The stall owner shoved ten darts into Su Chen’s hands. At the sa ti, Su Chen heard the notification sound as Ling Shuyu scanned the code to pay the owner fifteen yuan.
"I can tell you really want to play," Ling Shuyu said with a very serious expression.
The people who had just finished watching the fun and were about to leave stopped in their tracks and gathered around again when they saw soone was about to start throwing darts.
Su Chen shot Ling Shuyu an exasperated look. "Was it that obvious?"
To be honest, he did want to play a little, but he was just too embarrassed.
Ling Shuyu didn’t say anything. She just folded her arms and calmly watched the board covered in balloons, her gaze occasionally sweeping over the stuffed doll sitting on the highest prize shelf.
’It’s not like he can hit all of them anyway... It’s fine just to look at it.’
The mood was set, so Su Chen didn’t waste any more words. He waved for the owner to step aside, casually picked up a dart, and threw it directly at the board four ters away!!!
POP!
Unsurprisingly, the first balloon exploded!
There were over twenty balloons on the board. The first few darts could usually hit a target with a casual throw. The real challenge ca later!
As Su Chen picked up the second dart, he had a strange feeling.
That last one had just been a casual toss, but after releasing it, Su Chen felt as if his throw hadn’t been random at all!
It was as if his body subconsciously knew that the spot he was aiming for was exactly where he wanted to hit!
So, holding the second dart, Su Chen didn’t rush to throw it. Instead, he tried to find that feeling again.
His behavior amused the onlookers.
"It’s only the second one. Just throw it casually. You can usually hit the first five."
"Sigh, see what I said earlier? Eight is the limit. I’m not lying to you, kiddo. It’s impossible to hit ten with this thing."
"The young man’s got a nice stance. It’d be embarrassing if he aid all that ti and missed!"
"He’s been aiming forever! Is he going to throw or not? The suspense is killing !"
Even Ling Shuyu felt a little... embarrassed.
She took a few small steps back, watching Su Chen aim left and right, his hand gesturing back and forth with the dart. She suddenly regretted letting him play.
’Hmm, if I stand back here, no one will think we ca together, right?’
’Still, why is this Boss Su taking a little ga so seriously? As if he could actually hit them all...’
POP!
Just as Ling Shuyu was grumbling to herself, Su Chen threw his second dart. Once again, without any surprise, a balloon burst open!
Although the result was expected, cheers still erupted from the crowd.
Su Chen held the third dart.
’So that’s it... This must be the effect of the achievent badge.’
’Fast, fierce, and accurate!’
POP!
This ti, Su Chen didn’t need to get into a special stance or make any practice motions. He just gripped the dart and threw it with a seemingly casual motion.
The third balloon burst!
’It’s like gutting a fish thousands of tis. Sotis, you don’t even need to look to know exactly where to cut into its belly.’
POP! POP! POP!
Imdiately after, with almost no pause, Su Chen threw one dart after another.
"That’s six! Six in a row!"
"Holy shit, this dude was sandbagging! What incredible skill!"
"He’s definitely practiced before. How is he so accurate? He just tosses it and it hits?"
"Hitting six is still easy enough with casual throws, okay? It only gets hard after this!"
Su Chen flexed his wrist slightly and continued throwing!
POP! POP! POP!
Another three in a row!
WHOA~
The crowd erupted in gasps of astonishnt!
That’s nine!
So far, this was the most anyone in the crowd had ever seen soone hit at one ti. Just one more, and he could take ho that 1.5-ter-tall super-sized doll!
Forget the crowd; even Ling Shuyu, who had backed away earlier, had crept back. Her face was a mask of calm, but her fists were clenched, her heart pounding with an inexplicable nervousness.
’Hit. It has to hit!’
The girl in the Lolita dress who had won a doll earlier pouted. "Look at him! And you said eight was the max! Isn’t that nine? You have to win another one! I want it, I want it!"
The young man beside her was sweating bullets. "He’s just lucky! The tenth one is impossible to hit. I hit it earlier, it just didn’t pop!"
Seeing his girlfriend was still unhappy, the young man raised his voice. "If he hits the last one, I’ll eat the dart!"
His words drew a wave of laughter from the crowd, and all eyes focused on Su Chen.
The tenth dart...
Su Chen took a deep breath.
The mont he threw a dart back in high school was still vivid in his mind.
His palms grew a little sweaty. Su Chen took a few steps back to give himself enough room to move.
He’d noticed from his previous throws that the balloons on the board were very elastic. They looked big, but they were probably only half-inflated.
Without enough force, a throw from this distance wouldn’t be able to pop them.
He took another deep breath.
His right arm whipped forward under the expectant gazes of the crowd.
POP!
"He hit it! He hit it!"
"Holy shit, incredible! He actually hit it?"
"What a beast! The owner’s gotta be crying now, haha. That doll must be worth at least a hundred, right?"
"That’s an authentic Lina! One this big has to be at least a thousand!"
"Eat the dart! Eat the dart!"
Ling Shuyu gave a small fist pump. He actually did it!
’In her entire life, this was the first ti she’d ever seen soone hit ten darts, and it was the person she was with! This is aweso!’
"See that? See? Honest business here, no tricks! Fifteen yuan for ten darts! Step right up if you want to play!"
The owner, his face ashen, called out to attract more custors while bringing over the super-sized doll. "Here. Give it to your girlfriend."
Su Chen opened his mouth to explain, but Ling Shuyu smoothly took the doll. "Let’s go."
The two of them walked through the crowd under envious stares. Ling Shuyu said nonchalantly, "They’re strangers. No need to explain."
"Oh..." ’This girl is seriously bold,’ Su Chen thought. ’Any other girl would probably be blushing beet-red by now.’
’But it’s cool!’
"Thank you for the doll," Ling Shuyu said, hugging the large doll with both arms. Her expression betrayed no joy or sorrow, but her actions showed she clearly loved it.
Su Chen just smiled and didn’t say anything. After all, she was the one who paid for it.
Back at the market entrance, Ling Shuyu turned her head and asked curiously, "Have you really practiced? How are you so accurate?"
Su Chen wanted to say he hadn’t practiced, that it was just good luck. But then he recalled that scene from high school and said coolly, "Not really. It was just a dart I threw when I was young, and it finally hit the target just now."
Watching Su Chen walk away with his hands in his pockets, a rare, dumbfounded look appeared on Ling Shuyu’s face.
’He can even act cool about this?’
’And pull it off so perfectly?’
After waiting at the entrance for about ten more minutes, Aunt Fang and Xiaobin finally arrived, laden with bags of all sizes.
"Oh, Brother Chen, where did you find this list of seasonings? They were so hard to buy! We had to go to several different shops just to find a few of them," Xiaobin said, panting.
Su Chen shrugged. "It might have been easier if I’d sent Xiaobai and the others, but they’re busy enough buying the seafood. Xiaobin, you take a taxi and bring these things back to the company first. I’ll take Aunt Fang to buy the rest."
Xiaobin obediently agreed, carrying the bags outside to hail a taxi by himself.
Su Chen then led Aunt Fang and Ling Shuyu through half the market to the area selling pork, beef, and lamb.
