Ella POV;

Lunch was peaceful for about ten minutes.

And then—

The war started.

"So," Jason’s father said, setting down his fork. "We should start discussing which family the baby will inherit from."

I paused mid-bite.

Jason choked on his water. "Wait. What?"

My father scoffed. "What do you an which family? The child will obviously be a Kingsley."

Jason’s father narrowed his eyes. "Why would it be a Kingsley? My son is the father."

My father crossed his arms. "And my daughter is the mother. The baby should take her na."

Jason’s father leaned forward. "That’s not how it works. The child will be born into the King family. It should inherit our empire."

My father slamd his hand on the table. "Over my dead body."

Jason’s mother sighed. "Oh, no. Here we go."

Jason muttered, "Can I be excused?"

I kicked him under the table.

He flinched. "Ow! What was that for?"

"For getting pregnant."

"Ella, we were drugged!"

"Still your fault."

Mr. King pointed a dramatic finger at My Father.

"This child will be a King! I have already prepared an entire departnt for them in King’s Corp! They will be raised in my empire, trained to take over the business!"

My father scoffed. "And why would my grandchild be raised under your company? The Kingsley family has a much stronger foundation. Our influence is global. King’s Corp is only second to our empire."

Jason’s father gasped. "HOW DARE YOU—"

Jason’s mother pinched the bridge of her nose. "n."

Jason sighed. "Here we go again."

"IT’S MY GRANDCHILD."

"IT’S MY GRANDCHILD TOO."

"THEY WILL BE A KINGSLEY."

"NO, THEY WILL BE A KING."

I sighed, looking at Jason. "Are we even here?"

"I don’t think so."

We both turned to watch as our fathers continued to argue like two overgrown children fighting over a toy.

"I built my empire from the ground up!" Jason’s father yelled. "This baby deserves to inherit a na with aning!"

My father scoffed. "And who do you think funded half of your expansions? Our empire is older, more powerful, and has a stronger influence. The baby should be a Kingsley."

Jason’s father looked ready to throw hands.

Jason leaned over to . "Should we stop them?"

I popped a piece of chicken into my mouth. "Nah, let them fight it out."

"You two are acting ridiculous."

Jason’s mother’s voice cut through the argunt, and both n imdiately shut up.

She turned to . "Ella, darling. What do you think?"

I blinked. "?"

"Yes." She smiled. "Which na do you prefer? Kingsley or King?"

I hesitated.

Both my father and Jason’s father turned to stare at , their eyes burning with expectation.

Jason, the traitor, leaned back and smirked. "Yeah, sweetheart. Who wins?"

I narrowed my eyes at him.

This bastard.

He was enjoying this.

I sighed, placing my chopsticks down. "Well..."

The tension in the room tripled.

Jason looked too amused.

My father was holding his breath.

Jason’s father was gripping his fork like a weapon.

I slowly smirked.

"How about... both?"

Silence.

Jason blinked. "Huh?"

Jason’s mother clapped her hands. "Oh! A double surna?"

I nodded. "King-Kingsley. Or Kingsley-King. Whichever sounds better."

My father’s expression softened.

Jason’s father nodded. "Hmm... a compromise."

Jason laughed. "That’s actually smart."

I kicked him under the table again.

"Ow—DAMMIT, ELLA."

Jason’s mother giggled.

My father sighed dramatically. "Well... I suppose that’s fair."

Jason’s father nodded. "Fine. Kingsley-King, then."

Jason groaned. "Wait, why is Kingsley first?"

"Because I said so," my father replied smoothly.

Jason grumbled. "Unbelievable."

I smirked. Crisis averted.

Lunch continued with less fighting and more planning.

They already wanted to discuss nas, schools, and even inheritance divisions.

Jason looked at . "Do you think they’ll calm down before the baby is born?"

I scoffed. "Doubt it."

Jason sighed. "We should move to another country."

I smirked. "Only if you get more ice cream."

He chuckled. "Deal."

And just like that, the war was temporarily over.

But knowing our families?

This was only the beginning.

JASON’S POV:

If anyone told that announcing a pregnancy would turn my family into a reality show, I would have never believed them.

Until today.

My father-in-law and my actual father almost threw hands over our unborn child’s last na. My mother was pampering Ella like she was the Queen of England, and my own wife had kicked under the table twice.

And now?

I was officially the most irrelevant person in this house.

Ella, sitting on the couch, was still eating ice cream like she was a princess. anwhile, I was standing in the corner, completely ignored as our parents discussed baby nas, future schools, and business shares like the baby was due tomorrow.

"You know," I muttered, leaning toward Ella, "I think I should start a support group for ignored fathers."

She didn’t even look at .

Just took another spoonful of ice cream.

"Ella."

Silence.

"Babe."

Nothing.

I snatched the spoon from her hand.

"JASON!" she gasped, furious.

"Oh, so now you hear ?" I smirked.

She glared. "Give. It. Back."

"No."

Her nostrils flared. "Jason."

"Ella."

"You have two seconds to return that spoon before I—"

"Before you what?" I teased. "Throw the bowl at ?"

Her eyes narrowed.

Then—

She grabbed the entire bowl of ice cream and smashed it against my chest.

The cold.

The shock.

The utter betrayal.

"Oh, you little—"

"WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING?"

We froze.

Both of our parents were staring at us like we were unhinged.

Jason’s mother sighed. "I swear, it’s like raising two children instead of one grandchild."

Ella smirked at .

I gritted my teeth.

This woman.

After cleaning myself up (while Ella smugly enjoyed her replacent bowl of ice cream), we all sat in the living room.

I was ntally exhausted.

Why?

Because my entire family and my in-law had decided that today was the perfect day to gang up on .

Ella, on the other hand?

She was glowing with amusent.

I hated it.

Jason’s father cleared his throat. "Jason, as a man, you have responsibilities now."

I nodded. "Of course."

My father-in-law narrowed his eyes. "You say that, but are you truly treating my daughter as you should?"

I felt a headache incoming. "I—"

Jason’s mother scoffed. "You better not be neglecting her."

My father joined in. "Exactly. You’re about to be a father, Jason. You need to step up."

Step up?

Step up?

I was already stepping.

Ella was eating ice cream and enjoying life while I was getting verbally roasted.

My father-in-law suddenly clapped his hands together. "That’s it. We’ve decided."

I blinked. "Decided what?"

"You are going to do whatever it takes to keep Ella happy," he declared. "Every craving? Satisfied. Every mood swing? Handled. Every single thing she needs? You’ll provide."

Ella smirked, taking another spoonful of ice cream.

Oh, hell no.

Jason’s mother nodded in agreent. "That’s right. A happy wife ans a healthy baby."

Ella humd in agreent.

Jason’s father chuckled. "Boy, looks like you’re in for an interesting journey."

I turned to my own mother for help.

She just smiled sweetly. "Don’t look at . I fully support this."

I turned to my father.

He patted my shoulder. "Welco to fatherhood, son."

I turned to Ella.

She licked her spoon.

"Jason," she said, "I think I’d like so mango slices."

Oh, co on.

Jason’s father-in-law pointed at . "Well? What are you waiting for?"

I sighed. "I’ll get the damn mangoes."

Jason’s mother smiled brightly. "Good husband."

Ella giggled.

I dragged myself to the kitchen, defeated.

This was my life now.

And my wife was loving every second of it.
