Beatrice placed her purse on the table, her eyes following Andrew’s every single action.

"Why are you standing? Sit," Andrew said to her as he made his way towards the table to get the files that he needed to urgently look over since his father was returning from abroad after he heard about Sean’s demise.

Naturally, he would like an update on how everything is running. It was better that he completed the proposal to present to him before bidding on the final day.

"Who do you think killed Sean?" Beatrice asked after a drawn-out silence.

Andrew, holding the pen, paused.

"I don’t know. Can’t waste my ti thinking about that either," he dismissed it.

Beatrice licked her lip thoughtfully.

"Do you think Trevor knows sothing? Though the guy usually stays out of trouble, he was a bit strange today. He even brought his sister to the ceremony, whom he had never brought before us. And that expression... His sister acted weird," Beatrice said, thinking about everything.

When Andrew didn’t make any remark, she cleared her throat.

"So tomorrow the final proceedings of the divorce will take place. Has Elara contacted you? To tell you she made a mistake and that she was just trying to catch your attention—"

Andrew placed the pen on the table loudly, making Beatrice stop talking.

He looked up before sighing.

"She wasn’t acting. I just could never understand her value," Andrew said with a solemn face.

Beatrice quickly stood from the sofa and walked to the table, placing her hand over the man’s.

"Hey, don’t bla yourself. We all got used to her tantrums and jealous stunts. Maybe it’s for good. After all, your family never liked it. Only your grandfather wanted her there even after knowing you liked and—" Beatrice stopped ticulously.

She took a deep, shaky breath before walking around the table until she was standing right beside him.

"I know you still bla for running away abroad when your grandfather threatened without even telling you anything, but... trust , I thought it was for your betternt. Only after I left did I realize how much you an to ." Beatrice cupped Andrew’s face, looking into his eyes deeply.

"Don’t lie and say you don’t feel anything for ," Beatrice said as she kept leaning forward.

When she noticed the man wasn’t rejecting her advances, she sat on his lap and was about to try another bold move by placing her lips on his when the door of the office opened, making Andrew jerk out of his trance and push her away.

Beatrice fell to the side, making Andrew widen his eyes.

"I am sorry. It startled . I didn’t an to—" Andrew didn’t know what more to say.

Beatrice smiled bitterly before taking his hand and standing with a bitter smile.

"It’s okay. It’s not your fault," she murmured, patting her dress.

She turned to the door where Jason was standing, a little awkwardly.

"Should I co later?" He asked, deliberately lingering.

Andrew ruffled his hair before shaking his head.

"Beatrice was leaving already. Co in," Andrew said, his words clearly indicating what he wanted.

Beatrice cleared her throat.

"Yeah, I have a eting about the new schedule with the manager," she said, still maintaining her dignity before she glared at Jason and left.

Jason looked at the girl, feigning confusion as if he didn’t know what exactly he did, before shrugging.

"I don’t think Beatrice really likes . She looks at like she would murder anyti," Jason exaggerated, and Andrew sighed.

"Co on, that’s a really harsh thing to say. Does she look like soone who can kill anyone?" Andrew asked.

Jason chuckled at his words, wondering if the man was curious for real or just joking.

"In my opinion, yes. Anyways, the client called, and they wanted the eting to be scheduled for the evening," Jason said, and Andrew humd as they got back to work.

"This reminds , sir. Miss Elara’s bodyguard sent a ssage about timings and a reminder not to forget to be available for the further proceedings," Jason added.

Andrew nodded without looking up before stopping when he felt Jason’s gaze on him.

"Is there anything else you want to say?" He asked.

Jason nodded.

"I am not exactly sure, but your mother has been trying to look into Miss Elara’s background. She has been going through records," Jason said.

Andrew squinted his brows. Looking into Elara’s background? Why now? Did sothing happen?

"And did she find anything?" He asked, unsure what this was about.

"Nothing so far. And honestly, I find it a little strange," he said.

"Strange?" Andrew asked.

Jason bobbed his head up and down.

"Don’t you think it’s strange that there is little to no information on Miss Elara’s background, her upbringing, and early life before marriage anywhere? For a simple girl like her, it sounds unrealistic. Not to ntion how she always seems to be surrounded by influential people after leaving you," Jason said.

Andrew looked into the distance and humd.

It was sothing he had thought about, too, but later dismissed it because every connection she showed had a story, didn’t it?

But now that Jason ntioned it again, it was indeed strange.

Beatrice, who walked out of the office, looked at the closed door with clenched fists.

Andrew hadn’t rejected her advances this ti. It was already a significant leap from before. Once the divorce is dealt with, things will definitely beco easier.

You just wait and watch, Andrew. I’ll make you mine. And if soone tries to co between us, I’ll ensure they don’t get to live another day. Beatrice smiled, her eyes sharp.

Elara was rely lucky because she was dumb, and she didn’t have to fight for the man’s attention and care ever. And just like she threw Elara away, she was ready to throw away every other obstacle.

Like she threw Sean away, too.

Beatrice smiled aningfully as she boarded the elevator, her nacing smile reflecting on the steel doors.

The poor guy didn’t know what kind of mistake he made by contacting her.
