Book 7 - A hero in a foreign land

"BOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!"
A massive blast echoed as another wave crashed down, shattering everything in their path with overwhelming power. They were so massive that it was hard to describe, but their power was devastating and spread everywhere.
Several coastal cities were close to the Endless Ocean, but now every single one was gone under the might of those hundreds of thousands of ters tall waves.
Luckily, people had already begun to evacuate as they saw the ocean pulling back, and they all assembled in the largest city with the greatest defenses near their location, known as Ocean Gem City.
There was a man on top of the Ocean Gem City's walls. He was very similar to a human except for the golden lizard-like scales covering his arms and part of his chest. Of course, the man was a mber of the Deus Behemoth Race nad Sandwell.
Sandwell could not believe the level of destruction that he just witnessed. Many people had escaped the tsunami, and his city was now overflowing with survivors, but the man could not help but clench his fists as he thought of all those who perished.
"BOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM!"
Another wave crashed on the broken cities, and right now, no single vertical structure is still standing around the coast. The level of destruction was simply overwhelming.
Luckily, it seed that was the last one, and Sandwell noticed how the storm began to calm down. While the dark clouds still covered the sky, there were no longer lightning arcs with the power of small nuclear weapons falling from the heavens.
However, just as Sandwell thought things would finally return to peace, he heard it.
"RATTLE!"
Sandwell heard the sound of steps coming from the distance, and it did not take long for him to see what could only be described as an endless horde of Wave Beasts erging from the ocean and marching toward them!
Usually, just the aura of a Wave King would be enough to deter weak Wave Beasts, but those erging from the raging ocean seed in a state of frenzy.
"Raise the alarm! Soldiers to your positions! Everybody get ready!"
Sandwell had not obtained his status as a City Lord by luck and imdiately reacted as he saw the horde, using commands to all soldiers while triggering the city's defenses.
It did not take long for an alarm to echo across the city, with all the civilians getting into bunkers and the soldiers marching forward, ready to defend the walls. A force field erged from a tower at the center of the city. Enjoy new stories from My Virtual Library Empire
Sandwell's eyes, sharp and discerning, scanned the advancing horde of Wave Beasts. Although a significant percentage of the Wave Beasts did not reach the Wave Champion Rank, their numbers could be counted in the hundreds of thousands, with more and more erging from the ocean.
Decisiveness appeared in the Deus Behemoth as he took his weapon from his space ring, a massive trident covered in lightning arcs.
Although Sandwell could easily send strikes that could kill thousands of those Wave Beasts, he would exhaust himself if he used his energy without control. Then, there would be no one capable of facing the strongest creatures in the hoarder's rear.
"Form ranks!" The Deus Behemoth bellowed, his voice cutting through the panic and confusion. The seasoned and well-trained soldiers snapped into formation, creating a defensive line that spanned the width of the city walls.
Essence Cultivators took their positions, charging their spells, their eyes steely with determination. In contrast, Astral Cultivators took different types of spears that seed to glow with chaotic energy, ready to explode at any second.
"Attack!"
As soon as the soldiers heard the command, all the Essence Wave Cultivators unleashed their spells. At the sa ti, the Astral Cultivators charged the spears with energy, increasing their explosive power before throwing them into the distance.
"¡Boom!" "¡Boom!" "¡Boom!" "¡Boom!"
Hundreds of explosions covered the Wave Beast horde, killing dozens of thousands of them, but their numbers were so massive that it seed to barely make a dent. The Wave Beasts at the back trampled over the corpses of their kind and continued toward the city.
¡Again!"
Sandwell shouted, making another barrage of spells and explosive spears land on the horde, killing the ones closest to the city, but they kept advancing. And that was not the only problem since the energy pool of those Essence Cultivators was diminishing at a startling rate.
In less than five minutes, Sandwell's soldiers had already killed nearly a million Wave Beasts, but they kept marching and nearing the city wall.
Sandwell knew he could use the city walls and force field to help him face the horde, but that would put the civilians in danger, which he could not allow.
"Wave Warriors, remain inside the force field and make sure the beasts do not cross into the city. Everybody with battle power at the Wave Champion level and above, follow . We will march forward and enter a lee battle!"
Although there was imnse danger in marching toward the horde, it was the only way to diminish its numbers and handle the more serious threats so the force field could endure and people would be safe. The soldiers with Wave Champion battle power and above readied their artifacts, their faces set in grim determination.
Sandwell leaped from the city wall into the horde like a teor, landing among a pack full of Wave Champion beasts and busting them to pieces before waving his trident. The strength behind his weapon was so imnse that it cut through everything, unleashing arcs of lightning that burned thousands of beasts.
The Wave Champion soldiers also crashed into the horde in small squads, executing flawless teamwork as they shattered Wave Beasts to pieces, targeting the strongest ones.
The combined slaughter perford by Sandwell and the Wave Champions reduced the might of the horde to the point that those nearing the city walls were quickly taken care of by the Wave Warriors, allowing the protection of the civilians.
Sandwell fought at the forefront, his trident a blur of motion as every move killed dozens of Wave Champion Beasts, and arcs of lightning spread everywhere, scorching hundreds of Wave Beasts. His body and armor were so strong that none of the beasts could surpass his Astral Wave Cloak and harm him, but no matter how many he killed, more kept coming.
"ROAR!"
