Chapter 266: Hai Fu and Wen Qianyi
Li Yan left when it was already quite late, having only delivered one ticket. Since Huang Ying usually goes to bed early, he didn’t plan to go over tonight and would visit her the following day. As for Zhang Yurong and Yue Yao, he would deliver their tickets after they returned ho the next day. Thus, the tickets he needed to deliver tonight were for Hai Fu and Wen Qianyi.
He was aware of Wen Qianyi’s residence but not Hai Fu’s, so while waiting for a taxi, he called Hai Fu hoping to arrange a eting.
Hai Fu’s life was quite mundane, and she rarely frequented places like bars. Previous occasions were related to Li Yan, and now, during the weekend, she was ho alone. Seeing it was Li Yan calling, she answered swiftly.
"Didn’t you take ti off? Finished with your errands?" She was puzzled by how Li Yan seed to have so many things to attend to, but she didn’t press further, as they were adults and understood the importance of giving each other space.
"Yeah, what are you up to right now? How about coming out to have so fun? I have sothing to give you."
Li Yan spoke earnestly, but given that whenever they were alone together, he seed to harbor various romantic intentions, Hai Fu interpreted his words in another light, and couldn’t help but scoff: "What kind of ’fun’? What are you giving?"
After speaking, she hurriedly hung up. The relationship between the two was sowhat complicated, not like typical dating, sparking genuine feelings only gradually.

"I’ve bought tickets for a piano concert. If you’re free tomorrow night, I’d like to invite you to listen together."
After reading the ssage, Hai Fu was a bit stunned. She had thought Li Yan was sending a ssage to make her smile, yet hadn’t imagined he was discussing serious matters. She hadn’t expected he genuinely had sothing to give her tonight and wasn’t rely inviting her for a rendezvous.
"I’m free." She hurriedly sent back, flustered.
Yes, Li Yan’s ssage had sparked a small excitent in her. Not because she was particularly fond of concerts, but because this gesture demonstrated Li Yan’s interest in her went beyond physical attraction. Regardless of their starting point or the future, or even his intentions, at least this counted as a sowhat formal date!
"Tell your address, and I’ll co find you tomorrow." Li Yan sent another ssage, initially planning to deliver three sets tonight, leaving just two for tomorrow, but now at least three were needed, creating ti pressure.
Hai Fu didn’t hesitate and imdiately sent her ho address. Although she had previously taken Li Yan to Shishan Yao’s house, she hadn’t invited him to her own residence; their encounters always happened at the sa bar, which wasn’t near her ho. "Why? This place isn’t well-known?" Hai Fu tried to compose herself when asking.
"Yeah, just tell how to get there."
Hai Fu guided him with directions over the phone.
"Oh, that’s where it is! You’re a director, I thought you’d be living sowhere more lavish," Li Yan began to probe.
"Lavish?" Hai Fu chuckled bitterly, "You know the housing prices in S City; maybe you, as a local, don’t face this burden. It’s not like I’m starting from scratch; even after ten years as a director, what sort of luxurious house could I afford? I chose this place partly because the environnt is nice, even if the anities are average; also because the small apartnt designs were decent at the ti, offering good value for money."
"Oh, I see."
Hai Fu self-deprecatingly added, "Yes, fitting for a leftover woman like ."
Li Yan understood now; Wen Qianyi likely chose for similar reasons when selecting the place. As a business elite with considerable commissions, she was only twenty-five and relatively early in her career. The Lotus sports car cost quite a bit, so she had to budget wisely elsewhere.
Feeling reassured, he comforted Hai Fu before hanging up.
At the driver’s urging, the taxi arrived at the complex where both Hai Fu and Wen Qianyi resided. Li Yan’s last visit was also at night, so he didn’t have much impression of the surroundings; even now, he couldn’t discern the intended features.
"Dear Supervisor Wen, good evening!"
As he ascended, Li Yan dialed Wen Qianyi’s number in a cheery mood.
Wen Qianyi instantly giggled upon hearing his enthusiastic greeting, "Heh heh... intending to request leave again? Not a chance!"

Wen Qianyi herself felt the taphor wasn’t quite appropriate between a man and woman, quickly changing the subject, "If not leave, why are you calling? Borrow money? You’re not one to visit for no reason, acting so affably, who’d believe you have no motives?"
Li Yan was speechless but had to acknowledge that Wen Qianyi understood him well.
"Didn’t realize my image shone so brightly, alright, let’s make so tangible actions then. Are you outside? I’ll co over and treat you to a drink."
"You should tell by my environnt that I’m at ho, still pretending generosity, so insincere!"

"I’m not going out. Just say what you want, stop lingering." Wen Qianyi’s voice carried a sleepy laziness before bedti.
"Since you want to treat you, just the work al standard, it seed overly polite. Felt bad about it, so I specially bought sothing to give you. Since you’re at ho, I’ll co directly to find you!"
At this, Li Yan was already at Wen Qianyi’s doorstep, knocking on the door.
"You’re coming to find ? Oh no! It’s already late!" Wen Qianyi hurried to decline, "Besides, I’m about to sleep too."
"It’s fine. I’m just here to deliver sothing, not stay overnight, what’s the problem? I’ve stayed over at your place before." Once familiar, subsequent visits feel natural!
