Now reading: Chapter 361: Hyades (2) from The Extra Can't be A Hero, a Romance novel by Yunniye_Snow.

Hyades finally reached for the power of Heaven itself.

For the first time since descending into the mortal realm, the Goddess abandoned restraint. The moment she possessed Ellahan’s body, her authority had been crippled.

Heaven and Earth were separated by her will.

As the bearer of the Mandate of Heaven, Hyades herself acted as the barrier separating the divine realm from the mortal dimension. She was the dam restraining the endless ocean of divinity above from flooding the world below.

That was why she descended in a weakened state.

That was why she couldn’t unleash her full power.

The mortal realm simply could not withstand it.

But now?

Now Leon and Yue had cornered her.

For the first time in millions of years, Hyades felt desperation clawing at her heart.

And so... She made the one choice she had sworn never to make.

She dragged Heaven closer to Earth.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!!! The skies split apart.

A deafening roar echoed across the planet as colossal gates of emerald light materialised above the atmosphere. Ancient doors, engraved with divine scriptures, slowly creaked open, revealing glimpses of the heavenly realm beyond mortal sight.

Then the roots descended.

Vast verdant roots thicker than mountain ranges erupted from the gates of Heaven like the limbs of a primordial world tree. They tore through the atmosphere and crashed violently into Solfea’s surface, pulverising cities, splitting oceans, and triggering earthquakes that rippled throughout the entire planet.

Mountains collapsed. Tidal waves swallowed coastlines. Storms consumed the skies. Every living being felt it.

The children hiding within Solaris House froze in terror as the walls trembled around them. The Demons of Urath instinctively fell to their knees beneath the overwhelming pressure.

Across the world, billions watched the livestream in horrified silence as the heavens themselves descended upon the mortal realm.

Even ordinary humans with no spiritual sensitivity felt their souls screaming.

Hyades was enraged.

Truly enraged.

And if destroying the world was what it took to preserve her throne... Then she would destroy it without hesitation.

KRAAAAAAAK!!!

Golden lightning split the skies apart while continent-sized tornadoes spiralled across the horizon.

Rivers of divine energy poured endlessly from Heaven’s gates, flooding the mortal realm with power that should never have existed there. And as that divine power surged... Hyades began to change.

Ellahan’s appearance slowly melted away. Her flesh dissolved into flowing particles of emerald light while halos of sacred radiance bloomed behind her back, one after another. Her body became translucent, almost unreal, as if she no longer existed as a living creature but as a concept given form.

Something higher. Something untouchable. Something that mortal minds were never meant to perceive.

Countless humans screamed as their eyes began to bleed merely from looking at her through the broadcast.

Some fainted instantly.

Others collapsed in agony as their souls burned beneath the pressure of true divinity.

The weaker ones couldn’t even prehend what they were seeing. Their minds instinctively rejected her existence.

Yet Leon and Yue endured.

Because they too possessed divinity.

And thus... For the first time... They saw Hyades’ true face.

Not the face of a celestial empress.

Not the visage of an omnipotent Goddess.

Just... A woman.

An ordinary-looking woman.

She did not possess Yue’s breathtaking beauty that could captivate nations. Neither was she grotesque or monstrous like a demon’s corrupted form.

Her features were simple.

Gentle. Unassuming. The kind of face one could easily overlook in a crowd.

A girl-next-door.

And somehow... That made her even more terrifying.

Because, despite her ordinary appearance, the divinity radiating from her eclipsed the world itself.

The open gates of Heaven loomed behind her like the end of creation, and for the first time, everyone finally understood why Hyades had ruled uncontested for millions of years.

This was the being who sat above the Titans. Above Dragons. Above Demon Sovereigns.

Above all existence.

Just by breathing... The laws of reality bent around her.

The atmosphere distorted with every movement she made.

Gravity shattered.

Time itself slowed beneath the pressure of her authority.

Leon’s knees buckled. Yue’s breathing turned ragged. Neither of them could even raise their heads fully. Not because they lacked courage... But because their instincts screamed at them to kneel before the ruler of Heaven.

Hyades had finally reached the peak of her power.

Unfortunately for her... That was also the greatest mistake she could have made.

Yue’s crimson eyes suddenly widened.

Then... she smiled.

"Finally..." Yue whispered, her voice trembling with excitement. "The path to Heaven is open."

For countless millennia, no new Gods had been born. Not because the world lacked worthy individuals. But because Hyades had sealed Heaven itself. She monopolised the Mandate of Heaven, preventing anyone else from ascending.

Every pathway toward divinity had been locked shut beneath her authority.

But now?

In her desperation, Hyades had opened the gates herself.

And Yue... Had been waiting for this moment.

The Mysterious Grimoire appeared before her. Its ancient pages flipped wildly as countless timelines, memories, and possibilities surged through the artefact. Then the book began to disintegrate, its paper turning into particles of light before condensing into a single crystal fragment overflowing with divine authority.

SHIIIIIIIIING!!!

The fragment erupted into a pillar of radiant light that pierced directly into Heaven’s gates.

And then...

CRAAAAAAACK!!!

The gates split open even wider. At that instant, clarity finally struck Hyades. Her pupils shrank.

Realization. Horror. Panic.

In her rage... She had done the one thing she absolutely should never have done.

"No...!"

For the first time in existence, genuine fear appeared on the Goddess’s face. Hyades frantically raised her hands, attempting to force Heaven’s gates shut once more.

But it was already too late.

The seal separating Heaven and Earth had broken.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The clouds exploded apart as a colossal vortex of divine light descended from the heavens. Golden radiance flooded the atmosphere while rivers of celestial energy poured endlessly into the mortal world. The entire dimension trembled violently. Evolution had begun.

And finally... For the first time in millions of years...

Heaven and Earth connected as one.

"Y-you! Do you have any idea what you have done?!"

Hyades was genuinely appalled. Unbefitting of the Goddess who ruled over everyone, she yelled at Yue, who only smiled back after spitting a mouthful of blood.

"Yes," Yue relished in Hyades’s fear and chortled. "I have destroyed your monopoly."

"You insolent! Y-You!"

Hyades was about to curse the fledgling Spirit Goddess, but she opted to save her breath. Ultimately, there was no need to explain anything to the human following the Will of Heaven, who was firmly against her.

No, from the beginning, her approach was all wrong.

Hyades had all the power in the world.

She shouldn’t have held back, worrying about the balance of the world.

If the world were against her... then, she would destroy the world.

"Yes... I can restore everything from scratch... I don’t have to deal with this anymore."

Having been cornered into desperation, Hyades finally abandoned all restraint.

The fragile balance maintaining the world’s stability no longer mattered to her.

If the world shattered... Then so be it.

If billions perished... Then they deserved it for daring to oppose their Goddess.

At that point, Hyades had only one thought left in her mind.

Erase everything.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The open gates of Heaven thundered as torrents of divine authority poured into Hyades’s body. Veins of emerald-gold light spread across her skin while holy power surged endlessly through her like a collapsing star.

The very air around her distorted beneath the density of divinity she manded.

Then... a domain descended.

The world darkened instantly. An enormous emerald canopy spread across the skies, blotting out the sun itself. Roots thicker than castles intertwined through the atmosphere while countless glowing vines spiralled downward like divine serpents descending from Heaven.

This was no mere spell.

This was Hyades exercising the Mandate of Heaven itself.

Absolute authority over life. Over evolution. Over creation.

The battlefield changed instantly. The members of the Holy Church—the faithful who had willingly surrendered themselves to Hyades and bee angels within her divine choir—began to scream.

Both in pain and ecstasy.

Their bodies twisted violently as holy hymns echoed from their throats. Wings ruptured apart into forests of glowing leaves while roots burst from their flesh.

Bones stretched. Skin split. Vines coiled around their bodies like armour forged from nature itself.

One after another, the angels transformed into monstrous divine treants. Gigantic humanoid entities posed of bark, roots, and holy light. Their hollow eyes glowed emerald. Their veins pulsed with divine energy. Every movement radiated enough power to crush armies.

A single treant angel tore through dozens of Solaris Knights with overwhelming force, uprooting entire fortresses with casual swings of its limbs.

Others descended upon the battlefield like calamities incarnate, slaughtering demons and humans alike without distinction.

Nothing escaped Hyades’s wrath.

Demons were impaled upon forests of divine thorns. Humans were assimilated into writhing masses of roots. Even the land itself was being rewritten as mountains cracked open and oceans turned emerald beneath the spread of Heaven’s authority.

The planet itself was being terraformed.

Hyades intended to uproot the entire world and rebuild it according to her will alone.

Yet amidst all the destruction... Her attention remained fixed on a single person.

Yue Elune.

The variable. The outlier. The girl who had ruined the peace to her dimension.

The thorn lodged deepest within Hyades’s flesh.

Of everyone standing against her... Yue was the one she hated most.

"Die, you mongrel."

Hyades’s cold voice echoed across the heavens as she slowly moved her fingers like a conductor leading a grand orchestra. In response, millions of roots erupted from the skies simultaneously. The world vanished beneath an endless storm of divine vines.

Yue gritted her teeth.

Crimson flames erupted around her as she incinerated thousands of roots at once. Her spirits screamed into battle beside her, unleashing storms, lightning, and infernos to hold back the relentless onslaught. But it wasn’t enough.

The roots kept ing.

Endlessly.

Every vine destroyed spawned ten more in its place.

Yue summoned Monarch-tier spirits as living shields while desperately retreating through the collapsing battlefield. Leon repeatedly intercepted attacks with Ascalon, carving apart divine roots with arcs of golden light.

Yet even Leon was being overwhelmed.

Hyades had opened Heaven itself. Within her domain, her power bordered on omnipotence.

KRAAAAAK!!!

A massive root shattered through Leon’s defence and sent him crashing into the earth. Before Yue could react, dozens more erupted around her like spears descending from the heavens. Her pupils shrank.

Too fast. She couldn’t evade. A colossal root surged directly toward her chest, carrying enough force to erase her existence entirely...

BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

Black light exploded across the battlefield.

The ining roots were instantly sliced apart.

A slash so absolute that even space itself split open momentarily.

The battlefield froze.

Then, a lone figure stepped forward amidst the scattering fragments of divine roots.

Behind him, the moon and sun illuminated the ruined skies simultaneously, casting his silhouette in silver and gold. A black blade rested casually in his hand.

Yue blinked once. Then smiled.

The exhaustion and tension within her eyes finally loosened.

"What took you so long?"

The man scratched his cheek awkwardly before lowering his weapon.

"Sorry," Amon said softly. "I’m late."

His voice wasn’t loud.

Yet somehow, it reached everyone across the battlefield.

Humans. Demons. Angels.

Even Hyades herself.

Amon slowly lifted his gaze. He saw the crumbling Demon Empire engulfed in divine roots. He saw Leon struggling to stand beneath the pressure of Heaven. He saw the transformed angels ravaging the battlefield.

And finally... He looked toward the open gateway to Heaven looming above the skies.

For a brief moment, silence overtook the battlefield.

Then Amon tightened his grip around his black blade. Determination blazed within his eyes.

No hesitation remained. No uncertainty. Only resolve.

He took a single step forward and declared.

"Time to end this war."
