At first, Cain thought their only purpose was to stop him from running, but with the speed of the fire bolts, there was no need for that. Now that he focused on them, he detected sothing.

All the flas that had presented themselves up to this mont had so sort of intent granted by the Fire Tribulation, but the ones erging from the fire's veins were clean, empty of any will or direction.
