Now reading: Chapter 120: Leading the Champions League! from The Golden Striker: Barcelona’s Football King, a Action novel by Shadownarch.

The Etihad was a study in sonic contrast. The sky-blue ho stands were a mural of stunned silence - not the silence of a crowd that had accepted what happened, but the simring, resentful quiet of fifty-five thousand people replaying the match in their heads and finding no comfortable reading of it. Four goals conceded. A teenage striker who had scored one and manufactured two others. A two-goal lead overturned twice before being surrendered entirely. The Citizens were not a fanbase that took defeat quietly. Tonight they were too shell-shocked even for proper anger.

The away pocket was a pulsating riot of Blue and maroon, still going at full volu, the chant rising in waves that rolled across the empty upper tier and ca back down again.

"LORENZO! LORENZO! LORENZO!!"

In this era defined by the duopoly of ssi and Ronaldo, the travelling Barça faithful were becoming increasingly convinced that a third throne was under construction. Eleven La Liga goals in five matches. Four Champions League goals across two appearances. A national team decision that had given them a player who would lead both club and country into the next World Cup. The Sovereign's reign wasn't a projection any more. It was a present reality that three hours in a Manchester stadium had confird for anyone who had not yet believed it.

On the pitch, the City supporters closest to the dugouts were venting. So stood at the hoardings, directing their frustration at Pellegrini as he retreated toward the tunnel.

"Go back to Málaga, Manuel! This isn't good enough!" "Mansour! Stop buying the wrong players! Use the money to buy the kid!" "He's seventeen! Fifteen years of trophies! Pay whatever they want!"

The English fans, vocal and direct, were already demanding the transfer. Lorenzo was the missing piece they could see clearly - the striker whose presence would transform the Etihad project from expensive to inevitable.

Near the centre circle, the caras found the specific mont they had been waiting for. Agüero, weary and respectful, walked toward Lorenzo. ssi arrived a step behind, reading the situation.

"I know you didn't co here to swap with ," ssi said, with the slight smile of a man who knows exactly what is about to happen. "You already have a wardrobe full of mine at ho."

Agüero looked at him. "You're right, Leo."

He extended his hand to Lorenzo. They shook and then, under the flashing caras of the global press, exchanged shirts. The Manchester City Number 16 peeled off his sky-blue kit and the Barcelona Number 9 handed across his own.

"Honestly," Agüero said quietly as they pulled the jerseys over their heads, "I'm glad you chose Spain. But for the honour of the flag - if you had chosen Argentina, I would have been proud to play alongside you. You're a monster, kid."

Lorenzo nodded. He ant it. Agüero was not a man who said things he didn't an.

He knew, in the way that only he could know, sothing of the trajectory ahead for this player, the years at City, the title-winning monts, the brief and painful chapter at the end. For now, they were rivals at the peak of the European ga, and that was enough.

In the broadcast booth, Santiago and Inés were completing the night's broadcast.

"4-2!" Santiago said. "A decisive, complete victory for the Catalans. With Matchday 2 concluded, the Champions League scoring chart has a new leader - Lorenzo on four goals from two appearances, with ssi and Neymar both contributing tonight. The Group of Death has its dominant force."

Inés looked at the calendar. "The October gauntlet is just beginning. Six matches this month for Barcelona, including the Copa del Rey and a pivotal European fixture against Rafa Benítez's Napoli. Higuaín leads the Italian attack - he will be a different kind of test entirely. The group is far from settled."

In the visiting dressing room, Lorenzo sat at locker nine, Agüero's sky-blue kit draped around his shoulders. The room around him was noise - Alves in one corner, Neymar laughing at sothing on his phone, Busquets and Iniesta already in a quiet debrief about the defensive structure in the first half. Martino had said his piece and left them to it.

Lorenzo closed his eyes and let the system surface.

The Etihad lamp confirmation had already co through during the final minutes of the match - he had felt it when the equaliser went in. Now, in the quiet of the locker room, he turned to the chest.

Lorenzo considered the chest for a mont. Manchester City was a club built in two distinct eras, the mid-century heritage of Bell and Lee, rcer and Allison, the first title and the culture that had survived forty-four years of waiting. And the modern project: Abu Dhabi, Silva, Touré, Agüero. A club that had found its way to the summit of English football through the combination of extraordinary resources and in the right hands, genuine football intelligence.

"Open," he said.

The chest in his mind began to vibrate, emitting a sky-blue radiance.
