Once Karl and his opponents had caught their breath, they left the stage arm in arm, headed for the triage tent.
"Protocol, you see. Not everyone has the regeneration rate of a troll on amphetamines, so of us actually get injured and stay that way. Especially when soone starts throwing around the Fundantal Rule of Chaos like it's no big deal."
"Every rule has its upsides and downsides. I know a girl who mastered the rule of Chaos and still had her face disfigured by an Order Elent beast." Karl shrugged.
"With a perfected rule of Chaos?" The Immortal asked, confused as to what could have happened.
"She tried to taste test a Demigod. While it was still alive."
The Immortal choked, and then stumbled over his feet, only narrowly escaping embarrassnt.
"She did what now? I an, to know your Rule, you must live your Rule. But that's a bit too chaotic."
"She will advance soon, and join us here in the Immortal Worlds. I'm sure you'll get to et her at so point. She's really quite sweet once you get to know her."
For a mont, the Immortal wondered what soone who had fully embraced Chaos would be like, then decided to never think of that again.
For the sake of his own sanity.
"So, you changed the focus of your studies from Chaos to Mana Manipulation?" he asked instead.
"Not exactly. I'm still working on Chaos, and I touched on the Rule of Fire as well. It's a unique aspect of my class. There are others that I have a bit of insight into, but far from enough to make a complete rule." Karl offered as they reached the tent.
Rae had mastered two, but none of the others were at all inclined to such a feat.
Not even the Dana Mage was after two Fundantal Rules.
"You, co in first. I've got questions." The dic, a white dragon cleric, demanded.
"If you have blue dragons here, you should probably call them too. They get mad if they have to find out secondhand."
The dic shrugged. "They're not particularly interested in staying in a money focused rchant Clan. We rarely co across new knowledge, as we focus on things that we already know are profitable.
They're more likely to end up in one of the crafting, research or even the cultivation groups. Those at least co across profound insights now and then. But that's a matter for later.
First, how did you get a physique that can regenerate like that? Is it an Epic Grade skill? Second, your durability, is it also a skill? Or is it a side effect of the regeneration ability?"
Karl pulled out a chair and took a seat. "There is a long version and a short version. I will start with the shorter version.
I had an encounter in a divine relic that granted a very unique constitution. It maximized my stats at every level. Then, I had another fortunate encounter with a skill book that granted an Epic Physique. The two combined to give an absolutely massive amount of durability.
That, combined with Limited Invulnerability, which reduces damage taken by a flat ten percent of my health, and a regeneration skill that is also a percentage of my total health per second, and I beca a living dungeon boss."
The dragon nodded slowly as he made notes. "Alright. Put that way, it makes sense. It's horrifically broken, but it at least makes sense. Are there any other survivability related skills I should know about as the Clan's primary healer?" "Well, I have barriers, more barriers, [Night Haunter] to make incorporeal, a backup regeneration skill. Then there is [Behemoth], which I used in Dragon form, that increases my health along with my size.
There are probably more skills that I'm not thinking of right now that are directly related to making hard to kill, but those are the essentials."
In his space, Leo laughed. The Karl would have made an excellent turtle if he had been born with a shell. He certainly had the right attitude toward defensive skills.
"Getting a tank class is a good thing. There are dungeons in this world, the sa as in your world, and the teams always need another tank." One of the other immortals suggested.
"Yeah, you could join our team. All we need is a tank, and we can go much more often. Gaining experience from the dungeons is more fun than ditation or gathering materials for alchemy pills." Another agreed.
"I'm not a tank, though. I'm really survivable, but I don't have any skills for actually being the main tank in a dungeon. I can gather monsters decently, and I can take a hit. But I have no skills for shield use, evasion, or even an advanced
combat style.
I'm more of a really durable ranger." Karl joked.
"At what point does it stop mattering? If you're durable enough, you don't really need skills to work as the main tank in most trials. You just need to be able to gather the monsters to you, and you can do that with your area skills."
"I will keep it in mind, but I normally go with my wife. We're Soul Bonded, so it's better if we keep our power levels growing at the sa rate. If not, the imbalance can cause issues for what the other one is doing.
Precision work is difficult when your partner is in a dungeon, building strength.
If they get too good of an opportunity, it can even cause a crafting attempt to
fail."
The white dragon smiled. "You know, it's not often that you see followers of the Dragon Gods so devoted to each other. It's a wonderful thing to know that there are still couples so devoted to their eternal love that they would rather
die than betray one another.
Especially here, where eternity has a rather different connotation than in the Mortal Realms."
The Immortal who had started the challenge nodded excitedly.
"It's like a romantic drama play. The gallant hero willing to die instead of letting
his true love be stolen away."
Karl chuckled. "Well, soone would die for that, but I suspect it wouldn't be
."
"Not when you can beat half a raid team to death with your bare hands." The
healer agreed.
"You're good to go watch the fight, by the way."
