Hot!
Even though everyone here was a Cultivator, standing beneath three blazing suns, they still felt as if they were about to be roasted to a crisp.
Everyone summoned all sorts of magical treasures to cool themselves down; the bizarre scene added a touch of absurdity to the otherwise tense atmosphere.
Looking at the scene before him, Carson Flores suddenly, for no reason, felt a sense of relief.
Good thing Mary Jinez and the other two won hadn’t followed him here, otherwise this trip would probably have been nothing but disasters.
"Go three thousand li forward in the direction of the suns. That will be your place of residence, and soone will guide you."
"Anyone who tries to escape... dies."
The cold, emotionless voice suddenly rang out in the air.
Everyone searched around, but still couldn’t find the speaker. Their hearts were instantly filled with fear.
This woman’s strength was terrifying.
What exactly did she want them to do?
The scorching suns were blazing; it felt like their bodies could ignite at any mont. No one wanted to keep baking under this sky. Since they were already here, they might as well go see what was going on.
That woman had gone to such lengths to capture so many of them; she couldn’t possibly have done it just to kill them all, right?
Everyone flew toward the direction of the suns. Three thousand li passed in an instant.
An old man was waiting for them in midair, hands clasped behind his back.
"You’re all here?"
"Follow ."
Having finally seen another person, soone couldn’t help but ask, "Excuse , where exactly is this place, and who might you be, senior?"
The old man answered calmly, "I’m the sa as you. I was brought here from a Secret Realm that was replaced, just arrived a bit earlier. My surna is Chen. I’m temporarily serving as the steward here. You can call Steward Roth or Old Chen."
Carson Flores and a few others already knew the truth, so they weren’t surprised, but the others all widened their eyes in delight.
"The people who vanished when those Secret Realms disappeared earlier, are they all here?"
"What do you all do here?"
"Can we still go back?"
Steward Roth’s expression remained calm. He waited until everyone had finished their barrage of questions, then spoke evenly: "First, once you arrive here, you beco the master’s slaves. Your lives and deaths are held in the master’s hands."
Slaves?
Just like that, they were slaves?
Everyone felt resentful, but no one dared speak out against it.
The scene of Zauren bringing out the Myriad Immortals Palace and summoning an Immortal Emperor, only to get slapped half to death with a single palm, was still vivid in their minds.
Their lives and deaths were in soone else’s grasp. Slaves then, slaves. Who told their strength to be lacking, that they couldn’t win?
"Second, everyone here has to work. You must periodically hand in a set amount of designated resources to the master. Anything you harvest beyond that quota belongs to you. If you submit more than the required amount, you can exchange that surplus for Points. Points can be exchanged for Cultivation Techniques, Cultivation Resources, and the like. If your Points reach a certain amount, you can even exchange them for freedom."
At those words, everyone’s eyes instantly lit up with excitent.
Freedom!
They could all guess that Points wouldn’t be easy to obtain, and that the amount needed to exchange for freedom definitely wouldn’t be low, but it was still a hope, wasn’t it?
The rules were set by a Quasi-Saint; no one thought they would lie to them. Even if they wanted to conceal the secret of this place, a single "reveal the secret here and you’ll be annihilated by the Heavenly Dao" true vow would settle it easily.
Steward Roth continued, "Third, everyone here is a slave, and your lives belong to the master. Therefore, fighting is forbidden, and robbing others of their belongings is forbidden. Violators will be severely punished."
"All right, everyone, follow ."
Steward Roth turned and set off, and everyone hurried to follow.
After flying for a distance, Steward Roth lowered his altitude and then flew into a massive ravine.
The ravine was very deep, and because of the angle, the scorching suns couldn’t shine into its depths. The farther down they flew, the lower the temperature beca.
Soon, everyone landed at the bottom of the ravine. The air was still hot and dry, but at least it no longer felt like they were being directly roasted by fire.
On both sides of the ravine, many large holes had been chiseled into the rock walls, and as the group arrived, figures erged from many of the openings.
"Yo, Steward Roth, more Newcors again?"
"Looks like a lot ca this ti."
"The more the better. If we can dig this place out sooner, we won’t have to suffer like this. Keep dragging it out like this, and one of these days we’re going to die here from sheer exhaustion."
Carson Flores swept his gaze around; the caves on the rock wall were densely packed, stretching out so far he couldn’t see the end.
If each cave housed one person, there had to be at least several thousand, maybe even more.
Steward Roth ignored those people and turned to instruct, "The surface temperature is too high, so this chasm is where we live. Deeper down beneath the chasm, there’s an underground water source."
"I’ll give each of you a numbered tag. Wear it around your neck and never take it off. If anyone takes it off, it will be treated as an attempted escape and you will be killed without exception!"
"Once you get your tag, first settle your lodging. As you can see, there are many caves in these rock walls. Most of them are already unoccupied. You can pick any you like, or dig your own, just don’t collapse the place."
"Today is your first day here, so you won’t be assigned to work yet. What you need to do is get familiar with this place and adjust your ntality, because you’re going to be living here for a long ti..."
