Everbright Academy, First Year’s Dormitory.
Inside his room, Cael rolled on his bed.
Yesterday was too much for him.
And today was officially his first academic day.
But did Cael care? No. He just wanted more sleep.
Sadly, he couldn’t skip today’s class, unlike yesterday’s Introduction class.
Not to ntion, Cael didn’t even know his classroom.
"Ugh, so annoying."
Should he just send his wind clone to attend the class?
Cael shook his head. He had already blown up his SSS class reveal, and he didn’t want to expose his skills as well.
’I need to find new skills... or just create two SS skills that can act as my public abilities. After all, every SSS class holder has one or two SS skills. As for SSS skills, those are rare even among SSS class holders.’
’That way, my three major skills won’t be exposed.’
And to create SS skills, he needed to study others’ skills and copy those that seed useful.
Since skills were related to class nas one way or another, he had to find ones that matched his class description.
He opened the description of his SSS class.
...
Iridescent Monarch
Rank: SSS
Description:
A class that represents power without a single shape. This class does not embody one concept. It reflects many.
Unlike ordinary classes that define a fixed path, elent, or role, the Iridescent Monarch has no predetermined form. Its strength varies with the user, the situation, and the will imposed upon it.
Just as iridescence shifts with perspective, the Iridescent Monarch manifests power differently in every mont, refusing to be confined to one identity or rule.
It is not a specialization class. It is a class of dominance through adaptability.
...
"I am cooked."
’Power without a single shape... The will imposed upon it... Shifts with perspective... Refuses to be confined under one rule... Adaptability...’
Just how was he supposed to find skills that matched that description?
Cael sighed as he entered his training room.
He summoned his five clones.
"Co alive, all of you."
After giving them instructions to train and behave while he was gone, Cael freshened up, wore his uniform, and made his way toward the academic building.
Using his ID watch, Cael navigated to his classroom.
Yes, an ID watch was sothing every student had. It could store student data and rit points. It also enabled students to navigate anywhere within the Academy’s area.
It even allowed instructors to monitor students’ locations and vitals. During missions, it was a lifesaver.
Cael stood before his classroom.
A9.
Taking a step forward, he entered.
To his surprise, the class was empty.
"Did I co early?"
Cael muttered as he looked around.
A projection screen stood at the front. Uphill benches stretched toward the back, each bench fitted with three seats. In total, there were no more than sixty seats.
Just then, the classroom doors slid open as soone walked in.
Cael glanced at the newcor. Unlike him, the man wore a black shirt, indicating he was an instructor.
"Oh! I didn’t think soone would co earlier than . Or perhaps you didn’t attend yesterday’s introduction class?"
The instructor asked curiously.
Cael nodded.
"Yes, I was busy with so... things, I guess."
The instructor smiled.
"Sounds like you have it tough. Anyway, I’m William Wright. You can call Instructor William. I’m also Class A9’s person in charge."
Cael introduced himself as well.
"I am Caelir Vayne."
William sat in his assigned chair and said,
"Today’s class will start one hour late, since it’s the first day. Of course, from tomorrow onward, classes will begin on ti."
Cael thanked William for clearing his doubts and took a seat in the middle row.
Sadly for him, there were no windows in this classroom.
Soon, students began to arrive.
Before long, everyone had gathered.
Instructor William stood up from his seat and introduced himself to the class.
"Now then, I will take attendance."
He sat back down, opened his laptop, and began calling out the students’ nas.
After taking attendance, suddenly every student’s wrist ID watch rang simultaneously.
– Ding
– Ding
Cael opened the notification and saw:
5 rit Points
Cael recalled the novel’s details after seeing the ssage.
Every student received 5 rit points for attending class and 20 minus points if they skipped without informing the instructor.
William smiled and began explaining the rit system.
"The rit points are accumulated by attending classes, completing assignnts, scoring high in class competitions, and so on. These rit points will play a major role in your academic grades."
Cael nodded inwardly.
’Just as the novel described.’
He then looked around at the students and recalled their nas.
’Thank goodness, there isn’t a single nad character in this class.’
’I guess we’re all just extras.’
’Oh, ? I’m just a nad extra. Not much difference.’
"Now, attention."
William called the class to order and continued,
"Since today is your first day, let’s start with the basics."
"As many of you know, there are nine progression ranks and three stages. [Iron], [Bronze], and [Silver] are called the Low stages. [Gold], [Platinum], and [Diamond] are the Middle stages. Finally, [Mythril], [Adamant], and [Origin] are called the High stages."
If a person reached the Low stage, they were called a Low ranker. The sa applied to Middle and High rankers.
"The lifespan of ordinary people is 70 to 80 years."
"Low rankers live around 100 to 120 years."
"Middle rankers live 150 to 170 years."
"High rankers live 200 to 220 years."
Then William paused for a second and asked,
"Does anyone know what’s so special about [Origin] rank?"
Soone raised his hand and answered,
"It is the pinnacle of power."
William looked around the class to see if anyone else wanted to add sothing, then continued,
"Well, it is indeed the pinnacle of power, but... [Origin] rank is special for many reasons."
"Even though [Origin] is considered a High rank, those who reach it have a lifespan of up to 500 years."
"The second reason is that it is extrely difficult to achieve. Even SSS class holders may not reach it. Within the past two centuries, only three people have reached [Origin]. They now stand as pillars of humanity."
"I can’t say more than that. I’m telling you this to motivate you. I don’t know if it worked or not. But judging by your fiery faces, I’d say it did."
"Now then, let’s divide you into teams. Keep in mind that your teams will remain the sa for the next three years. And don’t complain."
"Let’s begin."
