“We only found traces left behind by that Demon King,” nesis repeated. “We never actually t her.”

“We didn’t see the Demon King either, but we found this...”

Yuancherin said as she pulled a small yellowed notebook from her backpack. “This is the Demon King’s diary. It records the secret of how she created this special space after her death.”

“What— the Demon King’s diary? Let see that...”

At those words, Vieya’s heart started pounding wildly. In three quick strides she was right beside Yuancherin.

Her beautiful erald-green eyes fixed motionlessly on Yuancherin, her expression clearly saying: If you don’t let see it, I’ll keep staring until you give in.

Yuancherin: “...”

“Forget it, let her look,” nesis said with a faint smile and a shake of her head, then glanced curiously at Vieya.

She hadn’t expected this Miss Cleric to be so interested in peeking into soone else’s diary.

“Sigh, you used to take a detour whenever you saw ,” Yuancherin teased with a sigh. “And now you’re the one coming over on your own... Here, take it. I don’t think anyone in Mount Aisa would dare forge the Demon King’s diary—it’s ninety-nine percent genuine. The kind that could sell for money.”

“Thanks...” Vieya took the worn diary, murmuring her thanks absentmindedly.

Yuancherin was surprised. She hadn’t expected the Cleric—whom she’d managed to offend hard on their very first eting—to actually say those two words to her.

Watching Vieya completely absorbed in the diary, she couldn’t help but click her tongue.

“Well, guess the sun’s rising from the west today.”

nesis spread her hands and stood up. “I’m going to wash my face.”

“Go ahead,” Yuancherin waved, resting her cheek in her palm in boredom before glancing at the white-haired girl across from her. “Standing there must be tiring. There’s an empty spot next to —co sit down if you want.”

“......” Vieya didn’t respond.

Just then, Luna and Liufir ca over. Luna looked briefly at the engrossed white-haired girl and didn’t pay it much mind, turning to Yuancherin.

“Ark and the others are still interrogating that mysterious man. The natives living in Mount Aisa were drawn away by the commotion when nesis’s group went looking for us, so we can rest for now.”

“It’s fine, Captain,” Yuancherin yawned. “I don’t feel sleepy at all right now.”

“Is that so?” Luna smiled slightly. “We only have four hours of rest ti. Once that’s over, we have to move again.”

“Four hours... then maybe I will nap a bit.” Yuancherin said, and without bothering about Vieya beside her, closed her eyes to rest.

“No eting, Captain?” Liufir asked softly.

Luna shook her head.

Seeing that, Liufir didn’t press further. She glanced once at Vieya, who was reading, and didn’t disturb her—just found a quiet place to sit.

Before long, Rania also walked in. Seeing everyone resting, she didn’t have the heart to make any noise and wake them.

The room returned to silence, filled only with the faint sound of breathing and the soft rustle of pages turning.

Vieya flipped through the diary with full concentration, not realizing that each ti she turned a page, the next one’s writing subtly changed.

“Today... is the sixth day since I died. My body will completely disintegrate tomorrow. I should be sad... but I safely gave birth to his child.”

“Eh? It’s an egg. So I’m an oviparous creature? I really want to see what my child looks like... but while I can still interfere with reality, I have to send her to a safe place.”

“That bastard actually struck ... Ugh, so this is how much a wound from the Holy Sword hurts? I don’t want to write this diary! I don’t! But I must...”

“Mhm~ I successfully sent the child away. I’m glad... I hope she grows up healthy and gets to see the beauty of this world.”

“I’m sorry, my child... I won’t be able to watch you grow.”

Vieya pressed her lips together and turned the next page.

“After today... I’ll probably die, right? But I still have to prepare a new body for that bastard. Ah, why do we do this to ourselves? A sandpiper and clam fighting, only for the fisherman to profit...”

“Ugh, my body’s so tired. I just want to sleep. I just want to eat...”

“Ti flies. But the bastard’s new body is finally ready. Mhm, super durable—this way, he won’t die as easily as a normal human anymore, right? You’d better live well. Live a hundred years, a thousand...”

“It’s gotten dark. His body still needs ti to mature before leaving. I have to prepare in advance.”

“What will he do without ? Knowing his personality... Ugh, no. I have to set up a few safeguards! He once told stories about the ‘Three Hidden Pouches’—then I’ll give him three too. I’ll carve them into his soul! Every ti he’s in danger, I’ll descend from the heavens like a goddess riding a rainbow cloud!”

“Sorry... I wanted to give you more—999 would’ve been best... but I can’t anymore.”

“The world’s growing dark and cold again. Death is terrifying... I don’t want to die...”

Smack!

Suddenly, Vieya’s shoulder was struck hard.

“!”

“Who’s there?!”

Vieya wiped her eyes and turned around, shouting angrily.

“Uh—s-sorry! I didn’t expect you wouldn’t notice at all...”

nesis apologized in embarrassnt, realizing she had gone too far. “I’ve been standing in front of you for a while... You really didn’t notice?”

“...You’re annoying. Don’t touch .”

Vieya frowned and looked around, trying to spot Flaviel—but she was nowhere to be seen.

“Eh... were you crying?” nesis asked carefully.

“I wasn’t crying. You—move!”

“Wait, where are you going? It’s dangerous outside!”

“......”

Their argunt woke Yuancherin and the others from their rest.

Seeing that Vieya had already run out and disappeared, Yuancherin frowned at nesis. “What did you do to her?”

“I didn’t do anything... I just startled her a bit,” nesis said gloomily. “Besides, she’s got guts—I didn’t think she’d burst into tears that easily.”

“What! You made her cry?” Yuancherin exclaid.

“Don’t slander ! I just want to know—what the hell was written in that diary? She looked completely entranced. I was waving my hand in front of her face forever, and she didn’t even blink.”

“The diary’s just about ordinary things,” Yuancherin said. “It’s mostly explanations about this space—like a simple ★ 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 ★ record. Who died which day, who went mad the next, and how a month later this place turned into the Town of the Mad.”

“That’s all?”

“If you don’t believe , ask the others. Captain Luna and Liufir read it too.”

“So what now? She took the diary with her, and she’s clearly not in a normal state...” nesis adjusted her hat and stomped lightly, resigned. “Fine, I’ll go look for her. Let the Captain know.”

With that, nesis turned and hurried in the direction Vieya had fled.

“Wait, I’ll go with you,” Rania said, stepping forward.

“M- too...” Liufir murmured.

Yuancherin cut her off imdiately. “No. You’re not strong enough. Let the two of them go. Honestly, causing trouble at a ti like this...”

“I’ll go tell the Captain and the others next door. You’re coming with —so you don’t rush out on impulse,” Yuancherin said, glancing back at Liufir.

Liufir: “......”

“By the way, what ti is it now?” Yuancherin suddenly asked.

“If our timing thod’s correct, it should be just about midnight,” Liufir thought for a mont, then added, “That ans we’ve been here almost four days now.”
