"Since you’ve agreed, I’ll start gathering so manpower later. Once these researchers have developed the cyborgs, we can proceed." Liu Baowen wasn’t surprised by Liu Hun’s agreent; after all, he had offered to help Liu Hun on his own initiative. If Liu Hun still refused, he’d truly be a fool.
"As for the official side, I’ll handle that soon. After a couple of days, we’ll head to the Provincial City together. It’s ti for a change in Southeast Province." With that, Liu Hun gently closed his eyes, saying nothing more.
Seeing Liu Hun’s deanor, Liu Baowen hesitated slightly with a furrowed brow, then looked up and said in a deep voice, "Xiao Tian, once we’ve handled the situation in Southeast Province, how confident are you about going to Beijing?"
Hearing Liu Baowen’s words, Liu Hun slowly opened his eyes and looked at him. A long while passed before a faint smile curled on his lips. "Thirty percent confident!" he said calmly.
"Thirty percent, huh? That’s quite a lot. Initially, I thought you might say you weren’t confident at all," Liu Baowen chuckled softly upon hearing Liu Hun’s response.
Seeing Liu Baowen’s usually stern face breaking into a smile, Liu Hun paused montarily but said nothing more.
Liu Baowen’s unexpected offer to help Liu Hun deal with the underground forces was a surprise, yet it significantly alleviated Liu Hun’s burden.
Only Liu Hun and Wang Xiaofei left the research facility. Liu Baowen stayed behind, uneasy about the cyborg research, keeping a close watch on the developnts.
The situation in Huaihai Province had settled sowhat, but Liu Baowen still hesitated to transfer a large number of people, fearing it might attract unwanted attention from higher-ups, complicating any efforts to manage the situation.
Thus, the cyborgs played a crucial role. Once they had a batch of cyborgs, they could more easily eliminate all underground forces in Southeast Province.
"Boss, do you really trust Liu Baowen to handle all this?" Wang Xiaofei asked Liu Hun hesitantly after leaving the research facility.
"I know what you’re thinking. Liu Baowen is ambitious, and even I can’t fully understand his true motives. But we have no other choice right now. His offer to help is a good thing for us, and in this world, brute strength speaks. As long as we keep building our power, we won’t have to worry about whatever tricks he might play." Liu Hun answered Wang Xiaofei calmly.
At noon, with nothing else to do, Liu Hun decided to invite Wang Xiaofei, Huang Tingting, and Liu Baowen for a al to welco Liu Baowen.
Unfortunately, Liu Baowen wasn’t interested in dinner, and Huang Tingting was also busy from yesterday. Though the hospital was found, there was still work to be done to get people inside it. Despite help from the female doctor, Huang Tingting preferred to handle the arrangents personally.
So, it was just Liu Hun and Wang Xiaofei left to dine.
Although Liu Hun was pressed for ti, they were still awaiting the research on the cyborgs, which needed a day or two more. So, with nowhere else to go, Liu Hun lingered idly in Fenglin County.
"Just tell where you want to eat today, and I’ll indulge you this once," Liu Hun said to Wang Xiaofei boldly after leaving the Zuiqing Brothel.
Hearing this, Wang Xiaofei’s eyes lit up, though he was a bit dubious. "Boss, are you really serious? Anywhere I choose?"
"Of course, when have I ever not kept my word?" Liu Hun shot a glance at Wang Xiaofei, sowhat disdainful.
"Alright, in that case, I’ll drive," Wang Xiaofei said with a smile, taking the wheel.
Seeing Wang Xiaofei’s deanor, Liu Hun felt a twinge of doubt. Young as he was, Wang Xiaofei was passionate about food—but not to this extent.
Filled with curiosity, Liu Hun got into the car, and Wang Xiaofei drove ahead.
About an hour later, unable to hold back any longer, Liu Hun, sitting in the passenger seat, asked Wang Xiaofei, "Fenglin County isn’t that big, you’ve almost driven around half the city. Where exactly are you planning to eat?"
"We’re almost there," Wang Xiaofei said sheepishly, replying quickly to Liu Hun’s question.
Hearing this, Liu Hun shook his head in resignation, closing his eyes to rest.
About another half-hour passed before Liu Hun felt the car stop. Slowly, he opened his eyes.
Upon seeing his surroundings, Liu Hun was montarily stunned. They were in the suburbs. Although Fenglin County was small, as a populous county with a strategic location, it had thrived. Yet, the suburbs seed desolate.
The area resembled the countryside, with old houses marked by rust that indicated decades of neglect, appearing ready to collapse at any mont.
In front of them stood a two-story house with a sign reading "Dongi Restaurant," though the sign was dirty and bedraggled, matching the surroundings.
"Boss, we’re here," Wang Xiaofei excitedly told Liu Hun, parking the car.
In response, Liu Hun surveyed the area again, finding no other restaurants nearby. A few black lines creased his forehead.
Liu Hun had no qualms about the location or the food. But driving an hour and a half just to eat in such a rundown place wasn’t sothing he’d choose to do. Yet, Wang Xiaofei had brought him here.
"If the food here isn’t good, I swear I’ll kick your head like a ball!" Liu Hun stated through gritted teeth to Wang Xiaofei.
While Liu Hun had so free ti, spending three hours commuting for a al seed wasteful. He’d rather spend the ti cultivating. So being upset at Wang Xiaofei was logical.
"Relax, Boss. I assure you this restaurant has the best food in all of Fenglin County!" Wang Xiaofei assured, visibly excited.
Ignoring Wang Xiaofei, Liu Hun got out and headed toward Dongi Restaurant.
As Liu Hun approached, he noticed Wang Xiaofei hesitating and turned to see a worried look on his face.
"What’s the hold-up? Are we eating or not?" Liu Hun asked, frustrated.
"Coming," Wang Xiaofei replied, gritting his teeth and hurrying to catch up.
When they stepped inside, Liu Hun instinctively frowned upon seeing the scene.
The restaurant was simple, with several tables scattered around. The floor was littered with trash and food debris left by previous patrons. The room was packed with locals and workers. Despite being winter, the sll was intense, bothering Liu Hun.
"Boss, there’s an empty table over there. We should hurry before it’s taken," Wang Xiaofei suggested with a placating smile upon entering.
Hearing this, Liu Hun’s mouth twitched slightly. Already there, he couldn’t argue and followed Wang Xiaofei to a table in the corner.
"Hey, isn’t this Xiaofei? Back for more, I see! How about the usual? Three dishes and a beer?" An overweight woman approached with a friendly smile, holding a notebook and wearing a dirty apron around her waist.
"Auntie Li, I brought a friend this ti, so we’ll order ourselves. We’ll let you know once we’ve decided. No need to fuss; we’re not strangers," Wang Xiaofei replied, smiling back at the woman.
