“Vieya, if you insist on leaving, then step over my body.”

nesis spread her arms, standing before Vieya, and said softly, “I won’t fight back.”

On the quiet path at night, that girl blocked the sli girl’s way.

Her figure was delicate, looking like a middle-schooler who would cry if pushed even slightly, yet the unwavering determination she showed was that of a seasoned veteran who had endured countless battles.

Vieya fell silent.

It was understandable that Rania had chased after her — she had planned to find her anyway.

But what she hadn’t expected was that nesis would co too.

Looking at the small girl before her, Vieya asked curiously, “You... care that much about my safety?”

“I don’t know... but if I let you leave now, and sothing really happens to you and you never co back, then I think I’ll start having nightmares not only in the second half of the night, but even in the first half too,” nesis said.

“Is that so... looks like I’ve been ignoring your feelings too much. You’re right — we are part of the sa team now, after all.”

Vieya smiled softly, her tone carrying apology. “nesis-sis, I really shouldn’t have lost my temper with you earlier.”

“...Then will you co back with ?” nesis, still wary of the sudden politeness from the white-haired girl before her, asked cautiously.

Soone who could act like this was clearly a stubborn child who’d been that way since birth.

And such a person wouldn’t give up her stubbornness just because of a few kind words.

“Let’s talk when we get back.” nesis, now also noticing the strange shift in the world around them, spoke with an unintentional trace of urgency.

“Sorry, nesis-sis, for making you worry.”

“!!!”

Suddenly pulled into a hug by the sli girl, nesis froze, her face turning red and white in turns. She stamred, flustered, “You... what are you doing? Let go of !”

“I can’t.” Vieya sighed. “Unless you promise not to block my way again, I won’t let go.”

“How can you be like this!”

nesis’s small face flushed scarlet, and she shouted as if resigning herself to sothing, “Then go ahead and hold like this! When Captain Luna and the others find us, we’ll all work together to tie you up and drag you back!”

Vieya: ...

How ruthless.

Looks like this thod won’t work after all... as expected, this sli body really lacks any charm — what a disappointnt.

Suddenly, soone grabbed Vieya by the back of her collar and lifted her up. Startled, she found herself pulled away from nesis.

“Vieya, doing things like that will only cause misunderstanding and trouble for others.” Rania, holding the sli girl by the clothes, said evenly, “You have a child now. You’re an adult. You should show a bit more maturity.”

Seeing Vieya pulled away, nesis exhaled in relief — though a tiny hint of loss followed.

Secretly, she glanced at Vieya, who was being restrained by the Hero, and thought to herself: So her body is really that soft... unbelievably soft, like a pillow.

You rebellious disciple!

Let go of your master right now!

Vieya gritted her teeth inwardly and twisted her body, stretching out her hands in retaliation, flailing like an enraged lion.

Rania, apparently feeling her blood pressure spike, looked slightly irritated and slapped the sli girl’s butt.

Slap!

Vieya: “......”

Rania: “......”

The world fell into silence.

That crisp sound left nesis staring wide-eyed. Watching the frozen expression on Vieya’s face, she nearly burst out laughing but barely managed to hold it in.

“You—you—you!”

Vieya finally ca to her senses, too furious to speak properly. Her beautiful erald eyes blazed like fire as she glared at Rania in ➤ NоvеⅠight ➤ (Read more on our source) rage.

“So that’s how you treat ?”

I’ve misjudged you! You rebellious disciple! Traitor!

“......” Rania flexed her fingers, the startling elasticity making her montarily lose focus. She averted her gaze from Vieya’s furious glare and said, “Sorry. But let’s go back first.”

Vieya’s eyes widened in indignation.

Rania raised her right hand as if in warning. Once soone crossed that first threshold, the hardest one, the second and third tis ca easily.

Especially when the one before her was this cunning white-haired nace.

Before acting, she’d hesitated, worried — but now that she’d acted once, there was nothing left to fear.

“Vieya, I don’t know what you went through in the past, or what secrets you’re hiding. But none of that matters. I saw your daughter in the city. She asked to bring you back safely.”

Rania said, looking softly at the white-haired girl, “I gave her my word. I’m a Hero — and your friend, even if you don’t want to acknowledge that. It’s fine if you don’t. But I made a promise to your daughter, and I’ll do everything I can to keep it.”

“I...”

All the anger drained from Vieya’s body like air leaking from a punctured pufferfish. She opened her mouth, but couldn’t find any words.

What could she even say? That her wife suddenly disappeared, and she had to find her?

What, you ask what my wife looks like? Why can only I see her?

Because my wife was the Demon King. She died three years ago.

Mount Aisa is her grave. Her soul, bound by resentnt, regret, and lingering attachnt to this world, remains trapped there like a spirit tied to the earth.

So... only I can see her. Even if she vanishes again, only I will notice.

Vieya couldn’t explain any of that. She just stood there, clutching the yellowed diary in her arms, looking down like a guilty child who didn’t know what to do.

“Let’s go. Everything that happened here is just an old problem from three years ago, exploited by people with ulterior motives.” Rania sighed. “The past should stay in the past. Don’t wait until you’ve lost everything to regret it. You still have people who care about you, waiting outside. Don’t make them sad.”

She wasn’t sure if that last part was ant for Vieya — or for herself.

Her words, light as air, were swept away by the night wind, vanishing into the darkness.

Seeing Vieya’s lost expression, nesis felt a pang of sympathy.

“If there’s really sothing you must do, you can tell us. We can all help you figure it out. Captain Luna is very kind and understanding...” After saying this, nesis exhaled in relief.

But she had forgotten — so things could never be spoken, just like how she once believed it was her own bad decision that led thousands of her comrades into hell.

Mutual understanding was always difficult, just as the great Tower of Babel had collapsed over human miscommunication.

“I’m fine, really. I just wanted to get so fresh air.”

Vieya suddenly smiled, apologetically. “Sorry for worrying you both. Let’s go back together...”

With that, Vieya said no more. Head lowered, she turned and began walking back the way they ca. nesis hurried to follow, afraid of another accident.

Rania didn’t move imdiately. She stood where she was, her brow furrowed.

“What exactly was written in that notebook?”
