnt.

It didn’t take a genius to figure out that this substance would protect the Blood Monsters from his flas.

His suspicions were confird when he unleashed another torrent of fire, only to see the creatures advance through it.

While they weren’t immune, the damage they received was too minimal to act as a deterrent.

“Adapt, evolve, overco,” Cain murmured to himself.

Those three words echoed in his mind as he gazed at the Blood Monsters dashing toward him and understood what aspect of the Oniric Truth of Blood they represented.

Their adaptive physiology made them incredibly dangerous, but he couldn’t help but begin to smile.

Their evolution and transformation were executed so clearly that he could perceive the principles behind them, aning he could learn from them.

Determination surged through the soul of the scarlet dragon.

Instead of focusing on simply moving forward, he decided to put his full attention on the Blood Monsters, intending to force them into enough adaptations for him to fully understand how they did it.
