Chapter Five: Coming Ho, Gifts

Yue Yao cherished these lingerie items, not because they were pretty, sexy, or comfortable, but because they were bought for her by Li Yan!
But she also knew that she couldn’t let Yurong know about this, otherwise, it would definitely beco a source of tension. She originally planned not to wear them after returning ho and would pack them away herself, but unexpectedly, they were still seen now.
"Are they pretty? Actually, I think there’s too little fabric..." Yue Yao picked up another camisole, compared it against herself, and hinted, "It’s mainly because of the injury on the back of my shoulder. Wearing a bra is inconvenient. "Ah..." Yue Yao looked ’surprised’ towards the door and quickly put down the camisole she was comparing against her chest.
She had noticed Li Yan coming back and intentionally acted surprised, and also reminded them to ease the topic.

Both Yurong and Yue Yao were still holding small camisoles in their hands. When he parked in the garage, he found a brand-new car already parked inside, which surprised him sowhat. Because their marriage was a secret, many friends and relatives of Yurong’s family didn’t know. Those who would visit were usually Zhang Tianyi and his wife. But they went back weekly and if there was nothing special, Zhang Tianyi and his wife wouldn’t co to the house. If sothing special was up, they wouldn’t call even once.
Moreover, he knew what Zhang Tianyi’s car was, a custom-made, very sturdy bulletproof Rolls-Royce. The new car now, he wasn’t a car enthusiast and didn’t recognize the brand by just the logo, but it was definitely not a Rolls-Royce.
He didn’t think too much and opened the door to wait for Yurong to drive back.
After helping Yue Yao out of the car, Li Yan noticed that Yurong, who followed behind, didn’t seem surprised by the car, so he asked, "Do you know who’s visiting?" He pointed to the car.
Yurong shrugged, "Nobody’s visiting!"
"What do you an?"
Zhang Yurong smiled brightly, "I bought it. The paperwork was just completed and delivered today. It’s a Lexus, a gift for you."
Li Yan looked at her, then at Yue Yao, and scratched the back of his head, "Is today my birthday?"
He was indeed confused. It wasn’t today, not even recently. Since he was uncertain, he glanced at Yue Yao, as if asking.
Yue Yao also found it strange. She rembered his birthday very clearly; it definitely wasn’t recently.
Seeing his puzzled expression, Yurong felt a bit helpless. However, due to the disparity in their family backgrounds, she hadn’t expected him to be surprised by such an expensive gift. She was content if he could calmly accept it.
"It’s not a birthday gift. You never gave a birthday gift, so why would I give you one?"
"But it’s not even Valentine’s Day yet..."
"You never gave a Valentine’s gift either..." Yurong started but then quickly interrupted herself, not wanting to seem arguntative. "Here’s the thing, aren’t you now the General Manager of Heavenly Film? You’ll have more opportunities to attend various events. I’ve noticed you’ve been working really hard recently, and you’ll likely have more occasions to travel for work. You’re still driving a small sedan, which might not be efficient enough. I know you sotis drive like a maniac, but its performance is limited, and driving it that way could lead to its premature demise. So I’m getting you a sedan for commuting, keeping the small car as a backup. When Yue Yao is ho alone, she can use it if she needs to go out."
She had prepared this explanation long ago, emphasizing the "efficiency" of the current small car without saying it was inadequate for his new position. Adding the final reason, she believed that last ti when Yue Yao took the car, making it inconvenient for him to return, would persuade him.
