To be fair, his initial capital had only been five hundred gold coins.
"As for the cart of miscellaneous items, it’s nothing particularly valuable. Just spare clothes, daily necessities, and things like that. Perhaps we can sell them at the market?" Kaor said as he handed over the inventory sheet. The quantities of every piece of loot were ticulously listed using the statistical thods Phield had taught him.
"Let’s do that."
Phield nodded in satisfaction.
"Send the plate armor and weapons to the armory. We can expand the heavy cavalry by another thirty n."
"My lord, we’re expanding the army again?" Kaor’s face imdiately fell. He wasn’t responsible for military affairs, but an increase in troop numbers would place greater pressure on the territory’s finances and food reserves. "Are you planning to grant knighthoods?"
"Of course not."
Granting knighthoods?
He barely owned any land himself. There was no way he was going to hand territory over to soone else. Not in this lifeti.
"Your wisdom is truly admirable. I’ll take my leave now."
Kaor let out a sigh of relief and departed from the city hall.
Only after noticing that Phield had finished his work did Tisiana wander over. Like a spoiled kitten seeking attention, she clung to him and searched for sothing to talk about.
"My lord, are we going to inspect the territory later? I’ll accompany you."
"Not yet. I still need to deal with the supplies and the prisoners. Annie Rui is a troubleso case. I can’t kill him recklessly, but I can’t release him either."
"Forget that. Let’s settle the weapon allocations first."
After so thought, Phield said,
"Select twenty n from the guards and another twenty from the First Army for cavalry training. From those forty, choose thirty to join the heavy cavalry. The vacancies in the guard force will be filled by outstanding soldiers from the First Army."
"In addition, recruit wolfkin from the First Army and add them to the raider cavalry. Increase the raider cavalry’s size to fifty n as well."
Nightfall Domain had no shortage of warhorses. Now that they possessed high-quality plate armor and weapons, it was the perfect ti to expand their cavalry forces.
"What about the infantry of the First Army? Should we recruit more?"
"No."
Phield shook his head.
"Ophelia’s undead legion already serves as our infantry. As for living troops, we should focus on quality and mobility from now on. Large-scale cavalry forces are much better at expanding battlefield gains."
When he had first encountered military affairs, Phield had looked down on cavalry, believing they were nothing more than targets for firearms.
But after leading troops in battle for so long, he had co to deeply understand the terrifying value of mobility.
The fact that cavalry were exceptionally efficient at raiding alone made them worth training.
"Besides that, assign one stone golem to each outpost. Distribute five First-Tier staffs to each as well. We can’t produce mana cores ourselves, so we need to use them sparingly."
Back then, he had not thought much of mana cores. Now he realized he had stockpiled far too few. Virtually every piece of advanced magical technology required them.
With a few quick strokes of his pen, Phield finalized the military arrangents and stamped the docunts with his seal.
"Done."
He sealed the signed papers with wax and leaned back comfortably.
"Let’s go see Annie Rui. He’s a goose that lays golden eggs. If we want to get rich, the key might just be him."
"Oh?"
Tisiana blinked in confusion. Her holy eyes sparkled with curiosity as she wrapped herself around his arm.
"Explain it to . You can’t keep secrets from your Divine Chosen."
"It’s simple."
Phield smiled.
"As a native border noble, he’s extrely familiar with the territories throughout Rick Province. That makes him a perfect guide."
"And more importantly, he has a blood feud with the Shadow World Sect."
"You an we’re going to actively move against the Shadow World Sect?"
Tisiana was shocked.
"I want to eliminate those murder-crazed lunatics too, but they’re much stronger than we are."
Until now, they had treated the rebels like dangerous predators and constantly guarded against them. Now Phield wanted to provoke them directly. It seed contradictory.
"Offense is the best defense."
Phield smiled faintly.
"We need to uncover their secrets and weaken them proactively. Hiding behind walls has never been my style."
"I intended to take the initiative from the very beginning. Otherwise, I would have stationed Ophelia near Starnight City and nowhere else."
"Our territory needs resources."
"Even if those resources belong to ruthless bandits or corrupted creatures."
A cruel smile appeared on his face.
"But who says you can’t raid bandits?"
"Then we’ll need to plan carefully."
Tisiana nervously fiddled with her skirt before brightening.
"If we can strike at evil forces and gain resources at the sa ti, that’s wonderful. I’ll do everything I can to help."
Before the two of them could leave the room, they heard a soft clearing of the throat behind them.
A woman with pale golden hair sat atop Phield’s desk, one long leg crossed over the other. Dressed in a black noblewoman’s gown, Rosalia looked both aloof and mischievous.
"Phield, this young lady has returned from clearing undead. I also brought news from Violet."
"You’ve worked hard."
"Naturally."
Rosalia accepted the praise without hesitation and imdiately pushed for more.
"My feet are sweaty from all the walking. Please clean them for tonight. Personally."
"Ridiculous. Don’t corrupt the little angel."
Phield wiped away cold sweat.
"Though... she might already be corrupted enough."
Beside him, Tisiana wore an expression as though an entirely new world had opened before her eyes.
Strictly speaking, Tisiana was probably the third most outrageous person in the territory.
The truly tragic part was that Rosalia and Ophelia were both corrupted creatures, so their bizarre remarks were at least sowhat understandable.
"This is my blessing upon you."
Rosalia tilted her head slightly, exuding the aura of a queen.
"A cat enjoys licking its paws. Phield, I think you’d enjoy it too."
Her slender, snow-white neck displayed a flawless curve.
"What kind of absurd logic is that? Cats are cats. Humans are humans."
Phield paused.
"Though... now that I think about it, it doesn’t sound entirely terrible..."
He coughed awkwardly.
"I feel like you’re corrupting ."
"Hehe."
Rosalia placed her hands on her hips proudly.
"I rember another famous beauty of the North. When she was alive, she was far more outrageous than I am now. Unfortunately, she also died during the catastrophe."
"There’s actually soone more outrageous than you?"
"Frenita."
Rosalia tilted her head.
"The noble lady known as the Golden Persian Cat, fad throughout the North for her seductive charm. Rumor says she was also one of the Golden Lion’s favorite playthings."
"Her looks and figure were about on par with mine, but her thods of dealing with n were terrifying. A single toe from her could make countless n fall to their knees."
As a noble himself, Phield had naturally heard the rumors about the beauties of the North.
Before the Corruption Catastrophe descended, three of the Empire’s ten greatest beauties had co from the North: the Golden Lion’s Pearl, the Goddess of Beauty’s Persian Cat, and the Star of the Nightfall.
"What does that have to do with being outrageous?" Phield asked honestly.
"Every day when she cared for her feet, she used a little boy’s..."
"Stop. Stop right there."
Cold sweat stread down Phield’s back.
He looked monts away from covering her mouth himself.
"Don’t say things that damage group unity."
With a helpless sigh, he muttered,
"This really is a degenerate world."
"Back to business."
Rembering Violet’s report, Phield imdiately regained a serious expression.
"This is about the undead entering Bull Territory, isn’t it?"
