At the banquet.

After the lofty speeches, mutual flattery, and glorious prospects for the future, the vampires finally took their seats. Several of them, already drunk, wandered over to harass the only human at the feast.

But once the little vampire girl who served as the Queen’s bootlicker ca over to issue a few warnings and pass along “Her Majesty’s kind intentions,” the others wisely stopped bothering Vieya.

When things finally quieted down—

The little vampire didn’t return to her Queen’s side. Instead, she pointed at Helcat and ordered,

“You big-breasted woman, go play with mud sowhere else! The Queen’s blood servant isn’t soone you can touch!”

In truth, Helcat’s chest wasn’t that big—just right for an adult woman.

But to the short little vampire Laisa, it was huge.

She hated tall people. She hated won with bigger chests than hers.

The Vampire Queen fit that logic of hatred perfectly, but Laisa didn’t dare resent her.

So she poured all that pent-up hatred onto the easiest target before her—this “big-breasted woman” who looked so easy to bully.

After all, she was acting under the Queen’s command to drive away those blood-hungry vampires!

Even though Laisa was the lowest-ranked A-class vampire at the banquet, the thought of carrying out the Queen’s will made her puff out her chest with pride as she said,

“I told you to stay away from her—are you deaf?”

“......”

Helcat’s eyes filled with fury. If she’d been a cat, she’d have already triggered her spiked-back dragon form from stress. But she held herself back.

Partly because the main show of the banquet, Hero in a Cage, hadn’t yet begun—they were here to rescue soone from the execution ground, not to walk into a trap.

And partly because her cheap master, Vieya, was calmly eating and drinking beside her, acting as if Helcat’s life or death had nothing to do with her. That made Helcat feel a little wronged, a little hurt.

“Big-breasted woman, even if you look at her, she won’t help you! Hehe.” Laisa was smug and composed.

She believed that the golden-haired girl’s hatred of vampires ant she would never help one.

But she didn’t care whether Vieya hated her or not—Her Majesty would surely ta her in the end.

Laisa herself had grown up surrounded by luxury. Her noble parents doted on her endlessly.

In her family, she could call the wind and summon the rain—whatever she wanted, soone would rush to provide it.

From childhood she’d basked in that sense of superiority, of being held aloft in others’ palms.

But at the age of nine, she fell ill and died.

She was laid out cold on the board, ready for the funeral feast.

Then her father sohow obtained a single drop of blood—one that brought her back to life. Not only resurrected her, but cured her illness completely!

Her body stopped aging at nine, but in every other way she rose higher and higher. She could eat, sleep, and her physical abilities improved day by day.

Later, her remarkable talent earned her the Vampire Queen’s favor, and her arrogant nature beca even harder to restrain.

Her life had been smooth sailing—aside from the Queen and her parents, she looked down on everyone.

Yet Laisa always felt that sothing was missing from her undead life.

But what exactly was missing?

She didn’t know—until the mont the golden-haired girl struck her down with a single finger, forcing her to her knees. In that bone-deep terror and pain, Laisa felt her brain grow strangely alert, her ability to regulate pain and awareness sharpening.

That “stress response” gradually turned her pain into a source of pleasure greater than feeding on blood!

From then on—

Laisa craved more of that malice, more of that physical tornt. The more the golden-haired girl hated her, the better. So go on—hurt ! Please!

She slowly approached Vieya, who was quietly eating. Laisa stared at her graceful, orderly movents; at those gem-green eyes beautiful yet devoid of emotion; at that milk-white skin and the golden hair as smooth as silk.

This... must be what an angel looks like.

And I, this filthy vampire... hehe, I want her to treat roughly, to scold , to whip ! I want it, I # Nоvеlight # want it so badly...

Unable to restrain herself, Laisa smiled sickly and laid her paper-pale hand on Vieya’s knee.

As she expected—

Vieya rely stopped cutting her cake. She didn’t even spare her a glance, her voice cold and devoid of warmth.

“Get away from .”

“Hehe, this is vampire territory. If you behave yourself, maybe Her Majesty will show rcy—and let that little companion of yours go free~?”

“......”

Vieya didn’t answer. She only felt that this vampire was insufferably annoying.

Like a big sumr mosquito buzzing around your ears, making you want to grab bug spray and end it in one shot.

But this particular mosquito was a hybrid breed—highly resistant, ridiculously hard to kill. You slap it flat with satisfaction, but when you turn around, it’s alive again—and it’s decided to follow you forever, sucking your blood for life!

That’s exactly how Vieya felt right now—her patience stretched thin as the little vampire pawed at her leg, testing her limits.

“Big-breasted woman, what are you staring at! Hehe, do you want to end up like too?” Laisa giggled, her hand growing bolder.

“Hehe, I heard those blood fledglings calling you Wei. At first they played dumb and wouldn’t tell , so I just used a little—”

Bang!

A deafening crash.

Every vampire at the banquet froze. So had been savoring blood, so dancing with partners, so chatting and laughing.

Now they all stopped and turned to look at the little vampire girl who had been kicked clear across the hall.

The eyes of the vampires grew dangerous. To them, this human had no sense of her place. Did she think being chosen as the Queen’s blood servant gave her the right to trample the dignity of vampirekind? To dare strike one during such an important feast?

Even Helcat was stunned. She hadn’t expected Vieya, calmly eating just a mont ago, to suddenly lose her temper.

At the sa ti, she felt secretly relieved. Back ho, there had been several tis she’d skipped her own cat bed to crawl into Vieya’s.

Thinking of that now—she realized how lucky she’d been not to get kicked to death back then.

“Cough... cough...”

Laisa climbed up from the floor, clutching her chest. “Don’t worry about . A re human attack is nothing more than a scratch to ... hehe, everyone, carry on!”

At that mont—

The Vampire Queen Elizabeth seed to awaken from her doze. She glanced toward Vieya, then withdrew her gaze and spoke with calm authority.

“The ti has co. Laisa, take a few kin and bring the Hero here. Make sure to take proper precautions—don’t let the Hero misunderstand our intentions.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

Laisa bowed toward the throne, then led several vampires past Vieya with asured steps.

As if the earlier farce had never happened.

After that, the rest of the vampires lost all desire to dance. They each found seats far away from Vieya, waiting expectantly for the upcoming Hero’s Blood Banquet.

In an instant, an empty ring ford around her, making her seem like an outcast.

Helcat winked at her, then quietly scooted farther away too.

Before her master chose to reveal her hand, she couldn’t afford to expose her identity first.

But then—

The Vampire Queen, who had been drowsy since the start of the banquet, stood up.

Under countless gazes, she surveyed the hall, and at last her eyes locked onto Vieya’s. Their gazes t.

?

What’s this about?

Vieya tensed. Was she going to stand up for her underling? Planning to suck my blood here and now?

Or... had she finally discovered my true identity?

“Fellow kin,” Elizabeth said, “there is another reason I chose to personally attend this banquet—aside from eting the Hero.”

With that, she stepped forward, walking straight toward Vieya with a faint smile.

“......” Helcat’s heart jumped to her throat. She was strong, yes—but she couldn’t possibly fight a Demon King, especially not on the Demon King’s own turf.

All she could do was pin her hopes on her unreliable master.

Tap.

Golden heels stopped in front of Vieya. The Queen extended a friendly hand, intending to shake.

“Human,” she said gently, “perhaps you have so misunderstandings about our kind. But I hope that tonight, we can set aside our prejudices and share this feast together.”

“Moreover, if you truly wish to take away those poor girls you ntioned, I may grant your request—once the banquet is over.”

At those words—

Not only the vampires, but even Vieya herself froze.

Is this appeasent? Or a hidden sche?

She had to stay on guard. Still, after a pause, she extended her right hand and clasped Elizabeth’s.

Elizabeth wore black lace gloves—thin, delicate. She smiled softly.

A faint scent of pogranate lingered around Vieya’s nose.

Then—

Vieya frowned slightly, looking up at the veiled Queen.

She felt... sothing in their joined hands.

Sothing small and hard—sothing Elizabeth had already concealed in her palm before the handshake, now passed quietly to Vieya.

She didn’t move, only felt it with her fingers.

A key.

tal, small, patterned.

The texture was familiar.

Vieya closed her hand around it and withdrew.

“Human,” Elizabeth said calmly,

“I hope that next ti we et, we won’t be enemies.”
