The second half began with both sides changing ends, and the Swansea players returned to the pitch carrying fierce fighting spirit.

Lynn remained on the touchline, directing the match, while Houllier still sat on the Liverpool bench as steady as a mountain.

From the start of the second half, Liverpool's attacks crashed repeatedly against Swansea's defensive line like waves.

Cromwell was practically acting as a defensive midfielder in his own half, sweeping back and forth. The effect was not especially strong, but at the very least, he could delay Liverpool's attacking rhythm.

At Anfield, the Reds seed to have truly beco serious. They no longer looked down on Swansea. It could not be called full strength, but they had at least taken on the posture of a team ready to fight properly.

Heskey was not in good form today. Gerrard and Riise created chances for him with crosses from the flanks, but his headers kept drifting wide, and one excellent shooting opportunity was sent straight into Glendower's arms.

The match grew increasingly intense. Poulsen, Pedretti, and Gabbidon all picked up yellow cards one after another while defending.

Lynn was not panicking on the touchline. Swansea's biggest problem was that their transition from defense to attack was not ideal.

First, to suppress Liverpool's attacks, they had to commit more players to defense, and their formation was being pushed deep into their own half.

Once they won the ball, their players were packed too closely together. There were passing options, but almost none of them were safe. To avoid being counter-pressed and hit on the break, Swansea could only clear long. As a result, possession quickly returned to Liverpool.

Ibrahimović was almost freezing to death up front.

In the first fifteen minutes of the second half, he awkwardly recorded only one touch of the ball.

After the match passed the hour mark, Jas Cook began showing clear signs of fatigue.

In the 64th minute, in order to prevent Owen from getting opportunities inside the box and to deny him space to sprint into, several Swansea defenders crowded into the penalty area.

That ant the space outside the box beca much larger.

Previously, Grosso and Cook had tracked back to ensure the outside area would not be exploited by the opponent.

But in the 64th minute, Riise joined the attack from the flank. Instead of staying wide, he cut inside toward the central area. Gerrard, who had the ball on the right, suddenly passed it back into the middle to McAllister. McAllister then played it diagonally to Riise.

This completely unexpected developnt caught Swansea's defensive line off guard.

But no one dared step forward to close down Riise, afraid of losing their marking target nearby — especially Owen.

From thirty yards out, Riise unleashed a thunderous strike.

The ball was like a cannon shell fired from the barrel, blasting into the top-right corner of Swansea's goal!

Glendower flew across at full stretch, but still could not reach it.

After scoring, Riise broke into a surprised smile.

Sotis raw power really did create miracles!

On the touchline, Lynn remained expressionless and composed.

Swansea's players, however, looked heavy-faced.

The second half and the first half were almost two different matches!

The fighting power Liverpool had unleashed after the break was clearly much stronger than in the first half.

Swansea's players watched Liverpool run off to celebrate, and unwilling expressions appeared on their faces.

This was the power of giants!

A power that left them unable to fight back!

"Riise has completed the coback for Liverpool! The Norwegian cannon has opened fire on Swansea's goal!

"After failing to find openings inside the penalty area, Liverpool began looking for long-range chances outside the box, and this ti they succeeded!

"Swansea's packed defense could not hold out. They have gone from leading to trailing. The balance of victory is beginning to tilt toward the ho side, the Reds of Liverpool!"

Houllier smiled at this mont. Liverpool's coback did not surprise him. It was the natural result.

If a team ranked among the Premier League's top five in overall strength sent out its main lineup at ho and still could not crush a Division Three side, then the Premier League would not deserve to call itself England's top division!

Amid the roaring cheers, Lynn could still hear the Liverpool supporters behind him mocking him from the stands.

"Look, he really is one of our own! He ca to Anfield to gift us victory. In the second half, Swansea don't even look like they want to attack!"

"What can he do besides act cool?"

"Pick up won, drive sports cars, flaunt his wealth. Those are his specialties!"

"Heh, who told him to be rich?"

Lynn's ears twitched slightly, as though he wanted to close the gates of his hearing and sweep away all those grating words.

He was not angry at all.

Only a little helpless.

Right now, there was nothing he lacked except ti!

Facing Liverpool at such an unsuitable mont left Swansea with nothing but helplessness!

If things developed normally, even if every player in this Swansea squad fully matured, they might at most be on par with Liverpool.

But with the help of his card system, Lynn could first accelerate the players' growth, and second, improve the direction of their developnt, making them even stronger!

He believed that within five years, Swansea would possess terrifying combat power!

Unfortunately, he had only been coaching the club for three months.

Everything was still under construction, with only the first sprouts just beginning to erge. Swansea could shock the world in Division Three, but they still could not defy heaven itself!

Lynn lowered his head and smiled where no one could see.

He had never placed expectations on the League Cup in the first place. Besides, being eliminated from the League Cup would not affect Swansea's overall plan.

There was nothing he could not let go of.

But the match was not over yet.

He would not give up!

When he raised his head again, the smile had disappeared. Lynn turned and walked toward the substitutes' bench, calling three players up to warm up.

Three minutes later, Lynn used all three substitutions at once!

Standing by the touchline, Lynn patted each of the three players on the back one after another, then sent them onto the pitch.

"Wow, Swansea have actually made three changes at once!

"Eighteen-year-old Spanish forward David Villa replaces starting striker Ibrahimović, who scored Swansea's goal. Villa is averaging close to one goal per match in Division Three. He is a rising star. Can he rescue Swansea in this match? That will be fascinating to see.

"Another substitute coming on is Robert Badenberg. He has only made two substitute appearances in Division Three and has not shown anything outstanding yet. Who knows whether he can beco a surprise weapon today? He replaces Swansea captain Cromwell.

"The final substitute is nineteen-year-old German midfielder Hanno Balitsch. He replaces Jas Cook, who recorded an assist today.

"Two of these three substitutions are because Cromwell and Jas Cook have clearly run out of energy and can no longer keep up with the match tempo. Perhaps by the end of the season, Swansea may set a record: the player substituted off the most tis in one season might actually be their captain, Oliver Cromwell. In his past twelve starts, he has been taken off eleven tis!

"Now, while trailing, Swansea are finally making changes. Strengthening the forward line is a clear attacking signal!"

In Division Three, such substitutions might have given Lynn plenty of confidence.

But facing Liverpool today, they might be nothing more than a dying struggle.

Looking on the bright side, it was at least a chance to train the players.

Villa and Balitsch both had the Super Sub S-card on them. Perhaps it would produce a miraculous effect. Perhaps it would not.

Robert Badenberg, anwhile, was completely clean. He did not have a single card. But his specialty was speed. Originally, he was Villa's backup. When using a one-tall-one-fast forward pairing, Ibrahimović and Charisteas were both tall strikers. Against Liverpool today, counterattacking was obviously the main the, so Lynn had brought two fast forwards on the bench.

Now he sent them both on, hoping they might turn the match around.

When Houllier saw Swansea's substitutions, he turned to his assistant with disdain and said, "Amateur substitutions."

He felt that Lynn using all three changes at once while trailing was an impulsive decision.

In simple terms, amateurish!

Most managers would not easily use up all three substitutions, at least not without keeping sothing in reserve. Especially in a cup match, unless it was the final monts, a manager would not usually play his last card so early.

After Swansea's formation returned to 4-4-2, Liverpool still controlled the match. They even completely swallowed up midfield. The middle of the pitch had beco entirely the Reds' territory.

In the 72nd minute, Swansea defended successfully on the right. Berger's through ball toward Owen was intercepted by Gabbidon with a sliding block. Pedretti then rushed forward and cleared the ball long toward the front.

Badenberg imdiately sprinted forward. He looked very quick, directly shaking off Liverpool defensive midfielder Hamann. But centre-back Henchoz deliberately blocked Badenberg's running lane as he turned to chase the ball.

Badenberg curved left, intending to go around Henchoz, but Henchoz also shifted one step left while tracking back, forcing Badenberg to change direction again. That slowed him down.

Henchoz relied on his rich defensive experience to prevent Badenberg from using his speed advantage!

Henchoz reached the ball first, controlled it, and passed to Riise.

Liverpool continued their attack.

Five minutes later, Owen controlled the ball outside the penalty area. Under Pedretti's defense, he played it diagonally to Heskey, who had dropped back to receive.

Heskey played a wall pass with Owen.

Owen flashed into the penalty area like lightning, running past Brunel. A textbook one-two had succeeded!

The ball rolled across his path, and Owen shot first ti without taking a touch!

Glendower was already helpless.

But no one expected Owen's shot to hit the post and rebound out over the byline!

After the ball went out, Owen looked up to the sky and sighed, feeling deeply regretful.

On the touchline, Lynn stood with both hands on his hips, nervously watching the match.

Now Swansea's defensive line was hanging on bitterly. Liverpool might score again at any mont and extend their lead!

Swansea needed to seize any counterattacking chance they could get.

In the 82nd minute, Gerrard failed to break through on the right side of the attack!

This ti, Tobias Rau tid his tackle perfectly and stole the ball from Gerrard's feet, while also causing Gerrard to lose balance and fall in the challenge. Gerrard's complaint to the referee received no response.

After winning the ball, Tobias Rau looked up and observed the situation ahead. He carried the ball forward ten yards, and once Villa had moved into space, he sent a straight pass forward.

The ball rolled to Villa's feet.

Receiving with his back to goal, Villa felt soone closing in behind him.

It was Hyypiä!

Villa shaped as if he were going to pass sideways to Badenberg in the middle. As he lifted his foot and made the passing motion, Hyypiä raised his leg to block the passing lane, moving diagonally from behind into Villa's left side.

But what Hyypiä never expected was that Villa's lifted foot would drag the ball back behind him!

Hyypiä was shocked to discover the ball rolling past the right side of his body toward the space behind him. At the sa ti, Villa completed a nimble turn and surged forward.

After recovering his balance, Hyypiä reached out to grab Villa's shirt, but his hand caught nothing!

Villa's agility and speed left a deep impression on Hyypiä!

Villa pushed the ball forward, and it looked as though he was about to form a one-on-one.

But Carragher ca charging in from the front side with a fierce sliding tackle!

Villa was forced to change direction with his touch, cutting diagonally toward the center. But that touch was a little too heavy. Henchoz stepped forward and won the ball cleanly, then imdiately played a straight pass forward to Hamann.

Seeing that he had lost the ball, Villa gritted his teeth and imdiately turned back to counter-press!

On the touchline, Lynn closed his eyes in disappointnt.

Carragher's covering run into the center, combined with his understanding with his teammates, had been excellent. His sliding tackle was a "threat" to Villa, forcing Villa to change how he handled the ball. Then Henchoz chose the right mont to step in and win possession!

That kind of defensive coordination sounded simple, but for teammates to truly execute it at the highest level on the pitch was very difficult. The best representatives of that style were Italian teams.

Swansea's counterattacking chances were already rare.

This one had failed.

When would the next one co?

No one knew.

In the 86th minute, Balitsch fouled Berger near the flank in the defensive third, giving Liverpool a direct free kick.

Riise stepped up to take it.

Owen, Heskey, Gerrard, and McAllister were all tightly marked.

Unexpectedly, Hyypiä charged forward and headed the ball in at the near post!

"3-1! 3-1!

"Liverpool have killed the match!

"Hyypiä's header ans Swansea have completely lost any possibility of turning this around!

"The Swans will fall at Anfield!

"In terms of skill, experience, and depth, the Premier League giants Liverpool are still far superior. Although Swansea scored first, Liverpool did not lose their composure. They played steadily, denied Swansea any further clear chances, and scored three goals across both halves — with headers, shots, attacks inside the box, strikes from outside, and set pieces — to complete the coback!"

Lynn wiped the sweat from his forehead.

It was clearly already late autumn, yet he was sweating. Although he had not been exercising, emotional fluctuations could trigger physical reactions all the sa.

Lynn clapped toward the pitch, still encouraging his players not to give up!

Liverpool, anwhile, celebrated their goal.

It ant they would enter the League Cup quarterfinals, and from there, the final was not so far away.

Houllier glanced lightly at Lynn. He seed to regard this match as a lesson for Lynn, teaching him how to behave again.
