Now reading: Chapter 276: The Married Couple (4) from The Extra Can't be A Hero, a Action novel by YunniyeSnow.

Yval becoming Yue’s personal spirit wasn’t sothing that ca out of the blue. The pair had discussed it extensively the mont they t for the first ti over a decade ago.

Yue was aware of the Herald’s abilities, and she knew that despite Yval’s power, it was nigh impossible for her to prevent the resurrection of the Titans. Yes, the Golden Dragon Progentior was powerful, but ultimately, she was just a ghost from the past.

Unlike the Herald, who could regenerate endlessly, Yval’s soul would dissipate eventually. If they fought, perhaps Yval would have won the imdiate battle... but the Herald would win the war.

Eventually, the Herald would gain control over the Necropolis, and the Titans would inevitably return.

Thus, to prevent that future from coming to fruition, Yue devised a plan.

What made the Titans immortal? Why didn’t they die despite losing the war? Why did the Dragons choose to seal the remaining Titans and not kill them?

The answer was simple.

Their divinity.

Their existence was tied to the planet’s fate, so killing them outright would have significantly damaged the world. As long as their divinity existed within them, they couldn’t be killed.

So... why not rip them of their divinity?

Over the past decade, Yue and Yval had siphoned away the Titan’s divinities and stored them into a suitable core that could house Yval’s soul. At the sa ti, they isolated the Titans’ souls from the planet, essentially weakening them by severing their connection. So now, even if the Titans were killed, their deaths wouldn’t affect the Earth.

And finally, the cherry on top of it all.

The cores of the Titans... were shells used to trap their remaining divinities.

If the Herald unseals and awakens them, they would beco vessels to gestate their own divine power into a single core.

A core... that could be robbed and transferred.

It was the sa system as how Aluria, Leon’s mother, inherited Thalassa’s divinity. In the sa way that Thalassa robbed the previous Ocean Titan’s divinity.

If divinities could be transferred, that would be their trump card in defeating the Titans.

And that was how Yue managed to convince the Sword Saint to turn against the Demon Cult and join their side.

The Sword Saint yearned to be immortal... and Yue could provide.

If her plan worked, not only would the Titans be hopelessly defeated without understanding why, but they would be able to create a new pantheon of divines, all of whom would be loyal to Amon and her.

A win-win situation for all.

"Sister Yval, there’s no need for you to lower your head. Even after you beco my spirit, you will still be my sister first."

"This one is grateful for your deference."

Yval raised her head with a warm smile. Although becoming Yue’s exclusive spirit ant that she would essentially be her servant, Yue didn’t see it that way. She saw Yval as a partner, nay, a family mber that she would never mistreat.

After all, during her previous lifeti, Yval played a pivotal role in their fight against the Demon Invasion.

Alas, no matter how mighty she was... the Titans and the Demons took Yval’s life in the end.

However, this ti... it was going to be different.

"Sister Yval, relax and follow my lead."

Wasting no ti, Yue channelled mana into the back of her hand, letting it rush through her veins until it gathered at her fingertips.

Threads of shimring light unfurled from her hand—thin at first, like gossar strands—before weaving themselves into a single, deliberate tendril. It stretched forward and touched the blonde woman’s forehead with a soft, resonant hum.

The effect was instantaneous.

Yval’s human guise broke apart like golden dust caught in a storm. Light poured out of her, radiating in blinding waves as her true form took shape.

A colossal Golden Dragon unfurled before Yue, scales gleaming like sunlit tal, wings stretching wide enough to cast shadows over the entire chamber. Her re presence bent the air itself; any ordinary person would have fallen to their knees, breath stolen by the weight of her existence.

But Yue stood unmoved.

With steady resolve, she deepened the connection.

The tendril of mana expanded, becoming a binding thread etched with runic symbols, each one pulsing in harmony with Yue’s heartbeat. She was not forming a pact of dominance, nor the typical summoner–spirit hierarchy.

Instead, she forged a contract of equals—a sacred, dangerous ritual. Such a contract tore into the summoner’s body, consuming vitality and mana alike.

Yet Yue welcod the pain, for Yval was no ordinary entity.

She wasn’t a spirit by nature; she had been a ghost, a remnant soul chained to the Necropolis of the Gods. Only through Yue’s obsessive research and relentless experintation had she discovered the impossible: a thod to elevate a ghost into a genuine spirit.

The process was deceptively simple in theory, but almost impossible to perform in reality... the change Yval from a remnant ghost into a divine being... a new god.

Yue perford it flawlessly.

Yval’s tamorphosis was nothing short of divine.

The remnants of her forr self—grief, regret, the lingering shackles of death—burned away in a cascade of golden radiance.

What erged was not just the Golden Dragon Progenitor of ancient legend. She was reborn as sothing greater, sothing sacred.

The Dragon Goddess.

The first—and only—mber of the new pantheon crafted by Yue’s own hands.

Yval wasn’t like Aluria, the incomplete Ocean Goddess who inherited the remaining pieces of Thalassa’s divinity.

Yval was a genuine new goddess. One that was critical in Yue’s ultimate plan.

The divinities once devoured by the Titans surged through Yval’s soul, reshaping her in ways that defied mortal understanding. Her spirit expanded until it felt as though it could blanket the sky itself. Her mana flowed seamlessly into the world around her, rging with wind, earth, and light; in actual battle, she would be unstoppable.

As she stood now, Yval could easily overpower Amon... or even the Solaris Saint, whose strength was once heralded as unmatched.

And that overwhelming force... this newly ascended Dragon Goddess...was now Yue’s Guardian Spirit.

Despite being at a size where a single breath would cause hurricanes, Yval was showing astonishing restraint. She compressed her body into a golden light, and the draconic body that could have swallowed the sky was being condensed into a single ball of light.

The golden light descended before Yue, unfurling like a divine veil. From within it, a figure erged—graceful, radiant, and breathtakingly beautiful, like a butterfly breaking free from its cocoon.

When the brilliance finally settled, an ethereal woman stood before her.

Her blonde hair shimred like molten gold, cascading down her back in silken waves. Her eyes, the sa luminous hue, glowed with an ancient depth—eyes that seed to peer straight through the world and lay bare all its truths. Her skin was flawless, untouched by ti or impurity, as though not even the faintest blemish of mortality dared to touch her.

She was wreathed in drifting golden clouds, each one swirling around her like celestial attendants, making her divinity unmistakable. Her presence radiated a mature, commanding grace—an aura befitting not rely an empress, but a tyrant who regarded all forms of life as inherently beneath her.

The very air trembled around her. When she shifted even slightly, the space and ti surrounding her rippled in response, bowing to her existence as though acknowledging their superior.

And to think... this overwhelming being, this monster of divinity, was now rely Yue’s guardian spirit.

"Yue... This one thanks thee for giving this one a new lease of life."

"Hah, sister Yval. One more ti and I’ll actually get angry."

Yue laughed it off while bringing Yval into her embrace.

"How do you feel? Anything off with your new divine body?"

"Nothing, in fact... this one feels more powerful than this one’s pri!"

A stunning statent, especially if anyone knew how powerful the Golden Dragon Progenitor was. Yval was a being who fought the Titans without any divine power and won! Now that she had ascended to beco the Dragon Goddess... it was no exaggeration to say that she was one of the most powerful existences to ever live in Hyades.

Well... second only to one being.

"Good, then let’s get you comfortable in this realm. Use your powers to your heart’s content and familiarise yourself with the new divinity. Also, because you’ve ascended... I can’t bring you out to the real world for now."

Yue’s ruby eyes turned apologetic.

There was a reason why Yue brought Yval into this hidden dinsion to conduct her ascension. While Yval now possessed more power than any other being on the planet, she was going to be caged within this realm for the foreseeable future.

She won’t leave to fight against the Titans.

And neither would she co out to face the Demons.

Yval, the newly ascended Dragon Goddess, was Yue’s trump card against a far greater foe.

An enemy that she had never told Amon.

The Seventh Calamity.

"This one understands. For your plan to succeed, this one can bear with hiding in this dinsion."

"I’m sorry... If sister Yval appears in the real world... there’s no way she wouldn’t notice."

Yue sighed while her ruby eyes glared at the fluctuating portal that led her out of this dinsion and into the real one. Within here, she was the sovereign. No being could peer into her realm and investigate what she was doing.

However, the mont she set foot in the real world, an unsettling, omnipresent gaze would be directed at her.

The omnipresent gaze that only one entity in the entire realm could possess.

"The Goddess Hyades. We have to start our preparations against her."
