When Lu Jia’er pushed the door open she saw Zhu Yu waiting in the room. While entering, Lu Jia’er apologized. “I am sorry for having kept you waiting. I got caught in a traffic jam on the way!”
“Professor Lu, we have only just arrived!” Zhu Yu stood up gracefully and greeted Lu Jia’er.
“Where is Captain Xu?” Lu Jia’er asked as she had not seen Xu Lei.
“He went to the bathroom!” Zhu Yu said just as Xu Lei just pushed the door open and entered.
“Professor Lu, here you are!” Xu Lei saw Lu Jia’er and his eyes gleamed with wonder.
Lu Jia’er turned around and looked at Xu Lei, who was tall and spirited, she couldn’t help but smile slightly at him. He was particularly manly in a police uniform. He must have been dashing and valiant in his military uniform.
“Have a seat, please!” Xu Lei greeted Lu Jia’er.
Lu Jia’er put down the bag in her hand and sat between Xu Lei and Zhu Yu. “Professor Lu, you are also one of us. I will stop being polite to you!” Xu Lei smiled and did away with formalities. He actually didn’t like the formalities adopted by officialdom, either. He had been a soldier for more than ten years and liked the simple and neat style of doing things.
On hearing his words, Lu Jia’er sensed that Xu Lei had invited her to dinner with a mission. She couldn’t help but raise her eyebrows. “One of you? Captain Xu, you are setting up bait, aren’t you?”
“Professor Lu, you’re so smart. It’s not a bait or trap.We want to officially hire you as the chief psychologist of the bureau!” Xu Lei explained the assignment Director Li had given him frankly.
“It’s indeed bait for me to rise to!” Lu Jia’er said with a sigh.
Director He, an old fox, had asked her to assist in this case with another purpose.
Xu Lei gazed at Lu Jia’er. Zhu Yu followed suit. “I was not talking about you!” explained Lu Jia’er.
“You were talking about Director He!” Xu Lei replied.
“How do you know?” Lu Jia’er slightly blinked.
“Director He informed me!” Xu Lei confessed honestly. “In fact, this time the bureau leadership have appointed me as a host to invite you to dinner, in order to entice you into accepting the offer with a handsome man!”
Zhu Yu, who was sitting beside them, had just taken a sip of juice instantly choked. Xu Lei and Lu Jiaer instantly focused their attention on her, and Lu Jia’er quickly handed several pieces of facial tissues to her.
Zhu Yu wiped her mouth and said, “Sorry, please continue your talk!”
Lu Jia’er glanced at Xu Lei, she couldn’t help but chuckle. “A handsome man? What a clever move by Director He!”
“Professor Lu, what do you think of it?” Xu Lei showed a smile on his masculine face.
“Do you mean the handsome man or the job offer?” Lu Jia’er smiled and asked.
“Both!” Xu Lei smiled and looked at Lu Jia’er.
Xu Lei was as straightforward as Lu Jia’er. Lu Jia’er promptly said, “I am very honored to have received this offer, but my energy is limited and I might be unable to shoulder this responsibility. By the way, I already have a boyfriend!”
