A red light suddenly flooded the sky above Gu City, casting an eerie glow over the ancient stone walls.

Yet despite his youthful appearance, the power he exuded was so imnse that it was akin to standing in the presence of a cosmos.

The boy-like figure spoke no words. Instead, in a flash of movent, he vanished and reappeared at the periphery of the colossal city, arriving there in less than a millisecond. His golden eyes flared, and the Laws of the Universe raged around him, swirling like an uncontrollable storm.

His focus imdiately locked onto the source of the detection—a middle-aged man with short black hair dressed in the robes of a Divine Ascension Master from one of the many Holy Tier Organizations under the Gu Sect’s banner. On the surface, this man bore no resemblance to Cain Laurifer, yet the scanning formations had detected Cain’s soul aura, bloodline, and life force within him.

A disguise.

At that mont, every important individual within the city turned their focus toward the southern entrance, none daring to blink. They all knew—if a Prima Deity made a move against a Soul Realm Master, the outco was usually predictable.

But this was Cain Laurifer.

Even if his disguise had been compromised, he was still not soone to be trifled with.

Then, like a falling star, he flashed into the distance, vanishing at a speed beyond comprehension.

That single thought rippled through the minds of everyone present.

And in the next instant, they understood what had happened.

Cain had used the middle-aged man as bait, a test subject to gauge the capabilities of Gu City’s defenses. What he had discovered was that they were far too powerful, even for him. And so, rather than risk a direct confrontation, he had chosen to retreat.

The child-like Prima Deity could have given chase, and under normal circumstances, he would have. But just as he was about to move, he froze.

A mory surfaced in his mind—the dismbered body of Marlin.

That hesitation was enough.

He watched, teeth clenched, as Cain’s vanishing figure disappeared over the horizon. In the end, he did nothing. He rely sneered, turned away, and returned to his station above the formation leading to the Gu World.
