Chapter 1429: Divine Beast’s ambush Chapter 1429: Divine Beast’s ambush While Cain did not care about most of the gathered delegation, there was one person he did notice-a middle-aged woman of the Deus Behemoth Race.

She resembled a humanoid water dragon, her entire body glowing with a luminous sky-blue radiance.

‘Renan.’ The na hovered in Cain’s mind the instant he saw her.

She was the very target the Night Prince wanted him to kill.

He let none of that grim intention surface on his face; outwardly, he displayed only calm indifference.

“I have arrived,” he said shortly, addressing the group gathered near the south gate of the Gu Sect.

Many sets of eyes regarded him coldly.

So bristled at his aloof manner, but truth be told, they had never been fond of Cain’s reputation.

His ease in consorting with mbers of the Dark Races had made him infamous in the sect. Before tension could spike, a booming voice cut through the air.

“Let’s go.

There’s no point in wasting ti on useless bickering.” Cain turned to see an Anima, evidently the leader of this contingent.

Judging by the sheer force of his aura, the Anima was at the very extre of Late Divine Transcendence.

Cain understood that peak Divine Transcendence masters rarely left the sect during this period, lest they beco primary targets for rival factions.

Hence, this Anima and others like him were the highest battle power the Gu Sect dared deploy outside its walls.

“Yes, Lord Arakos!” ca the response from the group, many nodding in unison.

Though a few threw scornful looks at Cain, none spoke openly.

With that, the entire delegation launched into the sky, streaking out of the sect in a well-coordinated exodus.

Cain also took flight, a flare of Star Power enveloping his body.

Even without revealing his Space-Ti Laws, he easily matched their pace.

They soared across bleak expanses, heading for Golden Lake, where they would et with more mbers of the Gu Sect.

Cain let the wind tug at his robes while discreetly observing the others.

Of them all, one pair in particular claid his attention: Arakos and Renan.

Arakos flew protectively close to her, scanning the surroundings with vigilance.

It was clear that, to him, Renan’s safety overshadowed that of the rest.

The entire scenario complicated Cain’s plan.

He had every intention of slaying Renan, not just to satisfy the Night Prince’s whim but also to harvest her soul and ego for deeper mastery of Tribulation Enhancent.

Yet Arakos’s presence, coupled with the sect’s watchful eye, would make it challenging to achieve that silently.

Cain glanced at Renan once more, letting the faintest of frowns mar his expression.

“I’ll have to be clever,” he reasoned.

He knew that, without revealing his dual cultivation or unleashing the Fallen Archangel Battle Set, his apparent battle power rested only at the bottom tier of Late Divine Transcendence.

That alone wouldn’t allow him to surpass Arakos, much less stealthily kill Renan while avoiding notice.

A forced confrontation would be ssy and risky, and it would blow his cover with Lady Azure as well.

Just as he contemplated potential strategies, the robotic voice of the Absolute Life Form System echoed inside his mind.

[Multiple enemies north of your position!

Energy waves equal to Late Divine Transcendence Masters!] Cain’s eyes narrowed with imdiate caution.

Whoever these enemies were, they cloaked themselves skillfully enough to evade even his Ego Wave scanning.

Had it not been for the system’s [Advanced Multidinsional Scan Force Field], he might have flown straight into their ambush.

Montarily, he weighed whether to warn the group but decided against it.

They were not his friends, and calling them “allies” would be a stretch.

rely five minutes ago, he had considered how to kill one of them.

Moreover, he had no legitimate explanation for how he detected such a threat when other Late Divine Transcendence had missed it.

Any suspicion could endanger him further.

In the end, Cain just silently mobilized his energy and ready himself for battle. The group’s path snaked between two towering mountain ranges whose peaks scraped the clouds.

It was a perfect choke point for an ambush.

Sure enough, the next mont exploded into violence.

“RUMBLE!!!” One of the mountains disintegrated in a catastrophic burst of debris, revealing more than twenty massive creatures, each exuding a fierce killing aura that weighed oppressively on the group.

Before the delegation could properly react, the beasts lunged, a frenzy of claws, talons, and elental roars.

“In formation!

As one!” bellowed Arakos.

His voice resonated with authority, snapping them out of their shock.

They aligned into a defensive battle formation with well-practiced precision.

Being newly arrived and separate from their coordinated tactics, Cain was effectively on his own, but that was how he preferred it.

Without hesitation, he summoned his magma halberd, channeling scorching Star Power through its tal.

Yang Runes seared across his flesh, intensifying his aura and augnting his physical might.

Almost simultaneously, an imnse ice eagle swung around from above, striking at Cain with lethal talons.

“BOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!” Fire clashed with ice in a furious collision, generating a billow of steam that swallowed up Cain’s figure.

anwhile, Arakos and the rest faced different monstrosities-gargantuan serpents, colossal rocky golems, and other monstrous entities.

Tremors shook the air, and elental shocks scattered lethal debris.

So among the group spared a glance at the roiling steam cloud where Cain fought, but none truly worried for him-if he died, so be it.

In their eyes, he was an unpredictable figure of dubious loyalty.

A hush of swirling vapor masked Cain’s fight from prying eyes, and after a few seconds, silence reigned inside.

The group’s unspoken assumption was that the Ice Roc, who was among the stronger beasts, killed him.

But that conclusion proved painfully premature.

Cain soared downward, plunging the spear squarely into the bird’s massive chest, blasting it into the craggy ground below.

The Ice Roc’s vitality was overwhelming and could endure a lot of damage, but the spear was simply too powerful, and a final cry echoed across the makeshift battlefield before it collapsed, lifeless.
