“Got them.”

Before pulling out his blood blades, Veneto twisted them slightly, shredding through the two bodies that had been strung together on his twin crimson blades like candied hawthorn skewers.

The motion was fluid as water—executed in less than a second.

A single strike, then retreat.

Veneto leapt back sharply, narrowly evading the massive curtain of holy light that descended from above.

As he jumped back, he also restored the blades to their normal length.

That was sothing every high-ranking vampire could do—rge their own blood into their weapons.

At critical monts, they could extend the blade’s reach by consuming blood, and once the blade struck the enemy, the blood inside could be detonated to cause a second internal destruction, churning every organ in the victim’s body into pulp.

Veneto was certain—if the target was human, there was no chance of survival after that strike.

Heh. With such a wound, unless soone could cast a forbidden spell like “Resurrection of the Dead,” there was no saving them.

“Father Marlé!”

After a brief freeze, the other priests broke into cries of anguish, rushing forward to lift the priest whose eyes had gone dim. Healing spells poured out one after another onto Father Marlé’s body.

But even the highest-grade healing spells couldn’t counteract the “healing ban” engraved on Veneto’s blood blades—let alone pull back a man whose insides had been turned to sludge from the hands of Death itself.

“Haa...”

Lilian took a deep breath, fingers curling into a tight fist.

Maybe the long, peaceful years of nunhood within the city had dulled her combat instincts...

Or maybe it was her deep-rooted complacency and detachnt that stopped her from fighting with her full hundred percent—

By the ti she realized Veneto’s intent, it was already too late.

A golden barrier rose again.

This ti, instead of forming a ring to protect, it enclosed the vampire inside like a cage.

Veneto tapped the barrier’s edge with his blade, then crouched slowly on the ground, going completely still.

It was as if his only goal had been to kill those two people—and beyond that, nothing else mattered.

Lilian had no mind to deal with the caged vampire for now. After checking the priest’s chest and finding no heartbeat, she silently stood and turned toward the lting sli monster nearby.

“Sli...”

She touched the faint-blue gel. It had the sa composition as wild slis—but this piece... was dissolving.

A white pearl rested in the center of the sli.

A monster core.

She hesitated for a mont, then carefully picked up the pearl and examined it.

Could this be the core of that fake Vieya?

The pearl was covered with scratches, its sheen dim and exhausted... it looked like an overworked corporate slave.

“The consciousness isn’t damaged yet. So level of intelligence remains. This feels like a high-tier deep-sea creature... Where did Vieya get sothing like this?”

“And why did she go to such lengths to avoid everyone’s eyes? And... where did she go?”

Suddenly she froze, whispering to herself,

“Could it be she’s found Rania’s trail?”

...

Blood Pool.

“Your two dear companions ca to rescue you. Don’t you have anything to say?”

Elizabeth stood at the edge, looking down at Rania who was subrged in the pool’s center, speaking idly to herself.

“Not long ago, sothing big happened at Mount Aisa. A group of adventurers clashed with the organization known as [Ghost]. Not only did the Demon King of Ti appear again, but they even found the long-lost Holy Sword.”

“It’s fine if you don’t speak.”

Elizabeth paused briefly before continuing,

“I know that sword was taken away—and its new wielder is among those two, isn’t she? Look—”

She lifted her hand.

Bats fluttered forward and ford an image before them: the chaotic banquet hall.

A group of vampires were trying to stop Vieya and her companions from seizing the purple-haired girl trapped inside the iron cage.

Elizabeth smiled as she looked at Rania floating in the blood pool.

“Hehe. My acting isn’t bad, right? They all think I’m you.”

“You bastard!”

Rania’s eyes burned with fury.

The powerful scythe forming in her hands shattered like bubbles after just a mont, and blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.

Elizabeth chuckled.

“This blood pool can suppress every Hero except your teacher. But your teacher’s age... has already passed.”

“Hehe. I never thought that among our Seven Demon Kings, the youngest one would be so dazzlingly talented—and her ambition far beyond the rest of us.”

“In your teacher’s era, whether righteous or evil, everyone chose to lie low and avoid her edge. After all, no matter how powerful humans are, they live barely a hundred years.”

“But that Demon King of ours was bold. Not only did she refuse to hide—she even approached your teacher on her own. Hehe... and you know how that ended. I rather admire her.”

“You bastard!” Rania shouted, trembling with rage.

“You vile monsters... One day, I’ll wipe every last one of you from existence!”

“What your teacher couldn’t do, neither can you.”

Elizabeth shook her head with a faint smile.

“But I’m quite looking forward to seeing you infiltrate that new swordmaster’s side. You care about her deeply, don’t you? I’m curious about her too.”

“Demon King! I’ll kill you!”

Rania’s chest heaved violently as she tried again and again to invoke her Heroic Power—but each attempt was forcibly nullified.

Splurt!

She vomited blood in great mouthfuls. Her face went white as plaster, yet her eyes still burned with hatred at Elizabeth.

That killing intent cut straight through the heart, like a blizzard in the height of sumr.

“Good. That expression—I’ll rember it. And I’ll learn it...”

Elizabeth smiled faintly.

“And with everything I learn from you, I’ll gain the trust of everyone around you.”

“Struggle a little longer in this blood pool, won’t you? Hehe. I won’t let you die. After all, you’re... my teacher, too~”

With a soft laugh,

Elizabeth dissolved into a flurry of bats, wings flapping as they scattered in every direction—

vanishing into the marrow-deep darkness.

“I’ll kill you... I swear...” Rania whispered hoarsely.

Rumble—

The heavy black iron door slamd shut again, cutting off the violet gleam of Rania’s eyes.

...

The Banquet.

Utter chaos.

Helcat had transford into a giant cat nearly five ters tall.

With one sweep of her paw, she sent a dozen vampires flying!

“ow! There’re too many of these vampires! Let’s just break open the cage and grab the brat Hero already!”

“No! The cage has a special blood contract. If we damage it, Rania will get hurt. And she’s already in bad shape—if her foundation gets wrecked, she’s done for!”

“Then where’s the key?”

Helcat circled the cage, swatting away any vampire that dared to approach.

Key! Key!

Vieya suddenly rembered the key Elizabeth had given her.

She hurriedly fished it out of her pocket and, on impulse, shoved it into the lock.

Click!

“It opened!”

Vieya’s eyes lit up. She snatched the unconscious Rania from inside, while the black cat hooked her tail around Vieya and tossed her onto her back.

The black cat said, “Hold tight! We’re breaking out!”

Vieya, holding the fainted Rania in one arm, gripped Helcat’s fur tightly with the other and nodded hard.

Boom!

Helcat’s tail lashed out, sending another wave of vampires flying.

“Stop them! Don’t let them escape!” the vampires scread—but without their Queen present, they couldn’t stop the enormous black cat.

In the midst of the blood-scented chaos, the black cat rampaged like a storm—tail sweeping, ❖ Nоvеl𝚒ght ❖ (Exclusive on Nоvеl𝚒ght) claws slashing!

Everywhere she passed, vampires were sent soaring into the air one after another.

Before long, no one dared to charge her again.

They could only watch helplessly as the giant cat smashed through the staircase and disappeared into the dark.

The banquet hall lay in ruins.

The remaining vampires exchanged uneasy glances—until one of them shouted,

“Lockdown!”

“Seal the entire fortress!”

“Right, where is Her Majesty the Queen?!”

asked a vampire who had just been slapped so hard earlier that half his body was missing.
