Chapter 407 - "They might try to harm Xuelu."
BOOM.
Bit by bit, Wen Rugui’s face turned beet red. But his eyes were bright when looking at Tong Xuelu and they were filled with joy.
So turning down other women would earn him reward. All the more he would not touch any other women in the future!
Tong Xuelu pulled away after a very gentle touch. She smiled and said, “Our restaurant took the first place. I will call you after we have our telephone installed.”
Wen Rugui’s look was tender. “Okay.”
Their restaurant was not big enough currently. They would either need to move to a new location or two rebuild at their current location if they were to update. Tong Xuelu wasn’t sure which it would be.
That would be decided by the merce Department after much deliberation. That being said, Tong Xuelu would receive her raise next month and that the phone would be installed next week.
With Tong Xuelu and Wen Rugui in the kitchen by themselves, mander Xiao worried that Tong Xuelu would be taken advantage of and he wanted to e and be the third wheel.
Old Mr. Wen, of course, was not going to let that happen. For the sake of meeting his great grandson sooner, he did anything within his power to stop mander Xiao. The two almost got into a fight.
Tong Xuelu and Wen Rugui exchanged a look and both looked helpless when they heard the ruckus from inside the kitchen.
Tong Xuelu was going to head home when the chiffon cake was done.
Wen Rugui wanted to take her home but he ran into interference.
mander Xiao said with a stern look. “We won’t be needing you. Xiao Yang is waiting for us outside and we will take her back in our car.”
There was disappointment in Wen Rugui’s eyes. But with the weather getting colder and colder, he was less disappointed when he realized that Tong Xuelu would be sheltered from the cold wind.
Seeing that, Old Mr. Wen was even more disgruntled toward the Old Stuck Up mander Xiao. He quickly came to his grandson’s assistance. “Rugui, looking at how little Xuelu was wearing. Hurry up and give her your jacket.”
Tong Xuelu, who had on a padded jacket. “……” But I am not cold at all.
Wen Rugui, getting goose bump from the way his grandfather was staring at him, removed his jacket.
Low and behold, mander Xiao interjected again. “There’s no need for that. I have a jacket as well. She can have mine!”
Old Mr. Wen pointed at his nose and shouted. “Your old man smell would bother Xuelu!”
mander Xiao, “……”
But Old Mr. Wen did not top there. The assault carried on. “Besides, you are no spring chick anymore. We don’t want you getting sick and Xuelu would have to take care of you!
“You are an half-ass grandfather who had never taken care of Xuelu and her siblings. And now you want to be a burden to them! How shameless of you to do that!”
mander Xiao, “……”
Tong Xuelu almost busted out laughing. Old Mr. Wen was so masterful with his words!
mander Xiao was speechless from Old Mr. Wen’s words and Old Mr. Wen could not be more placent. If only he had a tail, it certainly would be sticking straight up into the air.
Tong Xuelu finally took Wen Rugui’s jacket from him.
Wen Rugui walked them to the front door and only returned home longingly after mander Xiao and Tong Xuelu had gotten inside the car.
He told Old Mr. Wen about the Sun’s after he had returned home.
Old Mr. Wen’s face dropped immediately. “I can’t believe that girl was such a schemer! Now that you have mentioned it, she must already have an ulterior motive when she came and interviewed me!”
Wen Rugui nodded. “I worry that she and Sun Wuyang would target Xuelu.”
Now that they had lost their jobs, who knew if they would go berserk.
He spent most of his time at the base. If anything happened to Xuelu, he would not be able to get to her instantly.
He did not wish to see her harmed.
Old Mr. Wen thought about it some. “That makes sense. As long as those two are staying here, there’s always that chance. They just might do something to Xuelu one day.”
