On top of the wall, hundreds, if not thousands, of people were already standing, preparing to intercept the enemy. Because of the strength of the beasts, the wall was made thicker and taller so that it could withstand the beasts’ attacks.
At the sa ti, the turrets had been properly adjusted and aid at the incoming beasts.
A lot of people looked nervous, considering that they had to face a beast wave. Still, there were people who had survived one or two beast waves.
These battle-hardened warriors had steeled their resolve, knowing what was going to happen.
The Lightning Emperor was standing on top of the wall, observing the enemy’s movent.

The mayor simply said, "Commander."

"No need to worry about wasting resources. I will take care of the funding. Just kill them, will you?"
"That’s what I would like to hear." The commander smirked.
"Happy hunting, Commander."
"Hope you will like what you’re going to see, Mayor." The commander grinned.
"Sir, they are now three hundred ters from us," one of the operators inford the commander out loud.

As soon as the command was given, the turrets started firing toward the beasts.
The beasts could see a few flashes coming from the city wall. After another two seconds, magic bullets started to rain down on them.

Beasts were shot, the ground was chipped away, and the bodies started to roll down uncontrollably.
So beasts fell because of the corpses, but most of them easily avoided them. At the sa ti, the beasts were releasing their respective energy, using the collective energy to form a barrier.
This made it much harder for the bullets to kill even a single beast.
In addition, the terror from the beast wave was not only from the number of beasts but also from the flying beasts.
There were at least a few hundred flying beasts heading toward the city. If they didn’t do anything about them, these beasts would harm the city.
That was why many officers started moving according to the commander’s order.
"All gunners. Fire at will. Snipers, focus on the flying beasts. Attackers, protect our gunners, the beasts are coming!"
These orders were relayed to everyone. Many people imdiately moved toward the edge of the wall and aid their guns, firing everything they had.
The snipers were right behind them since their targets were in the sky.

However, the beasts weren’t completely powerless. Many beasts sent their respective attacks forward.
So beasts launched a boulder at the city wall, trying to break it. So were sending fireballs at the people on top of the wall to suppress them.
With the beasts having a greater number, their firepower was superior to the humans.
The wall, on the other hand, had been made specifically to withstand this attack. It was also built tall, so most attacks couldn’t reach the people at the top.
At the sa ti, so heavy attacks hit the wall, but the wall remained intact. After the beast apocalypse, people preferred to focus on strengthening the wall rather than using their resources to amplify their guns. As a result, they used magic bullets.
The bullets might travel more slowly, but they packed more punch and were more cost-effective.
Still, this wasn’t enough to stop the beasts.
They had made a ditch outside the wall to make it harder to climb, but they had only dug a single ditch.

"This is Adjudicator #0D5 Maya Relesha."
"!!!" The mayor widened his eyes. He knew about Maya Relesha, considering she had been banished here. But she should be a forr adjudicator, not an active one.
"I have heard of you, Adjudicator Maya. However, if I’m not wrong, your status has been revoked."
"I’ve been reinstated just a minute ago. I don’t have ti to explain. There is reliable information that this beast wave is preditated."
"What?" The commander frowned. "What do you an?"
"I believe that the enemy is coming to seize the newly discovered ruins that contain all elents. The enemy is trying to build a laboratory near the ruins for a much larger operation, and to avoid any eyes, they’re most likely trying to bring this city down."
The commander didn’t know what was going on. He turned to the mayor.

"That’s impossible. In the current state, it’s impossible to send any reinforcents."

"!!!" Maya abruptly stopped as she sensed a powerful presence coming at her. It was moving so fast, leaving her little ti to react.
Nevertheless, Maya was one of the strongest people in the city. She managed to twist her body slightly and raised her arm to block an attack.
At the sa ti, she saw the person coming toward her. It was a big, muscular man with a ripped shirt. He punched Maya, which she managed to block.
But the montum launched her toward a building, causing it to collapse on top of her.
"It looks like there is soone strong here. Hahahaha!" The muscular guy laughed. Several other people suddenly appeared on the rooftop, unleashing their attacks to bury her completely.
"We don’t have ti here." Another person appeared next to the muscular guy.
"I know!" The muscular guy grinned. He summoned his avatar, which turned out to be a werewolf. This avatar then turned translucent and started flowing into his body as if it were trying to rge.
His body was soon covered in a green-colored energy, like a layer of skin. However, this energy ford a pair of wolf’s ears on top of his head, and the energy around the hands and feet beca thicker, making him look like he had claws.
The other man was weaker than him, so he was unable to do the sa thing.
Maya ca out of the rubble with her avatar already standing next to her. Her avatar was like a human silhouette with long ears, similar to a rabbit’s. Its body was completely black with a few white dots, resembling the night sky.
Maya looked at the n surrounding her. There were not many reasons for them to be here. If they wanted to destroy the town, they would be better off sending their people to infiltrate the control room or sothing.
The fact that they ca here was rather obvious. Since she was still on the phone, she imdiately said, "Commander. It looks like they’re trying to force open the gate."
"!!!" The commander widened his eyes. The mayor stood up. "What? If they open the gate, the beasts will be coming straight in. Oh no..."
"This must be their plan to destroy the city. Check on the soldiers handling the gates!" The commander gritted his teeth. "Adjudicator Maya. Are you alright over there?"
anwhile, the operators were trying to contact the soldiers who were managing the gate and received no response.

"Shit." The commander hurriedly ordered, "Send a team to the gates imdiately!"
"It’s too late!" The operator panicked as she saw the red mark on the screen. "The north gate has been opened. The west gate... no, it’s open now!"
The commander realized how big a ss the city was currently in. "Adjudicator Maya. You need to stop them!"
"Well, I can’t split myself, so send soone else to handle the north gate. I will give you ten minutes to send the team here and close the gates."
The commander turned solemn. "Lightning Emperor!"
