Chapter 1309: Killing an Archangel Chapter 1309: Killing an Archangel Cain’s eyes were cold as he unleashed every ounce of strength into his fist, connecting it squarely in the middle of Archangel Michael’s spine.
The power of Reaper Touch and the Oniric Truth of Destruction was on full display.
The sound of bones cracking echoed through the air before Archangel Michael’s figure was blasted into the sky at a shocking speed.
A mouthful of blood erupted from his lips due to the internal damage and the insidious energy left from the attack.
But things were far from over.
Before the Archangel could regain control over his body, a massive dragon claw the size of a mountain ca crashing down on him, striking with such power that it pushed him back into the ground.
Bahamut’s dragon claw made Michael feel as if his entire body would burst to pieces, rocking every one of his internal organs.
But there was no ti to lose in pain and agony.
Not a second after he crashed into the ground, a golden roc fell from the sky again, aiming to deliver the final blow.
Michael’s eyes widened as his instincts scread danger.
This was the first ti he had been in serious danger of losing his life in more than one hundred thousand years.
The realization sent a jolt through him, igniting both fear and fury.
“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!” A massive explosion of golden energy erupted as Lady Alune’s attack landed point-blank in the crater that held the Archangel.
The blast illuminated the sky.
Cain, Bahamut, and Alune gazed at the explosion, and a sharp light appeared in their eyes.
While that blast should have been enough to take down the Archangel, Michael had lived for hundreds of thousands of years, and they did not dare lower their guard for even a second.
“Is it over?” Cain asked, his voice steady but tinged with cautious hope.
“Don’t assu anything,” Bahamut rumbled, his golden eyes fixed on the settling dust.
The next second, Bahamut and Alune’s eyes narrowed as they glanced at the sky.
Hundreds of thousands of dots of white flas were gathering.
The flas coalesced, reshaping into Michael’s figure, his wings spreading wide, though tattered and scorched.
Cain noticed the Archangel a mont later, his expression turning solemn as he saw the man was still alive.
It was clear Michael was severely wounded-blood stained his body, and his aura flickered unsteadily-but there was still a massive amount of energy and vitality left in his body. Michael’s eyes were cold as he gazed at the trio, pure and crazed killing intent bursting from them.
His body glowed with energy, and without warning, his figure blasted into the distance, a streak of light hurtling away from the battlefield.
“He’s escaping!” Alune exclaid, her voice sharp.
Cain, Bahamut, and Alune’s eyes widened as they realized the Archangel was fleeing.
They did not hesitate and dashed after him with all their power.
Michael was overwhelmingly powerful, but he was wounded, and if they could stop him before he reached the domains of the Sun Church, there was a chance they could end his life, securing victory in the war.
Cain jumped into Bahamut’s back as the Immortal Dragon transford into a stream of draconic energy, his massive form cutting through the sky with astonishing speed.
Lady Alune beca a beam of moonlight, her ethereal essence allowing her to keep pace with the others.
The sight of Archangel Michael escaping and the superpowerhouses pursuing him rocked the rest of the battlefield.
The angels were at a loss.
The remaining Archangels were already in a desperate situation, having to fight the Void Eclipse powerhouses from the Tiamat Sect and Moon Cult.
Now that Michael had left the battlefield, there was nothing else they could do but consider retreat.
“Loyd, what do we do?” one of the Archangels called out, panic edging his voice.
Archangel Loyd’s face twisted with frustration and anger.
“We have no choice.
Regroup and fall back!” he commanded.
Loyd and the rest of the Archangels unleashed their energy, causing massive explosions that pushed away the Immortal Dragons and Saintesses.
Waves of white scorching flas incinerated everything around them, forcing their opponents to put distance between themselves.
Using this montary reprieve, the Archangels flashed into the distance, their forms blurring as they sped away.
“After them!” Grand Elder Kryos roared, his icy aura surging.
He and the rest of the Grand Elders were not about to allow the Archangels to escape.
They gave chase, attacking with everything they had.
The Void Eclipse powerhouses of the Moon Cult joined the pursuit.
While they were not engaging in near-suicidal attacks against the enemies, they unleashed all their power, releasing destructive waves toward the fleeing Archangels.
A path of destruction was forged as the dragons and saintesses chased after the Archangels for over an hour.
The sky above them and the earth beneath were sundered, waves of destructive energy spreading in all directions.
Their power was so imnse that a massive canyon was starting to appear on the landmass-a new geographical feature in the massive Helix Continent.
No one was fighting and attacking with more power than Grand Elder Kryos.
His freezing energy was so intense that it seed to make even the passage of ti slow down.
He chased after Loyd with everything he had, his desire to see the Archangel dead strong enough to make him burn his own life force.
“You will not leave!” Kryos shouted, his voice echoing like a winter storm.
He lunged forward, using his entire body as he dived toward Loyd.
Frost ford in the air around him, and shards of ice hurtled toward the Archangel like spears.
“Hmph!” The Archangel sneered, his expression contemptuous.
He dodged the icy breath from the Immortal Dragon with a swift maneuver, then unleashed a scorching shockwave that sent Kryos hurtling back through the air. “Insignificant lizard,” Loyd spat venomously.
“You should join your whorish wife in he-” Loyd was not able to finish his sentence.
He felt a sudden, searing pain as a palm connected with his back.
Ti seed to slow as he realized soone had closed the gap without him noticing.
“Apocalypse Blast!”
