Mona pursed her lips: "Next ti I’ll play the aloof young lady and you play the maiden!"
June Weiss said with a sly smile: "You playing the young lady, with a sour face and not speaking, except for those shaless scoundrels, who would want to bother with us."
Mona snorted, unable to retort, and consequently shifted her gaze to the sleeping Carson Flores: "Shall we kill him?"
"It’s just been a few days of doing dishes, is it necessary?"
June Weiss walked to the pavilion, smiling at Carson Flores lying on the couch: "We’re here for money, no need to kill. I don’t want to end up on that list of villains. Besides, Young Master Lin has made us quite the tasty als these days. Having enjoyed his food, washing so dishes seems fair, doesn’t it? Killing him over that would be heartless."
Mona snorted coldly: "You talk as if you’re a compassionate and soft-hearted girl, yet when killing, you’re quicker than ."
June Weiss smiled: "Those lecherous fools are utter scum. My killing them is akin to ridding evil for the people. I only ever asked them to accompany for safety. Never said I’d share a bed with them as paynt, right?"
Mona looked up at the sky: "By the ti we count the hours, the Golden-Winged Great Roc will be back. Prepare the bait."
June Weiss chuckled: "Don’t worry, it definitely can’t resist the temptation. I used ten tis the dose of the drug. If it’s not knocked out, just slowing its reaction a bit is enough. Once under the control ring, no matter how strong it is, it’ll obey!"
Mona’s eyes lit up with a hint of delight: "Such a Golden-Winged Great Roc could fetch a fortune!"
Pausing for a mont, Mona turned to look at Carson Flores: "To be safe, let’s take his Space Ring first."
Mona walked into the pavilion, stood in front of Carson Flores, and reached for the Space Ring on his finger.
Just as Mona’s hand was about to touch the Space Ring, Carson Flores’ hand suddenly withdrew like a Spirit Snake, then made a peculiar twist and avoided Mona’s hand, aiming for her shoulder.
Sword Qi shot from his fingers, incredibly sharp.
Mona didn’t expect Carson Flores to not be knocked out, but she thankfully held onto a asure of caution. Seeing the impending danger, she instantly activated the spell Barrier on her pendant.
The Sword Qi directly hit the Barrier, broke through it, then pierced her shoulder, going clean through.
Mona retreated quickly, her face full of shock and anger: "You didn’t pass out!"
June Weiss was also greatly surprised, her smile fading, as a Black Ruler appeared before her with a gesture, cautiously watching Carson Flores.
"Mona, are you alright?"
Mona glanced at her pierced shoulder, her face cold: "Pierced through the shoulder, it’s not a big deal."
Carson Flores smiled: "Though you bear resentnt and wanted to kill , you ultimately didn’t make a move. Otherwise, the Sword Qi wouldn’t have pierced your shoulder but your heart."
Mona gritted her teeth, eyes filled with anger and shock, but she knew that had Carson Flores really aid for her heart during his sudden attack, she might not have dodged it.
A calculated move versus an unprepared one, how could you defend at such close range?
"You’ve shown rcy on , now do you know if I would show rcy to you?"
Carson Flores stood up and exited the pavilion, a spell falling down, shrinking the pavilion, which then flew into Carson Flores’ hand.
"This thing is quite useful for traveling, so let’s not damage it."
Mona watched Carson Flores leisurely, her eyes revealing so suspicion: "Are you stalling for ti, waiting for the Golden-Winged Great Roc’s return?"
Carson Flores smiled: "It’s not coming back because I made it not co back. If I want it back, it’ll return imdiately."
As Carson Flores spoke, the sound of swiftly moving wind suddenly ca from the sky. The huge form of the Golden-Winged Great Roc sliced through the air like a ghost, appearing over everyone’s heads, then landed behind Carson Flores amidst a gust of wind.
June Weiss’s expression had already returned to calm: "You clearly drank my spiked drink, why didn’t you pass out?"
Carson Flores softly smiled: "I’m an Alchemist. If I couldn’t distinguish the taste of Three-Day Drunk, wouldn’t all my elixirs be made in vain?"
"Alchemist?"
June Weiss was stunned: "You never ntioned that."
Carson Flores laughed: "Would you reveal all your cards cleanly in front of two suspicious individuals with ill intentions?"
June Weiss frowned: "You knew from the start we had ill intentions?"
Carson Flores smiled at Mona: "You praise your maiden for being thrifty and reticent, not speaking much. But I really didn’t see how she was thrifty. For anything she does, she needs your call, lacks intuition, and when she does act, she seems clumsy and is not at all proficient, sotis showing traces of little emotions. Such a maiden, if not beaten to death by the master, really is a miracle."
Mona’s face flushed red. So the one who slipped up was herself!
The other side had sensed sothing was off from the beginning, just never ntioned it!
Thinking about being exposed long ago yet still pretending to be a maiden in front of him, Mona wished desperately to find a hole to hide in.
So embarrassing!
