Chapter 1424: I’m entitled to defend myself Chapter 1424: I’m entitled to defend myself “You’re in a very troubled situation right now, brat,” Apex’s voice echoed in Cain’s mind, carrying a note of caution.

“If you want to remain a trusted partner of the old Anima and keep obtaining treasures, you’ll have to take down the people from the Night Prince’s faction.

But that will definitely enrage that man, the one you were supposed to be working for from the very beginning.” Hearing this, Cain only smiled.

Despite the serious warning embedded in Apex’s words, cold calculation danced behind Cain’s eyes.

He was no stranger to complicated sect politics or the precarious line between alliances and enmities.

“I know, but I already have a plan,” Cain said, his tone clipped yet brimming with quiet confidence.

“Worst-case scenario, I’ll just fully align with the Anima and use my connection with the Night Prince to harm him.” For a mont, coldness and brutality glead in his gaze before receding behind his usual aloof expression.

In truth, Cain felt no loyalty toward the Night Prince-or, for that matter, anyone else in the Gu Sect.

One of the many reasons he had chosen this demonic sect was precisely because it teed with individuals ready to kill one another for power.

He found the prospect of butchering them all wholly unbotherso.

With that settled in his mind, Cain did not linger.

After a short run through the corridors of the sect, he arrived at the Gu Armory.

His steps were confident, and a asured calmness spread through him.

The mont he stepped inside, Cain spotted the young woman he had slapped during their very first eting.

She was not alone this ti; an imposing man belonging to the Godslayer Humankind stood beside her. As soon as Cain stepped into the armory’s open space, the woman flashed a vicious, cold smile.

By contrast, the man wore a deep frown, eyes ablaze with hatred and rage. A small smirk tugged at Cain’s lips as a single thought flitted through his mind.

‘So that’s why she was so cocky the last ti I saw her.’ Sure enough, the man began striding toward Cain, his aura flaring with freezing-cold Star Power.

An intense chill spread across the air.

Cain rely raised an eyebrow, unimpressed.

“So you’re the one who dared to harm little Olive,” the man said, voice carrying a relentless fury.

“You were lucky I was outside the sect when it happened, but now that I have returned, you’ll have to answer for your cris!” Cain regarded him with a bored expression.

Judging by the man’s aura, he was a Middle Divine Transcendence Master-soone newly ascended to that rank.

Rather than waste words, Cain simply walked past him, ignoring the man’s hostility.

The man’s eyes widened in shock at being treated so dismissively.

“You’d better get on your knees and-” the man began, reaching out in a rage-driven reflex to grab Cain’s shoulder.

His hand was cloaked in icy power, intending to force Cain to bow or apologize.

Yet he never finished that sentence.

In a heartbeat, Cain twisted around, and a loud snap echoed through the armory.

The man’s arm bent at a grotesque angle, bones shattering under the sudden force.

Before he could even cry out, Cain’s scorching hand clamped down over his face, driving him into the ground in one brutal motion.

Only a heartbeat earlier, Olive’s face had been twisted into deviant glee, but now pure terror paralyzed her.

She watched in horror as Cain pinned her so-called protector with a single hand.

“Let go of Lord Arian!” she cried, desperation mixing with fear.

But Cain rely directed a glance at her, his eyes glowing with red flas.

For an instant, Olive perceived the outline of a massive, demonic serpent ready to devour her.

She stood rooted to the spot, paralyzed by the sense of monstrous power emanating from Cain.

“Hmph,” Cain sneered at Olive.

Then he refocused on the man called Arian, who lay pinned beneath him, face contorted in agony.

Cain’s hand emanated scorching heat, intensifying the pressure against the man’s head.

It seed only a matter of seconds before his skull would crack like brittle stone under the strain.

“Elder Laurifer, don’t you believe that’s enough?” a new voice echoed in the armory.

Cain turned to see Zoan standing nearby.

Yet he did not ease his crushing force.

Arian’s muffled screams testified to the severity of the grip, his skin blistering under Cain’s Star Power.

“He attacked without any formal provocation,” Cain stated, shifting his gaze briefly to a patch of ice around his shoulder.

“According to sect rules, I’m entitled to defend myself.

I can even kill the aggressor.” Color drained from Arian’s face when he heard that statent.

He had existed as a Divine Transcendence Master for hundreds of thousands of years, lording his power over anyone who crossed him.

And with his newly minted Middle Divine Transcendence rank, he believed himself untouchable.

Now, in the face of the young man who’d once slapped Olive, all that arrogance shattered, replaced by stark terror.

Zoan’s eyes were sharp as he noted Cain’s disregard for his initial plea.

He considered stepping forward to intervene physically, but the intense look Cain gave him made Zoan’s instincts flare with alarm.

A thought flickered through his mind.

‘His power seems to have skyrocketed since we last crossed paths…’ Deciding it was too risky to engage Cain directly, Zoan carefully chose his next words.

“He’s part of Master Lucius’ faction, and his brother holds a very high standing within that force,” Zoan explained.

“Even if you do not belong to the sa faction, it’s unwise to incur the ire of soone like that.” At this ntion, Cain finally loosened his grip, permitting Arian a tortured gasp of air.

Lucius was one of the three leaders in the sect’s light camp, and the only one Cain had not t personally.

Cain recalled that he’d once received an offer from Lucius, but after formally joining Elder Azure, there had been no point in pursuing that connection.

Still, that didn’t an Cain wanted to openly offend soone strong enough to stand on par with Elder Azure or the Night Prince.
