Chapter 124: Li Yan’s Selfie
Yue Yao was in the bathtub, truly struggling not just to hold her breath, but also with anxiety. If Zhang Yurong ca any closer, she might discover her, and then even jumping into the Yellow River wouldn’t cleanse her of suspicion.
While in the bathtub, she tried to listen to what was happening outside. Hearing Li Yan’s words faintly, she knew Zhang Yurong had gone out, so she quickly stood up in the tub. Taking big gulps of air and wiping her face, she felt cold sweat all over. This situation felt more thrilling and tense than danger.
Though Zhang Yurong was sent out by Li Yan, it was uncertain whether she would return quickly, so Yue Yao had to use the mont to swiftly leave this place. To run outside, she had to first get out of the bathtub, inevitably seeing Li Yan in the shower...
Though they’d had intimate contact in the bathtub, she really didn’t feel any enjoynt; her heart was wildly anxious. She even regretted being so careless earlier, otherwise, she wouldn’t have been in such a precarious situation.
Just as she was about to rush out, Li Yan grabbed her wrist.
"Stop ssing around..." Yue Yao pleaded softly; making jokes now would only amplify their crisis.
"I’m not ssing around. I an, you’re covered in bubbles and water droplets. Running out like this would leave a trail of water in the room and hallway. When Yurong cos back and follows this path to your room, how could she not be suspicious? How could she not guess?" Li Yan said, while rinsing her with the showerhead.
"What should I do?" Yue Yao quickly washed off the bubbles on her body, but resolving the issue was tricky because she hadn’t had ti to take off her clothes when she subrged in the tub and was soaked through.
"Take them off! Wring them dry, and carry them back."
Li Yan seriously suggested, though even he found it ludicrous.
Predicting Yue Yao’s hesitation, he quickly added: "Look, I can only keep my eyes closed now, so how could I sneak a peek? Besides, you just need to take off the dress, not the underwear inside. Then I’ll wring it dry for you, you can use a towel to roughly dry yourself, and you can run out."
Yue Yao hesitated but knew if she delayed further, Zhang Yurong might return!
Resolutely, she decided it was just Li Yan, so she didn’t care if he saw and began to undress. In fact, she wasn’t worried about Li Yan seeing her—running out in underwear and being caught by Yurong would be even worse!
Quickly, she had removed the dress. Li Yan reached for a towel, urging her to wipe the water from her hair and body—not fully dry, just enough so it wouldn’t obviously drip on the floor.
While she quickly wiped, Li Yan took her dress and wrung it dry.
Being a ticulous person, Yue Yao not only dried herself but moved to a dry area to clean the water off her slippers.
The entire process was rushed, taking very little ti before she set the towel down, took the wet clothes from Li Yan, and sprinted out.
Li Yan resud his shower, recalling the recent events, sweating coldly—what a ss! All for a bit of thrill, things got so intense.

After showering, Li Yan put on pajamas, with nothing underneath. His eyes felt better, though still uncomfortable, squinting was no problem.
He sat on the bed, looking at the bouquet still on it, wondering if Yue Yao had been caught by Yurong. Occasionally thinking of Sonia and the others, pondering if they escaped with the antiques successfully, surely, Old Shi’s team wouldn’t have trouble?
After a while, he decided not to bother with such thoughts—better to focus on himself and the present.
At this point, there was a knock at his door, and soone ca in.
Squinting up, he saw Yurong carrying a tray with a bowl of sothing.
"No one went to buy cigarettes for you, we heated up leftover soup from last night, want so?" Yurong placed the tray by the bed, seeing Li Yan fully dressed, she spoke calmly, no longer embarrassed.
Whether for cigarettes or food, for Li Yan, it had just been an excuse to temporarily send her away to give Yue Yao a chance to leave. Now that the main goal was achieved, having soup was a bonus.
"Absolutely! Why wouldn’t I? It’s rare for you to heat up soup for personally." Li Yan took the tray, carefully placing it on his lap, and blew the spoonful before sipping.
"Are your eyes better? You looked sowhat lecherous checking people out?" Yurong stood idly in front of him, finding it dull, she picked a topic while sitting beside him.
Li Yan chuckled bitterly: "Don’t tease, alright? I can only squint to see sothing now!"
