Now reading: Chapter 60 60: Why is it here? from The Flower Is Finished, a Drama novel by Saputra Nugroho.

After examining Farel's parents, we decided to leave the place.

Since the water was rising higher, we decided to find a way so we wouldn't drown.

Arif took several dicines from his backpack and went behind a wall where there was a room whose contents I didn't know.

When he returned, he brought a boat.

My mouth fell open when I saw the small boat he carried, though it could hold four people.

"Where did you get all of this?" Farel asked after realizing sothing seed strange about Arif.

"I knew it was here."

But his answer didn't satisfy us, so I stared at him.

"This place is where I usually study when I don't want to be disturbed or interact with anyone."

His answer still made frown.

"So you're a student here?" Farel asked again.

He nodded hesitantly.

"Yes, I study here."

"Alright, let's get out of here. The water is getting higher."

After that we boarded the boat one by one.

Even though the palace was not very tall, it seed the Elf clan territory had been flooded. I wondered how this land could return to its original state. It didn't seem like the water would recede easily.

We were already on the boat.

I rowed with both hands alternately while Arif rowed in front.

"Where did all this water co from?" I asked, rembering that no water source should be large enough to drown such a large area.

"Let's just find a safe place first," Farel said.

I nodded.

The situation was chaotic.

Several areas were flooded, and the sll of blood was clearly in the air.

I hoped Shasha and the others managed to escape safely and leave this place as quickly as possible.

My aunt slowly opened her eyes and gently tapped Farel's thigh.

Farel imdiately looked at her worriedly.

"Are you in pain, Mother?"

She shook her head.

"Did you et your sister?" she asked Farel.

I just listened.

"Shasha?" he asked.

My aunt nodded.

"You're Shasha's brother?" Arif asked with disbelief.

Farel looked at him.

"Yes. Why?"

"Could you stop calling Arif?"

I looked at him in confusion. Wasn't that his na?

"So you didn't et her?" my aunt asked again weakly.

Arif and I looked at each other and shook our heads at the sa ti.

"Isn't that your na?" I asked while scratching my head.

He rolled his eyes.

"My na is Alex, not Arif."

I scratched my head awkwardly because earlier I thought his na was Arif.

"Oh, sorry. I thought your na was Arif."

He sighed and continued rowing.

Farel looked at suspiciously and moved closer to .

The boat shook slightly.

"Don't move. The boat could flip," Alex said.

Farel nodded and slowly leaned closer to .

He raised his eyebrows and I understood what he ant.

"Who is he?" he whispered.

"That's your sister's friend," I whispered back.

"What?!" he shouted loudly.

Alex glared at him.

"You're serious? She has friends?" Farel asked in disbelief.

I nodded.

"So you think she's here too?"

"Wasn't she supposed to be watching Grandma Wilona?" he asked.

"Then where is she now? Why didn't you bring her here and save her?"

I lightly hit his head.

"I already thought about that before you even said it."

He chuckled.

"You always plan everything carefully and perfectly."

"Xanders… I'm sorry for hurting your feelings earlier. I didn't an it. Maybe you can forgive , but I still can't forgive myself."

I smiled faintly.

"You know my personality. Don't think about it too much."

He tried to hug , but I raised my hand to stop him.

"Can you not hug in a situation like this?"

He scratched his head awkwardly and looked at Alex who was watching us.

"You two don't like each other, right?" Alex asked.

Farel suddenly coughed loudly.

"You think I like n?"

"Look at carefully. I'm more handso than him. How could I possibly like him?"

He spoke passionately.

Alex chuckled.

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say."

Then he looked forward again.

Suddenly the sky beca cloudy.

We panicked because we couldn't find any higher land.

"I kind of forgot the map," Alex said while scratching his head.

I imdiately rembered the map of the Elf clan territory.

"Do you rember it?" Alex asked .

I nodded.

"I'm not sure, but behind the villagers' houses there is a hill that is quite high. Maybe we can stay there for a while."

Alex nodded.

"So where do we go now?"

I couldn't plan anything clearly because the situation had completely changed from what we expected.

I also didn't know how George was doing.

"From here we go straight. The path might be steep because the trees are dense."

Alex nodded again.

The sun grew hotter, but the water still didn't recede.

It looked like a massive flood, but we didn't know where the water ca from.

From here I could see the villagers' houses completely subrged. The water had reached about five ters high.

Since the Elf people had small houses, the flood made them disappear quickly.

For two hours we drifted on the water.

Even the hill was almost subrged, forcing us to look for another place.

My uncle and aunt had opened their eyes, although they still couldn't move well.

They occasionally talked with us to ease the tension.

"How is Grandma Wilona?" my aunt asked hoarsely.

I rembered the last ti I saw her.

"She's fine. She also told several tis not to have a treacherous heart."

My aunt smiled faintly.

"That's good. Maybe she just needs a new environnt."

Suddenly she rembered Shasha and her eyes widened.

"Where is Shasha?"

She looked worried and tapped my uncle.

"Did you see Shasha, Xanders?"

I paused.

"Yes. I t her. Hopefully she managed to escape the flood."

She sighed with relief.

"Actually we wanted to co earlier, but suddenly many people ca to our house and forced everyone to go to the palace hall."

She explained again.

I nodded because Shasha had already told about it.

"Where did you et her?" my uncle asked.

"In the prison."

"What?!"

"Prison? Then where is she now?"

"We t briefly. I told her to leave this place. She warned that a disaster would happen after she escaped, so she should already be safe."

They nodded.

"Isn't that a mountain?" Alex asked while pointing ahead.

There was a tall mountain, though the rising water caused the boat to scrape against tree branches.

"Yes. Let's go there."

Farel nodded excitedly.

But when we were almost there, suddenly a head appeared from the water.

I was shocked.

"Michael!"

The others were also startled, causing the boat to shake slightly.

"Xanders… I finally found you," he said weakly while holding onto the boat.

"Why are you here?" I asked worriedly and told him to climb aboard.

"Co on. I'll help you get on the boat."

He stretched out his hands and Alex and I pulled him up together.

I saw Michelle was completely soaked, and her lips were pale. She must have been exhausted from swimming.

"Who is she?" Alex asked carefully, noticing she looked sowhat similar to .

"Oh… she's my friend," I said while introducing her to Alex and Farel's parents.

"You have a female friend now?" my aunt asked with a soft laugh.

I cleared my throat awkwardly when I saw her smiling.

"So what made you desperate enough to follow here?"

It wasn't easy for her to reach this place.

"Can I rest for a mont? My chest really hurts," she said weakly.

I nodded.

Without realizing it, sothing felt different.

Sothing that was ignored before seed like it was about to happen again.
