An Xiaxia walked back and forth anxiously as she held her breath and watched the video on her phone.
Sheng Yize began to sing to the music while performing difficult dance moves.
Every turn he took made An Xiaxia on edge.
However, he revealed no sign of pain on his face and there was not a single falter in his fluid dance steps.
He finished the song perfectly on the last note.
The room was filled with rounds of applause.
The rumor of his injury collapsed on its own.
His manager Lu Ke then handled the questions for him and Sheng Yize left the stage after some brief words.
When he got backstage, a yellow-haired young man whom he was well acquainted with patted him on the shoulder familiarly. “Hey, Yize, done with the press conference?”
Sheng Yize swayed a little and frowned, then nodded with a quiet “hm.”
Realizing something wasn’t right, the yellow-haired young man raised an eyebrow, but said nothing.
With so many ears around, things would only get more plicated should the news of his injury get around.
He sighed. “Have a good rest. You’re still young. Don’t push yourself too hard.”
Sheng Yize smiled. “It’s nothing.”
He had chosen this path himself. Hence, however painful or difficult things were, they were his responsibility.
The yellow-haired young man smacked his forehead. “I almost forgot. Security called me just then and asked me to tell you that Uncle Sheng is here. He’s waiting for you at the pany building’s side entrance…”

Sheng Yize changed into something light and took a detour to the side door, pletely ignoring the prickling pain of his wounds.
A Rolls-Royce was parked by the side of the road, looking quite out of place in this neighborhood.
Sheng Yize walked up to the car, got in, and nodded a cold greeting.
The stately middle-aged man turned to him, looking displeased. “What was this whole falling-into-a-river business?”
“Haven’t you investigated it?” replied Sheng Yize in a bland tone.
Sheng Zhiyuan smacked the newspaper in his hand angrily. “How many times do I have to tell you this: I didn’t give you permission to join this circle just so you can put yourself in danger!”
“I’ll take care of my own business.”
Sheng Zhiyuan calmed down a little after a pause. “I know you have held a grudge against me all these years… but I wasn’t the only one to be blamed for what happened then. Was I supposed to save a stranger and let you die?”
These words hit Sheng Yize’s most sensitive nerve and he sneered, “Did I ask you to save me? Do you get to decide whether or not I want to live?”
Sheng Zhiyuan fumed. “Did I raise you to offend me like this?!”
Sheng Yize darted him a look and got out of the car without even sparing him a reply.
He then climbed into his own RV. The driver asked tentatively, “Young Master, where are we going?”
It seemed forever before Sheng Yize gave him an answer. “Back to the An family home.”
“Yes.”
Watching the black Porsche drive away, Sheng Zhiyuan sighed heavily in his car.
After all these years, Sheng Yize still wouldn’t address him as “father.”
Was it really his fault back then?

An Xiaxia was overwhelmed with anxiety back at home and she even lost her appetite for dinner. Under the surprised gazes of Papa An and An Yibei, she put down her chopsticks. “I’m full. I’m gonna take a walk.”
Grabbing a jacket, she ran down the stairs several steps at a time. She was going to hail a taxi to take her to Endless Night.
Sheng Yize was such a burden on her mind!
She bumped into a pair of warm arms as soon as she opened the front door.
Sheng Yize’s low and lazy voice rang out above her head. “Short Legs Xia, since when can you run so fast?”
