Chapter 1399: Core Elder Azure Chapter 1399: Core Elder Azure Before the butler could even take a step to guide her further into the residence, a voice echoed at the gates.

“Please, Inner Elder, co into my residence.” There was no mistaking that it was Cain’s voice.

It sounded as if he stood right beside them, though he was nowhere to be seen.

While such a trick was not exactly impressive in a world where cultivators could quite literally raise mountains with their minds, Elder Luzina could not help but frown.

She had detected no trace of Cain’s presence or Ego Wave.

Such an absence ant the young man had to be exceptionally talented and proficient in spiritual forces.

Indeed, in a sect where many displayed raw might, finding soone who could conceal himself so thoroughly was noteworthy.

Not wishing to waste any ti on small talk with the butler, Elder Luzina walked calmly into the residence.

Her footsteps were steady, each echo in the hallways accompanied by the subdued elegance of soone used to wield considerable authority.

Soon, she arrived at a spacious room where Cain was seated, his posture relaxed yet attentive.

“It is a pleasure to et Hunter Master Laurifer,” Luzina said, greeting Cain with a small, cordial smile.

Her voice carried politeness and a subtle undercurrent of authority.

“Your feats are quite impressive.

Not only is your battle power imnse, but you were able to find more than a dozen people who were doing everything in their power to hide.” At these words, Cain returned her courtesy with a asured smile.

Since the woman displayed proper respect and a congenial attitude, he saw no need for hostility.

Instead, he spoke with cool politeness.

“Thank you for your kind words.

I’m afraid I’m at a disadvantage since I don’t really know Inner Elder Luzina or the reason why you ca here.” His tone was warm enough to match her cordiality, yet held a slight edge that indicated he was no stranger to caution.

Noticing that Cain’s attitude was relaxed and easygoing, Luzina’s own smile grew a bit more natural.

“Elder Laurifer arrived only recently and has spent most of his ti either cultivating or on missions, so it’s perfectly normal for you not to be familiar with ,” she explained.

“As for the reason I ca, it is to extend an invitation in the na of Lady Azure.” A sharp light flickered across Cain’s eyes at the ntion of that na.

Though he had never interacted with Lady Azure before, the mories he had acquired revealed precisely who she was: an extrely powerful and ancient Core Elder, considered among the strongest powerhouses of the sect beneath the Third Realm.

According to rumor, she once faced a Third Realm cultivator and managed to escape with her life.

She was also one of three people controlling a faction in the Light Camp.

Those revelations coursed through Cain’s mind, yet he allowed none of his shock to appear on his face.

Instead, he maintained a calm smile.

“Oh, I’m flattered.

But why would soone like Core Elder Azure need to gather with ?

After all, as you say, I just arrived recently in the sect.” Elder Luzina’s eyes narrowed slightly at those words.

In her understanding, soone like Cain would typically be well-inford, especially regarding the Gu Contest.

Yet, from his question, it seed as though he knew very little about it.

That raised the suspicion that he was either feigning ignorance to glean information from her or genuinely uninterested.

She did not wholeheartedly believe Cain’s claim of ignorance-she suspected that he might be playing the fool in order to gauge her next move.

Her suspicions were correct.

Cain naturally assud that a Core Elder of such renown wished to summon him for sothing tied to the Gu Contest, but he possessed only fragnts of knowledge about this event.

As such, he wanted to learn more, and if Luzina were willing to offer clues, he would not stop her.

Luzina gazed at Cain for a few monts, calculating how best to proceed.

Finally, she spoke again in that sa asured tone.

“As you might or might not know,” she began, “there is a very important event in the Gu Sect called the Gu Contest.

I cannot give you the specifics, but it’s an event in which every elder of the sect must participate.

As you can imagine from the nature of the sect, it is very dangerous.” Cain’s eyes narrowed slightly, absorbing this new piece of information.

So it was mandatory for every elder to take part, whether they desired it or not, and danger was a certainty. Luzina waited a mont, allowing Cain to digest her words.

Seeing that he was indeed processing the implications, she carried on, “Before the contest begins, factions will form, and they will attempt to weaken each other to improve their chances.

Most of the elders have already joined a faction.

Those like you, who have yet to do so, are quite a commodity.” A subtle emphasis on the final word underscored how valuable free agents could be in the lead-up to the Gu Contest.

Concluding that piece of information, Luzina fell silent.

While Cain yearned to ask more questions, he recognized that the woman would volunteer no further details.

She only implied that each faction was jockeying for advantage and that soone like him could tip the scales.

“I understand,” Cain said at last, inclining his head.

“Thank you very much for the information.

I will gladly accept Lady Azure’s invitation.” He reasoned that eting Lady Azure might be the most straightforward path to glean the intricacies of the upcoming event and the nature of the Light Camp’s power struggles.

Elder Luzina smiled upon hearing his acceptance and nodded politely.

“Excellent.

As you might guess, Lady Azure is extrely busy with her duties to the sect, but she will be able to receive you in three days at her residence.” The faint satisfaction in her eyes suggested that this was precisely the outco she had hoped for.

“Perfect.

See you soon,” Cain replied.

He stood up, gesturing to escort Luzina out.

After a brief exchange of courtesies, the Inner Elder took her leave.

Cain watched until she was gone, then let out a small breath, relaxing his body.

“One down, two to go,” he muttered.

“I just hope the other two factions will be as easygoing as this one, but I shouldn’t get my hopes up too high.”
