Now reading: Chapter 850 - 8: Pure Faith from The Growth of a God, a Eastern novel by Lazy Zero.

From the wilderness to the mountains, from outside the city to inside, from the surface to underground...

Li Hao saw many details along the way that he initially overlooked.

This city ruin, built along the mountains and then destroyed, seed to be a true military fortress?

Besides the cannons and trenches seen at the beginning, a massive military construction was excavated beneath the mountains.

The enormous underground military base was divided into several layers, including command posts, rest rooms, storage rooms, ammunition depots, first aid stations, energy stations, and ventilation ducts.

This also explained another suspicion Li Hao had.

The creatures that built all this were actually living beneath the mountains for a long ti.

The ruins above were rely temporary shelters, which is why there were so few and appeared so crude.

At the sa ti, within this massive underground military base, Li Hao saw the world’s native inhabitants.

Or, more accurately, Li Hao saw the mutated remains of those native inhabitants.

The ubiquitous flesh and tissues were actually mutated and proliferated from these native remains.

So when Li Hao saw the remains, each one was enveloped in thick flesh, perfectly preserving the terror and struggle they experienced in life.

However, this was not the part that truly shocked Li Hao.

What truly stunned Li Hao was that these native inhabitants looked exactly like humans!

Throughout All Heavens and Myriad Realms, the humanoid form has never been the only evolutionary path.

Especially humanoid creatures with two eyes, a nose, and a mouth, were identical to humans on Earth.

Clearly, this was beyond being described as a coincidence.

Given the existence of the Heaven and Earth Profound Yellow Exquisite Treasure Pagoda and that Qi Refiner, Li Hao believed there must be a close connection.

"Perhaps... this world might have been created by the Tao Ancestor?"

"If the Tao Ancestor had indeed been to Earth, or if they were actually an Earth race..."

"While the possibility is small, it isn’t impossible."

"However, it is more plausible that the Qi Refiner created these native inhabitants."

These two possibilities alternated in Li Hao’s mind, fueling an even stronger curiosity about these natives.

"Huh?"

Right then, as Li Hao walked into the core area of the underground structure, he suddenly stopped.

In front of Li Hao stood a completely collapsed giant stone statue.

This enormous stone statue clashed with the entire underground structure, yet it seed inexplicably significant.

"Was this statue deliberately built at the center of the underground structure?"

"Or was this entire underground structure actually built around the statue?"

No matter how many years had passed, Li Hao could still feel the Power of Faith from this decrepit, collapsed statue.

Truth be told, this crumbling, fallen statue was not aesthetically pleasing.

Even by Li Hao’s standards, he could only reconstruct the statue’s originally abstract and rugged form.

It was a burly, mighty man.

However, due to the sculptor’s lack of skill, the statue appeared extrely abstract, with no muscle texture or detail.

On the other hand, the sculptor perfectly captured the man’s features.

Apart from his powerful physique, the most striking aspect of the statue was its fiery hair that looked like flas.

The relentless red color symbolizing defiance and struggle, that was the color of the man’s hair.

"Did he beco an object of faith after death, worshipped by others?"

Squatting down slowly, Li Hao gently touched the riddled stone statue at his feet, his eyes reflecting a faint admiration.

The Power of Faith lingering on the statue belonged to Saints and Heroes after their death, a pure form of faith.

If it were a living person or a God, the faith on the statue would beco their Source of Power, paving their way forward.

"Leave... there..."

Just as Li Hao intended to further explore the statue’s identity, a hoarse voice suddenly ca from behind him.

Turning around in slight surprise, Li Hao saw a headless female corpse wrapped in flesh.

The headless female corpse was kneeling before the statue, her skull long since reduced to bones on the ground.

But just as Li Hao reached out to touch the statue.

The flesh at the headless female corpse’s neck suddenly tamorphosed into a sharp, fanged mouth.

"Leave... there..."

Like a machine capable only of repeating this phrase, the flesh around the headless corpse beca agitated.

The next mont, tendons and muscles burst forth, transforming into tentacles that violently struck towards Li Hao’s position.

This wasn’t because the headless corpse had seen through the Xuanhuang Qi and detected Li Hao’s existence; rather, she would attack any existence attempting to approach the statue.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Tendon whips lashed through the air, instantly devouring the flesh on the surface into a hideous ss.

Unfortunately, the headless corpse could do no more than that.

Shrouded in Xuanhuang Qi, Li Hao was like an ethereal ghost, completely ignoring the whips of muscle.

The violent whips passed through Li Hao’s body, repeatedly slamming into the ground, causing the flesh within tens of ters to spasm violently.

More bizarrely, regardless of how the headless corpse thrashed and attacked, it never touched the ruined stone statue.

"Leave... there..."

The eerie voice continued its low chant, echoing like a curse within the underground structure.

Instantly, the headless corpse’s frenzy seed to disturb sothing even more bizarre, causing the entire underground space to tremble abruptly.

Rumble...

The fleshy surface undulated like waves.

In the blink of an eye, the waves of flesh were upon the headless corpse.

Thus began an even more brutal and heartless devournt.

The flesh enclosing the headless female corpse tightened once more, appearing as though they wanted to consu her like a Taotie.

As the headless corpse was about to be engulfed by the flesh, a dull explosion suddenly resonated from deep underground.

Boom!

It was only a muffled explosion, yet it managed to intimidate the infinite flesh.

As for the mastermind behind this occurrence?

Li Hao now gazed in shock at his feet, his eyes filled with disbelief.

"Nuclear explosion?"

"No, more accurately, it’s an atomic fission reaction similar to a nuclear explosion!"

"This fortification is actually a ’nuclear reactor’?"
