“Help? ?”
Xiao Lü froze, pointing at her own cheek, staring blankly at the white-haired girl opposite her with disbelief written all over her face.
What right did she have to help the one hailed as the strongest Hero in history?
I’m just a cara, okay.
Most of the ti, aside from tattling, all she could do was float around like a ghost, secretly peeking at human lives—after all, not everyone could even see her.
“Brother Ye... pft, I an, Sister Ye!”
Xiao Lü squeezed her eyes shut tight, then opened them again, speaking seriously: “Tell what to do. If it’s within my ability, I’ll definitely do it!”
“It’s not that serious. And you can call the sa as before.”
Vieya sighed helplessly. She didn’t care much about titles anymore, as long as no one insulted her. “I want you to help find out if there are any physicians who specialize in treating monster girls.”
“Treating monster girls?”
Suspicion filled Xiao Lü’s gaze, but Vieya only spread her hands, unbothered, letting her look as much as she pleased.
White hair, green eyes. Her face looked like that of a sixteen-year-old human girl in bloom, but her body was far more developed, and she bore not a single trace of monster features...
If not for her human-like ears, Xiao Lü might have suspected that Vieya had used so secret art to turn herself into one of the rumored elves.
So strange. Just what happened back then?
That turned Brother Ye into Sister Ye—and whenever she asked, Sister Ye deliberately avoided the subject.
Suppressing the curiosity that welled up in her, Xiao Lü asked thoughtfully:
“By the way, I know you’re not human now, but if you’re a monster girl... shouldn’t your body have at least so monster traits? Like cat ears, ram horns, pointed ears... But Sister Ye, your appearance is almost completely human?”
“And also, does your body have so kind of problem now? That you’d need a physician who specializes in treating monster girls?”
“A problem? Of course there is...”
Vieya wanted to laugh it off, to speak of a grave issue as if it were nothing, like so kind of invincible hero.
But she couldn’t laugh. And she didn’t have the spare emotion to play at bitterness either. She only rubbed her stiff cheek, speaking with an awkward, unnatural tone:
“This body of mine... the Demon King tampered with it. Sotis, even I feel it’s unfamiliar... Anyway, is there a reliable physician?”
“The Demon King! Always the Demon King!” Xiao Lü stamped her foot angrily, agitated. “That bastard is dead and still manages to cause trouble! Seriously!”
“Don’t talk like that, Xiao Lü.”
“Huh—?”
Xiao Lü suddenly froze, staring at Vieya in disbelief, as if to say, I think you really are sick in the head!
“A physician for monster girls? Of course there are! I’ll find several for you right away, and tomorrow when Sister Red logs on I’ll ask her to help too!
We’ll look, we’ll look hard!
I refuse to believe that in all of humanity, we can’t find soone to treat a monster girl’s brain!” Xiao Lü snapped furiously.
You little—was that a roundabout way of saying I’m ntally ill?!
Vieya’s breath caught, and she shouted angrily:
“Xiao Lü!”
Boom!
A loud crash.
The Tribunal’s monitoring room door was kicked open, and the violet-haired Hero rushed in with a squad of knights.
Inside the dim room, walls lined with screens flickering static, the staff on duty lay sprawled unconscious all over the floor.
One knight crouched, checking each for breath.
“Report to Hero-sama! They’re still breathing.”
“Is °• N 𝑜 v 𝑒 l i g h t •° anything missing?” Rania rubbed at the bridge of her nose. “Check the image stones that record the footage.”
“Report! All normal! Nothing lost.”
“......”
Rania fell silent. To be honest, detective work wasn’t her strong suit. She was far better at using the blade in her hand to drive a point ho than picking apart threads of evidence to divine the enemy’s intentions.
“If there’s nothing to find, then call in the dical unit, wake these unconscious people up, and ask them what happened here.” Rania sighed softly.
With no clues, there was no other choice.
“Oh, and contact the other knight squads patrolling under lockdown for intruders,” Rania added, staring at the snow-filled screens. Her voice dropped low: “Ask them about their progress.”
“At once!”
The Tribunal knights split their tasks: so stayed with Rania in the monitoring room, so went for dics, so went to reach other teams.
But just as those hurrying knights reached the doorway, they suddenly stopped.
“?”
Rania’s vigilance spiked. She summoned her weapon and strode forward. She’d see what new monstrosity had shown up this ti.
Then she froze too.
Her eyes widened as she exclaid:
“Shiyu-senpai, so you weren’t kidnapped after all?”
“Ehehe!”
Unexpectedly, Hua Shiyu only laughed sheepishly, holding a long baguette with several bites taken out of it in one hand and a steaming mug of warm milk in the other.
“From the cafeteria. Free late-night snack. You can grab so too...”
“......”
“......”
Rania tilted her head back, smacked her own forehead hard with the back of her right hand, and muttered darkly:
“Goddamn it all...”
“Eh? Violet-sis, what’d you say? I didn’t hear.” The pink-haired shorty took alternating bites of bread and gulps of milk, cheeks puffed, pink eyes smiling brightly. “Don’t rush, take it slow.”
“Take it slow.”
Rania repeated the words slowly, her voice tinged with clenched-teeth fury as she looked at Hua Shiyu.
All of us are running around like ants on a frying pan—and here you are, relaxing with a midnight snack?!
Why don’t you choke to death on that milk!
“Don’t be mad, it’s not my fault.”
Hua Shiyu blinked innocently, putting on a pitiful look like she was about to shed pearl-like tears. “I’m a victim too, okay? Forced to do stuff I didn’t want to all afternoon, not even allowed a sip of water, not even allowed to use the bathroom, worried sick the whole ti...
Now I finally get to eat a little and drink so milk—what’s wrong with that? And don’t glare at like that. I’m not like you. I’m just an ordinary girl with no strength at all.” The pink-haired shorty pouted miserably.
“...Sorry.” Rania’s eyes dimd.
“Exactly.” Hua Shiyu’s pout vanished instantly, replaced by a cheerful grin. “Don’t go stabbing people just because you’re in a bad mood. Anyway, let’s eat first. We can talk about the important stuff over food~”
