Within a massive arena that seed to stand out among all the other infrastructures in the academy— thousands of students filled the spectator stands, each of their voices blending together to form a deafening roar that echoed through the colossal structure.
Above them, dozens of floating screens hovered in the air, displaying the nas and rankings of the top ten students from each hall and each year.
After that, the general ranking would also flash on the screen, having a more grander presentation than the others.
Multiple representatives from the various halls sat in their designated sections. Instructors, professors and the academy staff occupied the seats closest to the arena floor.
It almost seed like they were placed there intentionally, Incase anything were to end up going wrong.
Several influential figures from all around Oris also seed to be attendance, arriving to witness what might be one of the largest events to take place in Starlight Academy.
It was safe to say that the whole atmosphere was electric. Anyone could feel the excitent resounding within the massive structure.
Suddenly—
A powerful pressure engulfed the entire arena. The noise that had been echoing instantly vanished as they felt the crushing pressure that literally left so unable to breathe.
Students who had been chatting froze, turning their eyes towards the highest platform overlooking the arena.
A tall elderly man stood there quietly, hands placed behind his back.
His long silver hair flowed down his back like a gentle waterfall and his yellow eyes glowed brightly— as if it was capable of seeing through everything.
Then emblem of Starlight Academy was etched onto the right side of his dark and golden robe.
Each and every person in attendance stared at the figure of the man with recognition and utmost respect.
They all knew who he was.
Director Oreon Starweaver. The Director of Starlight Academy.
He slowly stepped forward and his calm voice echoed throughout the arena without the aid of any device.
"Good morning." He started. His voice wasn’t loud, and yet, every single person was able to hear him clearly.
A faint smile slowly ford on his face.
"First and foremost, I would like to welco all the students, instructors, professors, honored guests and distinguished officials in attendance today."
His gaze quietly swept across the entire arena.
"Thank you all for joining us for another Ranking event. For many of you, especially our first years— this will be nothing but another competition. A lot will disregard the impact this ranking event hopes to achieve—"
He paused, allowing his words to sink in to the students who listened attentively.
"But I urge you not to see it that way." His expression suddenly beca serious. "The ranking event is more than just a contest of strength— it is a asure of your growth, a reflection of your determination, and finally an opportunity... to show everyone— to show the academy, the results of your hard work."
His gaze lingered on the First year section briefly.
"Many of you arrived at Starlight Academy believing yourselves to be geniuses. Others arrived doubting whether you even belonged here at all. But today— today, none of that matters. The only thing that matters at this mont forward, is what you are capable of accomplishing."
The crowd remained completely silent as they listened to the Director speak. It wasn’t as if they were forced to. No.
They all knew, that each and every word being said, held its own weight.
"The rankings established today will influence your future. Not just within the academy, but outside as well." His gaze shifted towards were all the influencial figures were seated.
"Your rankings determine the resources that will be available to you, the opportunities offered to you, the instructors who may choose to ntor you, and also the expectations many, will place on your shoulders."
His voice remained serenely calm.
"But understand this— A low ranking doesn’t necessarily an failure and a high ranking does not always guarantee your success. What matters— is your willingness to continue climbing." His gaze sharpened. "To continue improving, to continue fighting and to continue proving that you deserve to stand among the best of the best."
Smiles began forming on the students faces. They could all feel that excitent that made their blood boil.
Even the instructors nodded slightly, acknowledging the Director’s words.
The Director’s expression softened once more.
"And of course, effort also deserves award." A small smile appeared on his face. "This year, the top three students from each academic year will receive special rewards from the academy."
Whispers instantly erupted in the arena. Special awards from the academy was no joke. Even so of the instructors exchanged chances to show how much of a privilege and how rare this actually was.
The Director raised a hand and the arena went quiet once more.
"As for what those rewards would be..." A mysterious smile appeared on his face. All ears in the arena perked up, awaiting to hear what these special rewards would be.
"Well, let’s just say you will have to earn the right to find out."
The students imdiately beca even more excited. So clenched their fists tightly, and others eyes brimd with a fresh type of determination.
The director nodded in satisfaction on seeing the reaction from the students. "Good. That is exactly the kind of spirit I expect to see from students who attend this Academy."
He spread his arms slightly. "So, give it your all. Fight with everything you have. Show us the results of all your efforts, and most importantly—"
His bright yellow eyes seed to shine even brighter.
"Make this a Ranking Event worthy of being rembered."
Cheers imdiately exploded in the arena.
"YEAHHHHHHH!!!!"
"LET’S GOOOOO!"
"I’M GETTING THAT REWARD, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!"
"FIRST PLACE IS MINE!"
The Director chuckled softly, then turned and began walking towards his seat.
Then his voice echoed once more.
"Now then— Let the Ranking events begin!"
