Chapter Thirteen: A Tily Premonition
(Tears, after a burst, the monthly passes aren’t even half of what they were yesterday. Have everyone’s basic monthly passes already been used? There are still three days left for the double ti. Brothers who still have passes, don’t hold onto them. Starting on the 8th, you’ll need two passes to match one now. Thank you, everyone!)
For Li Yan, watching the computer screen like this is actually quite dull.
His starting point was to see if he could check through such a channel to find out if there were any traitors among the company’s high-level executives. However, trying to achieve this by hacking into the computer network and monitoring computer screens seems quite unlikely. Anyone who is truly a traitor would probably already know if there’s any action tonight and might not even need to keep watch through a computer.
However, spying on what others are doing does have a certain level of excitent. Especially when peering into the personal computers of company executives, to see what they do at ho. It also indirectly reveals their style and characteristics, so it wasn’t too boring for him. He started by rotating through their computer screens, getting a general understanding of the situation.
Basically, the numbers he distributed were all hacked by 526. He was inford which screen corresponded to which number, so he could identify the people by their QQ numbers in Yurong’s computer.
Among these executives’ computers, they didn’t brush off Zhang Yurong. At least the computers were on. But several screens were static, suggesting the owners weren’t present, or not always in front of them. For the computers with activity, a few were browsing the news, while others were viewing docunts on their devices.
All in all, it turned out to be a rather dull affair.
Even the privacy revealed was not particularly interesting. No high-level was caught in inappropriate chats or watching adult content, and naturally, there was no communication with others as well.
Nonetheless, surveillance is inherently tedious, requiring long hours of monitoring due to its uncertainty; no one knows what the other party might do next.
The door was securely locked, and Li Yan played so music at a low volu. He then used Zhang Yurong’s computer to browse the internet while adjusting his computer to display all screens, occasionally checking them.
As ti ticked away, at eleven o’clock in the evening, a QQ notification sound chid on Zhang Yurong’s computer, signaling a new ssage in the temporary reporting group!
Is sothing happening?
The previously bored Li Yan imdiately perked up. Upon checking the group’s ssage, it ca from PR Director, Lin Fenni:
"Just received news from a dia friend that Zhou Shiru has contacted so financial journalists to convene a press conference at 12 o’clock! It’s highly likely orchestrated and arranged by Changhe Group!"
Li Yan had a rough idea that Changhe Group was the competitor lodging complaints against Paradise Group, and Zhou Shiru was the forr chief lawyer of the legal departnt, now regarded as the bribed traitor they all faced.
The fact that this news was first sent by the PR Director wasn’t surprising, as her dia connections were the most extensive. However, given his distrust for all of them, Li Yan didn’t imdiately believe her words. Instead, he checked her QQ number and then opened the surveillance window on her computer screen corresponding to her number.
At this mont, the QQ group quickly beca active with ssages as other executives swiftly responded to the news. So inquired whether it was true and reliable, so questioned where the press conference would be held, while others asked for Changhe Group’s reaction, wondering if they were in league together...
Of course, everyone was also waiting for instructions from President Zhang Yurong on whether to imdiately start a video conference. So ergency plans had already been established during previous etings; they now only needed the president’s directive.
But Li Yan was not paying attention to the group ssages; his focus was entirely on the screen of his computer. What he saw was Lin Fenni’s computer screen, and she also had the QQ group open, naturally seeing all the remarks in the group.
However, his main concern wasn’t the group discussions, but the content in another dialog box open on Lin Fenni’s desktop.
He couldn’t see who was typing off-screen but clearly noticed that after Lin Fenni exposed the news, she was only observing the QQ group activity without talking, instead engaged in a separate chat with soone else. Seeing the unfinished chat log with that person, it was apparent that this was the so-called dia friend who had provided her with the tip.
Originally, this wasn’t surprising—so preferred phone calls, others text ssages, and the dia friend could be more than just a news-reporting journalist, perhaps an editor, chief editor, or planner, making it plausible even to chat from ho via computer.
However, what led Li Yan to smirk was the information disclosed by the person to Lin Fenni—everything was set and ready at the Century Seaview Hotel, the press conference was already in preparation, and it would "tily advance" at 11:30 at night. At this mont, so dia have already arrived on site, with others continuing to rush there!
